I have some weird graphics bugs with my game. I had the Rotterdam Tower lighting up only on the edges as of patch 1.0.6.0. But I fixed that by using the old light emmensive shaders. But anyways these bugs are kinda annoying and Id like help with fixing them. I know these screens have mods showen and Visual IV but it does it on a clean install also.

 

1. Flickering Lods:

In the pick you can see black stuff on the Algonquin bridge (road, not wholl bridge). Some other things do it too but in the game it flickers. For some reason the Algonquin Bridge does black but other stuff does it but its Lods showing. It does it when far away.

2. Shallow water flickering from far away:

Same glitch as before. But this is with the water. It flickers near the shore or in swimming pools. It does not do it to all of the shores but Happines Island and Hove beach realy have it bad around the perimiter.

-Sea bed around Happiness flickering through the water.

-Hove beach flickering. Hard to see in the pic but if you look closely at the shore line you can see abnormal shapes. In the game it realy flickers.

3. Refections showing polygons on cars:

On some cars its barly noticable but it realy shows on black cars. Soon Ill upload a pic of the Cavicalade because that cars roof gets it horrably. But the windows are fine. Reflection quality Very High.

This pic does not show it as well but you may notice jaggyness on the hood of the car but the window reflection is perfictly fine.

4. Land darkens when far away:

If you look close you can see that the land darkens when its far away. This bug appears in EFLC, and in IV on patch 1.0.6.0 and 1.0.7.0. It looks like it darkens as the water gets lighter at the horizon. It also flickers at the edge of the dark part. Look at Middle park and you will se a line of darkness going diagonaly through the park.

The bugs appear no matter what the graffics settings may be. If anyone has any ideas on how to remove these bugs please help me fix this. Id greatly apreceate it. Also if any of the pics are unclear to you post and Ill post a pic where the bug is more obveus.

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional

 

Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460

Video Driver version: 266.58

Audio Adapter: Speakers (High Definition Audio Device)

AMD Phenom 9600 Quad-Core Processor

 

I knoticed that I have an AMD processor, but I have an NVIDIA graphics card, and Im wondering if I switch my graphics card to AMD or switch my processor to NVIDIA that may help. But I still had these bugs on my 9800GT.

Thats one thing I was expecting to hear. I may be able to fix the darkening at the horizon because the older patches did not have that. It would be like when I fixed the Empier State bilding bug. One question. Did any of the older patches not have the reflections showing the polygons? I dont remember. I remember seeing it when first playing TBOGT but when I used 1.0.0.4 shaders for a test it was still present. Are any of these bugs not present in older patches?

Not sure, but 1 and 2 is Z fighting.

See this.

I'm no HLSL expert, but this might not be fixable just by tweaking shaders. Maybe someone with that expertise one day will attempt to fix this Z fighting issue.

Well this leads me to an idea. The xbox and ps3 versions make the textures transparent aculy rather than checkerbord transparency like on pc. The pc version has a texture file called stipple unlike the other versions. Maybe that's the problem. Also maybe moving lods so they are lower may help. We can also try using some files from the xbox version because maybe some of Rockstars inhanced graphics screwed up the game.

GTA 4 has such piss poor performance and such CPU hog because its emulated.

GTA 4 has such piss poor performance and such CPU hog because its emulated.

It started at the Xbox 360 version but its getting further away. Now its closer to the newer games using RAGE. The Xbox 360 version was just a base. Were talking about GTA 4, not newer games.

The game has no direct control over hardware, the emulator does. Remove the emulator to have much better performance, but the engine is probably coded to execute on PPC based platform, because if it was not, they would not use the emulator in the first place.

Translating PPC to x86 is a bitch, mkay.

Then to implementing SSE for even better performance.

 

TL;DR; you're over your head.

Rockstar probaly did it as a rush job because many people were asking for GTA IV PC, and Rockstar does not realy care about it. Same thing for EFLC. GTA IV PC looks like its just slapped together.

 

Also I was talking about newer games because Rockstar replaced the shadows with the ones in 1.0.6.0 you see in the newer games like RDR or LA NOIRE. They clamed that they are less memory intensive and look better, which is how they can improve their newer games by making the graffics better with out effecting performance. But on the PC that ended up as a different story. I think they think now, we tryed 7 times to get this to work so now screw it.

 

Converting it from emulater to reguler PC game is going to cause many issues. Maybe they can resell a product and make it be GTA IV Complete Edition for PC. But it will be written for PC and not be an emulator. But maybe just a patch may work too. Would requier a lot of work for them but maybe they are working on that patch now and thats why there has not been a patch in a while.

