Dutchy3010
PatrickW and I were thinking about a system where we can award the best mission designers with another "role" in the community. We wondered if you guys have some ideas about that. For example: more moderators at this subforum, moderators at the site., create a title for certain persons who deserve it, create another section of the dyom site for special users, etcetera... The goal is to involve the best and most active dyom users with decisions made for this mod and to award certain users who put a lot of effort into the dyom community. The mod is this big that we think we need some help to keep it attractive for everyone. We would like to hear your suggestions. DYOM - Create, play, share! Mati
Well, soon we're staring a new contest, check this topic out. A good idea would be if you completely re-do the DYOM site, so members have to log in. The more missions you make and the better they are rated, the more points (exp) they receive. Exp should give some kind of rewards, for example, your mission will be featured on the front page, similar to forgehub (It's a website about Halo: Reach I know but its not important), where map designers are actually rewarded. Thoughts?
Dutchy3010
It takes a lot of time to create a website like that, even though the idea is brilliant. The problem is that, if members have to login to upload missions, there is another threshold to upload missions. It most likely isn't possible to connect the site to the GTANet login, so you have to make your own login. Thanks for your suggestions, I will most certainly discuss this with Patrick. If you have any more suggestions, please post DYOM - Create, play, share!

We can also have a topic in this forum where the most rated missions are shown and most downloaded missions and storylines are displayed. And yes, a special section for active DYOM users is also important. Edited May 6, 2011 by Nitesh aka AAAAAAA
Kratos2000
Adding moderators would bring up more ranks, as the "new" mods are suppoused to be people who were very active around here, making them the first moderators who actually make missions.(which has mostly negative outcomes) As for the site, we could use profiles and a login system while a rating system would be abused to death though there might be some limitations which would allow it to be safer. We could use a more detailed homepage, just like youtube with sections for "latest missions" pics/missions/stuff of the day and links for tutorials aswell. I also had to take my 5 minutes to register here... @Nitesh: It wouldn't feel special to me, not everyone visits the forums. It's enough for me if I get a nice comment, I don't need a table to prove that I'm a good designer. But if my mission would be actually recognized on a site where every DYOM user is and if my mission would be featured on the first page, I would get exp and medals and sh*t, then its something else, something I kinda miss in DYOM. Right now, there are much less people in DYOM, I'm happy about getting 20 downloads. A completely re-done site would fresh things up.
Nitesh002
@Nitesh: It wouldn't feel special to me, not everyone visits the forums. Ooops! It didn't come into my mind that not many people visit the forum. And yes I think the idea for 'titles for people who deserves' is also a good idea. Contests and maybe special events can also be held in the DYOM site. And the winner get their name on the DYOM homepage. Some special random awards are given to certain DYOM users, Like: Most downloaded missions, Active DYOM mission designer with good missions etc. and the names are also given in the homepage. [i don't know about this...] You can also add links where the names of the best mission designers, so that people so can click them and get all the missions designed by them. TheDru1d
I think a large problem is the fact that there is no quality control when uploading missions. Having to register before you can upload is one way to improve on this cause it would allow for people to "suscribe" to their favourite users and get a message when they upload something. Plus it'd be nice to have an upload limit of 1 mission per 48 (or 36, or 24) hours per ip address. I also think it should be mandatory to have at least a description and a screenshot and for example at least 10 or more objectives. That way you can prevent people from rushing missions and prevent them from uploading 5 crappy missions a day instead of 1 good mission every 5 days. I myself only play missions from gtaf users, since all others are mostly noob missions.
JOJOXX
It's a great idea.It will be nice if there will be a login sector, where the better mission designer can upload their missions. And another ideas (what wrote the members here) will be great. Agree, it is true, many Forum users here, only spend their time on the forum, not making missions, but still, people need more time to make nice missions....... More members would also be nice..... Bleem
I was thinking that an expo would be pretty nice. It won't be just about missions (storylines) but very good missions (storylines) made by the best designers, or by those who just want to try their best. Some people may also announce "surprise" missions (storylines) which no one expected. Basically, it's like an E3 expo only there are missions or storylines instead of games. Of course, we can make these expos not just once a year but maybe once a month or so. Rewards could be "exp" like I think it's mentioned somewhere above in this topic. So tell me what you guys think. Kratos2000
Oh ho! Dutchy I got a good one Categories. While uploading a mission/storyline, we could have it set into categories - Military Gangsters Mafia Other Horror Racing It is something so simple, yet it does not come to mind. kmlwin.1996
How about making a page that Dutchy told "hidden"? It can only be seen the guys who deserves the DYOM very much and put effort in DYOM. It is useful for attractive of the users of DYOM. Sorry for my bad english, I hope you understand it.
Drift-Kingz
IMO I think the DYOM site should be redone... Also, I think there should be a 'rating' feature. For example, we could rate missions on the website, and the ones with the highest ratings could be put into a category ((kind of like the ones we see on GTAGarage. (start date, rating, name, etc)). This way, I can assume missions will have more promotion, and not have to put up with '54 views, 6 downloads' or something like that. This is a huge problem - good missions not being recognized. I've seen missions on the DYOM site that have like 15 or 10 objectives and get like tons of downloads and views. For example, this one. I have no clue what it's exactly about, but it only has 7 objectives, and a TON of actors. Very short, and I find it kind of wrong (in my opinion) that they are getting more credit than other good, perfect missions we sometimes find on the DYOM site. For example this one which has a ton of content, allowing it to be promote an enjoyable mission, but it's being unrecognized a bit. Now take a look at this one which is just a terrible mission, but is receiving a bit of 'decent credit'. Missions need to have a rating system, otherwise, some good mission designers (and there actually are some), will have to put up with crappy missions in their way, and not receive the credit they reserve. BnB
I agree with Drift-Kingz! It should be a Top Missions category.
