jipthebest
Hello. Today I wanted to install GTA IV. Before I did this I'd checked if my pc could run it. The program: "can you run it" showed me that my cpu was a little too slow, but after all it was quite good. When I looked by recommended. The only issue was my video card. It said that my video card was not recommended, but it surely matches the recommended graphic memory namely 512 mb So I'v installed the game. When I wanted to change the graphical settings I could only use around 256 mb, but my ATI RADEON HD 2400 got 512 mb!. Now I'v got very bad graphics Can someone help me out (sorry for bad English)
OverTheBelow
The standard HD 2400 only has 256mb of dedicated video memory. Are you sure yours has 512mb? In which case, it'd be pro or XT edition. Though, playing on an old card like that means you're going to get bad graphics one way or another.
mkey82
2400 wasn't built to run GTAIV.
Girish
First and foremost, video memory isn't the only thing that's important in a graphics card. An even more important thing is the graphics processor (GPU) and yours passes the minimum requirement but is nowhere close to the recommended requirements. As for the video memory, are you sure it's dedicated 512 MB of video memory and not the total video memory (i.e. dedicated + shared)? If I'm not wrong, only the PRO version of this video card comes with 512 MB VRAM while the others are 256 MB only. Tell us which processor you have and how much RAM you got. Turn down the settings to their lowest possible values. Don't select higher resolutions at all. Make sure your video driver is up-to-date. Download and install the 4th patch. It's said to be the best patch, performance wise. Edit: Darn it, got beaten by two people.
jipthebest
I guess your right. 512 MB is only the total RAM. But can you run it said this: Video Card Minimum: 256MB NVIDIA 7900+ / 256MB ATI X1900+ You Have: ATI Radeon Graphics Processor (0x94C3) PASS Features: Minimum attributes of your Video Card Required You Have Video RAM 256 MB 512.0 MB 3D Yes Yes Hardware T&L Yes Yes Pixel Shader version 3.0 3.0 Vertex Shader version3.0 3.0 I've got an Intel® Pentium® Dual CPU E2140 @ 1.60GHz. I should try the latest patch. I'm sure the drivers are up to date
Girish
I should try the latest patch. Don't. It's pretty demanding and your system won't be able to handle the game at all. Hence why, I suggested you try the 4th patch. I'm sure the drivers are up to date Check again. Also, Can you Run It? only tells you if you can run the game. It doesn't tell you how well you can run it. Moreover, your processor does not even meet the minimum requirements. The minimum requirement is a Core2Duo @ 1.8 GHz.