There hasn't been a patch for a year, what makes you think they will port the game from PPC to x86?

Id rather have em work on next GTA title with proper port support and maybe some DX 11 features.

GTA 4 is dead.

for almost 2yrs now on the ps3 gtaiv has ai that are ghosts basically guns floating never was fixed run gta without patches on ps3 its 3x better. i just uninstalled gtaiv from my pc because of patch 7 the game corrupted 2 saves and crashed trying to play a mp3 on the independence fm channel f*cking pathetic.

 

BTW gta sa has graphic enhancement mods

You seem to not understand one thing, R* lacks the tech department. Those crafty mofos can make a f*cking masterpiece, but when it comes to the technical aspect of the game, the games themselves suck ass with performance issues on any platform and bugs, BUGS EVERYWHERE.

 

If crytek teamed up with R*, letting R* handle the gameplay, story ect while Crytek the technical aspects, we would have a masterpiece where it would make the four housemen of the apocalypse irrelevant and sh*t on any previous game making it seem like irrelevant bullsh*t.

 

All 3 platforms have their issues, the engine is poorly coded itself because R* has retards for coders. Why are you making this so hard?

That engine has DX11 support, its simply has no DX 11 shaders, which will be added in an update.

Cryengine 2 is still superior to cryengine 3 in every way. Cryengine 3 is a castrated version of the cryengine 2, to support PPC and crippled to run on consoles better.

Also the black land (where water fades off into the distance at horizon) is present in GTA IV patches 1.0.6.0, and 1.0.7.0. Its in EFLC patches 1.1.0.0, 1.1.1.0, and 1.1.2.0 so pritty much all of them. You also have to understand that the drivers on both sides of the fence have flaws which contribute to these problems. Like elusive 69XX rain glitch, which is a driver issue and AMD is not giving a single f*ck about it.

I know, but everyone who has EFLC or GTA IV patch 6 and 7 has the Lights bug on the Rotterdam tower, but not on the old patches for GTA IV. I brought the 1.0.4.0 shaders to patch 7 and now its fixed. The dark land by the horizon was not present in the patches for GTA IV that are older than 6.

 

Ill upload three comparison pics that will show the darkness much more clearly.

 

Original timcycle its more visable than Visual IV.

Now for the comparison where you cant miss it. (It realy is noticable above the map).

 

Patch 1.0.7.0 (Looks like this on GTA IV patch 6 and patch 7, and on all EFLC patches).

The z fighting is on all the patches. I just couldent go as high normaly back then because there was no TBOGT, but when I did it with airbreak I thought that they did not configure it yet. But when I did the parachute glitch on the Xbox 360 version of TBOGT everything was fine exept for the black circle, and the vertical bars in the water but that was because I was up way to high. However the blackness does a nasty z fighting effect with the normal colord land. But notice the color of the water. But do you see the diffenence?

I'd like to see them try to do a PPC to x86 port with LA Noire, and it works great on most systems then they should do the same with V.

I only have one GPU. Based on what Im seeing Im gussing Crisis 2 has the same problems as RAGE. I still get decent performance, but I know its not what I should be getting. I got the same performance when I put in a new HD with Windows 7 64 bit, as I do with Windows 7 32 bit. Do you guys think I should change something in my BIOS? I used to have a 9800GT but now Im on a 460GTX.

 

One question. How much of an effect will I get if I use the same settings, but I use a TV with 1080p, instead of 1920x1080 (60Hz)?

Lol not happening.

On another note, max payne 3 is coming to PC and it uses RAGE.

I want to see how THAT turns out.

If they use the same engine, and they fix bugs, it may end up better than GTA IV, because it was planned originally to be on pc, and that may result in a patch for GTA IV. They would have to if they fix the problems in GTA IV has in Max Pane 3 PC, and if they fix them in that, based on GTA IV's condition they may release a patch.

Sorry for dubble posting, but Nvidea released a driver update today, and Im not 100% on this but it seems to of gotten rid of the blackness bug on patch 7. Ill keep you updated when I can fully conferm it.

 

But does anyone have AMD and have the blackness bug for far away objects that I posted pics of, on the new patch?

I agree they changed it because the format on consoles are xexon and ps3 idk.And i am working on a patch to convert patch 4 to 7 doing well and z fight can be fixed but shader's are hard.But i let you know if i get it all working 100%.

Everything works when you port it exept for the shaders. Also if you have night shadows on your game will crash. So you may need to port the graphics screen too so you can use the 1.0.4.0 settings.
