A few months ago my mom made me install something on my computer called "xwatch" by XXXchurch which logs all of the sites with a suggestive title in it. for example if someone made a topic titled "boobs" it would show up in the log. This has been becoming very ridiculous. about 2 weeks ago, i sorta decided to test my luck and go to a "bad site." it was technically porn. Before that I had gone onto funnyjunk. there's a lot of suggestive titles there, and my mom doesnt have a sense of humor, at all really. but pages from funnyjunk would be logged and my mom would tell me not to go one funnyjunk. but the porn site is pretty much what did it for her. now she doesn't want to let me have my computer in my room. she told my dad. he might not let me have it in my room. i think they are over-reacting, and it doesn't seem right to spy and invade privacy. I could use a proxy to get around this, but it's too much of a hassle. But I don't know what to tell them to leave me alone. My mom is very offended by porn. and she doesn't like swearing or dirty jokes, and that's a lot of what comes up in the logs. I need help you guys. what can i tell my parents to make them leave me alone. I'm not quite an adult yet so i cant tell them i'm an adult. My mom actually threatened to get rid of internet. She needs to grow up and accept that there are things like that out in this world, and that she can't protect you forever. In fact, she isn't protecting you from anything that you don't already know. Tell your mother to get rid of that attitude because if such rules are even applied to their children, it would probably be lifted at 13. She is clearly overreacting and being an extreme Christian doesn't give an excuse to even block porn. Are you really turning 18 soon? Sex is not just on porn on the internet, it's the 75% of girls in school dressing like sluts, it's almost every TV show you watch, it's certainly in every movie out there, it's the music you listen to, it's the people you talk to, it's the language you speak, etc. I'm sure your mom wouldn't be able to control all of that you see daily in life. Everything out there in the world always have some kind of "sexy stuff" and whatnot. I live in the third most Conservative/Republican county in the United States, yet all the girls in my school dress like sluts and the coaches make the cheerleaders uniforms all "sexy" and I don't see any of those extremely Christian soccer moms complaining to their schools that they let their daughter dress slutty. Hell, I've seen many girls make out with each other and cheerleaders slapping others asses after a football game. If your mom lived here she would say something along the lines of "this is the most liberal, anti-christian place in the whole world". Okay enough with the sexy stuff and now it's time for what we Americans call "violence". Violence is seen everywhere, 99.9999999% of all video games/movies/TV shows have it. Violence is shown on the news, in real life, and even at your school. Please tell your mom that she's not protecting you, all she is doing is preventing you to grow up. I am an adult and I still get flak. A lot of the stuff I watch, play, listen to is very frowned upon in this house but there's an easy solution. I pay for the internet and use my own computer so BAM they can't say anything about what I do on it. I use my TV and my PS3 so I don't care if Family guy, Southpark, Mortal Kombat bugs them. I'm a responsible adult and they treat me as such. Until you can say the same you have to live by their rules... These people raised you and your their responsibility. When your grown up that has changed. Its no different anywhere else. My dad was very strict about it when I was younger "you do it my way or get out" If I couldn't afford my own place than I had no choice but to follow the rules. If she installed it under an admin account that you don't have access to - get you self a copy of Winternals and reset the admin account and then uninstall it. or Write a very small (non harmful) program that will look like a virus on her log. Make the program open a few sessions to some known porn sites and flood her log. Make sure the program runs when you aren't home so you don't get blamed and can strengthen your argument that there must be a virus or something wrong with her spy software.
