Lithium
Hey guys, I was looking in to different employment opportunities pertaining to my field of study (criminal justice), and I noticed there is currently a company hiring in my area called G4S. The job is basically delivering money in an armored vehicle the way Brinks does. I thought it could be an interesting job, and a job I might enjoy. What do you guys think? Rebel
I don't know why your asking us for our opinion since at the end of the day you shouldn't be ruled by what the hell we say. Its up to you, if the job looks like it might interest you then go for it.
Robinski
I've always figured that it's one of those jobs that sound around "pretty" on the cool scale, but in reality is boring as sh*t. It amounts to being a delivery driver but you have to wear a silly hat and run a higher (albeit, still pretty low) risk of being attacked. You'll have to deal with knowing that just about everybody in the street while you make the walk back to the van has a back-of-the-mind fantasy about hitting you over the head an making a run for it. Fnorg
I guess he's just asking us about our views on the job, not whether or not we think he should go for it, because it's obvious he's going to do it. Seems like an awful job just driving in a car full of money all day, you'd be little more than a glorified bus driver with a gun.

Function-X-
Man you need to look extremely tough for a job like that i imagine Take the crime activities level in your area into your consideration, I'm sure you watch movies, Usually they are the ones who gets shot or become hostages. But if you think you are capable of doing it, And they pay you good, You should totally go for it , It's hard to find a decent job these days. So why do you care what we think? Maybe someone here is experienced in this business.

Yeah I could see it being potentially boring as it would be a lot of driving. Might not be too bad though.
*MURDOC*
I actually used to do runs in an armed armoured van, I only loaded/unloaded, but it was pretty decent, if a bit boring at times.

I wasn't being difficult I was clearly stating an obvious fact. Its like going into a car chat topic asking about a certain model and then saying I don't really care what you all think I'm buying it anyway. Just sounds like you made the topic for no huge reason. Then again if you were in an official like before you'd of probably posted it there. Again, I'm not being personal. Just saying why ask people about the job at hand when your going to apply anyway (and could probably find better ''reviews'' on the job through Google)

If that's all sorted out it seems like a fairly easy job assuming no one attempts to hijack your truck.
sivispacem
G4S are a great company to work for/with. They're expanding into some very interesting sectors at the moment, not least provision of security services for government and NGO personnel operating in dangerous areas of the world. I have the non restricted and I'm currently on the waiting list for the restricted course. I'm not sure if this company does their own restricted training...I know some of them do. Cheat
From what I've heard, you'd actually be glad to get robbed, 'cause, despite sounding cool and all that, delivering money, in reality, often equals to driving around all day long, and this is all only what I've heard people of this occupation say. Basically, it's like driving a truck but it has a cooler sound and a tad different description of work and some extra safety values to it, plus has a better pay - if you like drivin' and all that, listen to your heart and maybe even go for it, if you like the idea, I certainly don't know why not to do it. Chargr
Some social interaction is nice at times, but I do see your point about google. 10 Minute social interactions at best. Right here at work (Retail), Brinks comes in every morning, picks up/Drops off the $$ and they are on there way out (can't take too long, they are in a schedule). Depending on your area, it can be dangerous. About doing the tasks, it looks like it can get boring fast. 90% of the guys I see coming in look somewhat bored. anuj
A couple of things: 1) AT drivers are pretty much security guards. They both get six shooters and act like they're cops, but if you get the job please don't act like you have any semblance of authority outside of "drive truck, deliver money or wait in truck while other guy delivers money". 2) Every Brinks or GARDA drivers I've ever met that delivers money to my stores ATM seems to be kinda paranoid. And/or dicks. This is coming from someone who just completed a BS in Criminology/Crim Justice. You want to be a cop, be a cop. Nobody is going to look at your experience driving around money and be "hey this is just what we're looking for!" On a side note, one of those ATs got disabled and robbed here in St. Louis last year. The dudes got between 4-5 million.
Oddsock
If you like driving, then hey, this is a job you might like. But like anuj said, if you wanna be a cop, be a cop and all that jazz. I personally enjoy driving around so any job that has me behind the wheel of a car, I enjoy.
