Janeway84
Hi everyone, I am having some major issues. I have tried downgrading the graphics to the basics, but i still get bad lag, and the framerate drops to a dead crawl during any police chases. I will list my pc specs, but i would also like to mention that i run STO (Star Trek Online) on this pc, and the graphics in that game are far more demanding than this one. So if anyone can help me figure out what the issue is here, i would muchly appreciate it! PC type: Laptop Make: Acer 7745G CPU: Intel Core 15 430M (2.26GHz, 3MB L3 cache) GPU: ATi Mobility Radeon HD 5650 - 1024MB dedicated vid memory (Up to 4083MB shared)--> (Overcloaked to the values of the 5730) RAM: 8GB Now as i stated above i play STO on this machine, and i max most of the settings on that game with no issues, or lag.. So i'm a bit confused as to why this one is running so terrible. If anyone can help, i would appreciate it ^_^
Girish
I have the exact same specs except that I have only 4 GB RAM and EFLC works fine on medium settings. Haven't tried out IV yet. What patch do you have installed? Have you tried updating your video drivers?
radioman
You should have no problems running the game on Medium-I can, and I have the Exact same processor, 6GB Ram, and ATI Radeon 5470 w/512MB dedicated and up to 3323 total vram, and 7 Home Premium, and IV runs great on Medium settings. That is a Quad core processor-as seen here., so that is another reason the game runs better.? Have't tried EFLC yet, though. So, run the game on Medium settings and you should have no problems. Janeway84
Ok so i tried doing it all on medium, still no luck so i tried the Benchmark tool and these were the results for 2 seperate tests: MEDIUM SETTINGS: Statistics Average FPS: 7.14 Duration: 34.99 sec CPU Usage: 38% System memory usage: 42% Video memory usage: 44% Graphics Settings Video Mode: 1600 x 900 (60 Hz) Texture Quality: Medium Shadow Quality: Medium Reflection Resolution: Medium Water Quality: Medium Texture Filter Quality: Anisotropic x4 Night Shadows: Off View Distance: 25 Detail Distance: 25 Hardware Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Video Adapter: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5600/5700 Series Video Driver version: 8.17.10.1052 Audio Adapter: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) Intel® Core i5 CPU M 430 @ 2.27GHz File ID: Benchmark.cli LOW SETTINGS: Statistics Average FPS: 7.62 Duration: 35.32 sec CPU Usage: 34% System memory usage: 42% Video memory usage: 44% Graphics Settings Video Mode: 1600 x 900 (60 Hz) Texture Quality: Low Shadow Quality: Low Reflection Resolution: Low Water Quality: Low Texture Filter Quality: Anisotropic x2 Night Shadows: Off View Distance: 5 Detail Distance: 5 Hardware Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Video Adapter: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5600/5700 Series Video Driver version: 8.17.10.1052 Audio Adapter: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) Intel® Core i5 CPU M 430 @ 2.27GHz File ID: Benchmark.cli As u can see, my FPS is terrible, it's twitchy as all hell. Even when i change to low settings the difference in FPS is only 0.48 better than the medium, and when i did a test on high the FPS was 7.47! So it's official i don't know what i should do to make the FPS better. Usually i am quite good at figuring these things out, But i am honestly stumped, please if anyone knows what to do, please post below ^_^
Spider-Vice
Disable the overclock and see what happens. radioman
Is this the Retail(DVD) version OR a Downloaded version? If Downloaded, from where? If Retail, Is this the Original DVD OR a Copy of the DVD? Do you have any "No-DVD" cracks? Any Mods or Trainers? Are ALL Drivers up to date for your Video card, Sound card, DX, etc.? Do you have any programs running at the same time as the game? How many programs do you have running in the Taskbar(the area near the clock) at the time of running the game? Have you tried Closing ALL non-essential processes/programs AND Disabling your AV/Firewall program before running the game? That can give a performance boost. Try using Fraps to get a Benchmark, that's what I use, and it seems like it is more accurate than the in-game benchmark tool is. According to the Fraps Benchmark, I get between 24-60fps with the avg. being 35 fps. and as you can see from my post above, I have a lower V. card than you. Also, another thing that works, is using the Original game(NO Patches)-I have not installed any of the patches and get pretty good performance. Also, try xliveless. Also, Do you have the latest SP for Windows-which is SP1 for 7?
Janeway84
Ok so this is a retail copy. It is the 2dvd pack from Futureshop. I have tried disabling the overclock on my computer, no difference, i played wtih the screen resolution settings in game, no difference, As for patches and updates, it was all automatic, and anytime i said no to an update, it would inform me i could not play the game without updates. I think i shall give up, I would love to play this game, but i will stick to my STO for now, seeing as i can run higher graphics with no issues at all. I'm thinking (and have also read) that this was just a poor attempt to transfer a console game to a PC. Thanks anyways for the help, i shall be shelving the game (and controller i purchased for it) Or selling it to someone who wants a glitchy game for cheap. radioman
If you use the xliveless progeam as I mentioned above, you can play the game without being bothered with the constant updates-the only one i've seen since I started using xliveless, was for Rockstar Games social club. Also, as mentioned in the Pinned Troubleshooting topic, ending ALL non-essential processes AND disabling AV/Firewall programs before starting the game can enhance performance.
