ThePowerGuy.
The story may be great, but GTA IV cloned True Crime NYC's setting and taxi feature. Also the take cover sistem. And it copied the cell phone feature from Saints Row. And in the end GTA IV wasn't even that fun to play. Seriosly, Rockstar Games, you don't suck but you are starting to smell. Kwandilibro
Besides the fact that none of what you just said made any sense, your spelling is sh*t.
HipHopHeadSeb
although gta iv isnt the funnest of games in my opinion, this thread is sh*t. and the cell phone is a worldwide thing similar to a car.. u cant say gta ripped it off from true crime. same with the taxis. universetwisters
seriously, why the f*ck does everybody think that EVERY GAME that is either: A. open world B. playing as a criminal C. stealing cars is a gta ripoff!? Example: me and my friends are writing a video game to send to valve, or rockstar, or whoever. Anyway, just because it is in an open world setting, it doesnt make it an automatic GTA ripoff, right? my concept thread that im planing on turning into a real (non gta) game: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=470670 Imetsivispaceminperson
ThePowerGuy.
I meant that GTA IV IS THE RIPOFF. But still I think game developers should try to be more creative instead of following the same pattern.
AlexGTAGamer
So GTA IV took ideas from other games, so? It's called being creative, it happens in the real world all the time someone takes some elses idea and makes it their own. Anyway True Crime is based off of GTA, it aimed for the same mix of driving and on-foot action that GTA III nailed so it stole the whole idea of the game from GTA. lolleroz
'HEY! JOHN! I HAVE A GREAT IDEA FOR A GAME MAN! SOMETHING LIKE NFS, BUT WITH BEING ABLE TO GET OUT OF CARS, STEAL EM AND ALL!' -WHAT! ARE U DUMB? THERES ALREADY STEALING CARS IN GTA! THEY GONNA CALL OUR GAME A GTA CLONE! -Yeah, you're right...let's go back to making NBA games.
ThePowerGuy.
So GTA IV took ideas from other games, so? It's called being creative Nope, it's exactly the opposite. Yeah, you're right...let's go back to making NBA games. Your example is really stupid, no offence. Making sports games has nothing to do with it. I meant making a gta clone that has new creative features would be good.
Adler
Yeah, you're right...let's go back to making NBA games. Your example is really stupid, no offence. Making sports games has nothing to do with it. I meant making a gta clone that has new creative features would be good. It's not stupid just because you don't understand it. Even movies are rip-offs of past movies. Why should GTA not be able to take features from other games?
Schismatist
There's a difference between ripping off and being inspired, kid(or manchild, either way I already think your stay here is going to be just great), either way, it's human nature to follow and be inspired by what we believe is great, what you pointed out was inspiration, not "der der rip off", I hope you learn the difference between the two once you start growing the f*ck up, because you "rip off" every f*cking day. We all do, of course.
