OrionSR Posted May 9, 2011 Share Posted May 9, 2011 Basketballs are not available on a new game until they are unlocked one of the early missions - I forget which; IIRC, it's the one with Sweet and Smoke playing basketball during the opening cut-scene. The basketballs can be disabled by a glitch caused by saving at Madd Dogg's Crib, or using a save anywhere mod too close to a basketball court. The glitch can be repaired by hmvartaks Online Glitch Repair Tool, or the GTA SA Savegame Editor v3.0 by Paul Breeuwsma. Everything else works fine, but for some reason, I could never play basketball! I was even thinking of shooting some hoops with the cops and military on my tail, lol. Moving the save disk will still enable you to safely save at the mansion. And if that's not the problems then you've been modding your game or something and that's the reason people often insist that you post a lot of crap for simple things. Don't waste our time with problems caused by editing the game. @WhistleBlower: I've got some cheat device codes that can fix the basketballs on a PS2 save. The fact that it's caused by a glitch from simply saving at Mad Dogg's crib is pretty f*cking stupid though. You'd think it's something that the developers would catch before the game's release. OrionSR Posted May 9, 2011 Share Posted May 9, 2011 On one hand, the glitch shouldn't happen until the game is almost over, so that reduces the chances of finding it. But on the other hand, the game testers I know are very good at their jobs. My guess is that this glitch was discovered and the powers-that-be decided not to bother fixing it in their rush to get the game on the market. I expect the problem of glitches being ignored to keep getting worse since there are currently no consequences for putting out a low quality product. Use it only after you've saved at Madd Dogg's house and you got the bug. The save 'flag' won't trigger if you don't save there, so the fix would do nothing before. OrionSR Posted May 19, 2011 Share Posted May 19, 2011 The Online Glitch Repair Tool will not repair the file if it doesn't find the glitch, so it won't move the disks. However, it looks like the Fixes tab of the savegame editor v3.1.2 will move the save disk anyway. The Online Glitch Repair Tool will only repair the file if it finds the glitch, which usually means waiting until after A Home in the Hills. However, there are mods that can glitch the basketballs before then, and there are tricks to opening Madd Dogg's Crib early in the game - so there are exceptions. OK, that's what I wanted to know. just be careful where you save on that save game editor (E.G if you save at the Johnson house at the begining of the game and you use that tool to save in Las Venturas when you load you'll get a 4 Star Wanted level) but it is cool when you cant find tags and oysters (yes i cheated a slight bit on that) and i now got 100% when you get 100% a tank spawns on grove street and a hydra on top of Sweet's house!
