LCollusions
I all the previous GTA games hours are minutes, this never really annoyed me at first, but now it does especially in GTA 4 where the graphics were awesome and I tried to enjoy the day and see cut screens in the day, for better viewing and sh*T, I was thinking that the days could be longer? like an hour is 10, maybe 10, or even 30 minutes! the seconds could still be seconds but I would like to enjoy the day more, and also the night. This will also give people a new experience in missions where you have to wait till midnight to do a certain thing, the waiting is longer! Making GTA more realistic in a simple way. What do you guys think about time?
TheBlackProject
This has been posted many times before, but whatever I'll give my opinion. If this had real time, it would have both pros and cons to it. I would really like the idea of the time in real life to be synced into GTA, but in situations where you sleep to save the game (and realistically you have to sleep for a few hours at least) or times when you get told that you can't play that mission during the hours of x:xx and x:xx it will be very annoying. What do you guys think about time? I think exactly the same way except about weather, IMO, I personally like Overcast both in RL and in GTA IV, I mean the game is supposed to give us a grime feeling with Niko coming for revenge and learning about the deceptions of the American Dream I guess it just went better along with it. Maybe we should make a whole climate season change weekly, like for instance, one week its snowing (Winter), Next week its raining alot(Spring), etc. Now about the missions, I personally the whole ''Packie is not here'' thing were the most annoying of problems, I mean sure it might fit in better with the situation of the mission, but the waiting is just a pain in the ass to be honest. gta_fan28
I think 5 mins per hour in GTAV is enough for me..
RED_
Seconds can't be seconds if you change how long a minute lasts and therefore how long a day lasts. I think it's fine the way it is. Days last long enough and maybe even too long when you are trying to pass time.
jnzooger
IV did 2 minutes per hour because of this exact complaint.
grandtheftautovideogamer
I think the hours in the game are perfectly fine the way they are. Why change or add extra hours? GTA is based on the 24 hour clock. Not alien hours. Pointless thread.
post
the only thing i would add to what's already posted ( i agree with it being fine ) is i wish the game would keep track of seasons. i'd like to see cooler weather, where you can see your breath, even snowstorms and plows. the peds changing clothes depending on the time of year, see the stars in the sky change over the seasons, etc. i know it's alot of extra development, but it's not really complicated, and it would be the sort of detail that people would rave about. LCollusions
I don't really want an long period of hours, I just want them to be like the hours 5 minutes, or 10. Also I don't want the Military clock, either. I want a real life clock time.

sd13killer
I don't know what your talking about. But where I'm from the clocks are all 1-12 am then 1-12 pm. 24 hour clocks are pretty rare around here. I think your idea is good. But I'm thinking more along the lines of one in game hour being a day. Thats like 60 minutes divided by 24... Basically a little over two minutes per in game hour. Just how long I think days should be. But GTA IV came pretty close.
Mokrie Dela
RDR doubled it i believe. is think its 4 seconds to a minute? I'd like that system, or maybe 5/6 seonds to a minute. Yeah, I don't even know why, but I translate the GTA 4 clock, to 12 hour clock, in my head, In case am gonna a mission or date, but it's hard to convert the 16:00, to....thinking.....4:00, so it confuses me a bunch. WhistleBlower
No offense, but if you can't understand military time, then you're probably not old enough to be playing GTA in the first place. Edited May 7, 2011 by WhistleBlower

Maybe it just takes longer for you to process information, which brings us back again to what I said earlier about how you're probably not old enough to be playing GTA. You use the "age is just a number" excuse as if you're somehow smarter than the rest of us. But all that's telling me is that you're incredibly naive. Silentype
No offense, but if you can't understand military time, then you're probably not old enough to be playing GTA in the first place. If I can help out LCollusions, i'm sure he's just basically trying to say he prefers the time in the game to resemble what he sees when he looks at his clock. That is to say that the time goes from 12:59 am/pm to 1:00 am/pm instead of the current way it's done in the game. On a side note: I personally could care less how they do the time, as I don't pay attention to the in game clock except for missions when it comes into play, i'm just trying to help LCollusions out as it seems he has a lot of responses from people who seem to be overreacting instead of getting the gist of what he's trying to say. Kirsty
Time doesn't matter to me in game unless it's needed. For example 'pick me up in the next hour' I would always check the clock to make sure I wasn't late. In RDR I would always check the clock first before sleeping so I would wake up in a time frame I needed (missions that were open at certain times etc). Other than that, it has no use IMO. And time format, you must be gripping at straws to discuss something if you're worrying about this For me 24h clock is easier to read and leaves no room for confusion. I suppose they can give players the option for a more analogue style clock however digital will always be more convenient and easier for most to read. I have the option to do it the other way if I want, but I personally find it easier to know that the sun sets around 7:30pm instead of 19:30. In fact, 20:00 feels more like it should be 10pm in my mind, even though I know it is 8pm. I think that has to do with the fact that we live in a world based on 10, not 12. I said Age is a number, Money is not a Number, it is related to it, And I said that because people today Judge too many people by their age, for example am smarter, than most of my family normally, because I am the most social, the rest of my family still get's this thing over their heads, and sh*t, and won't f*cking learn Enlgish. Am they still treat me like crap, I won't continue this since I would be going off topic getting this thread locked, And I didn't start the 24 Hour Clock topic, I don't know who did, I started this thread showing how time could be longer in GTA, That's it.
