Stig
What do you guys think? I need a laptop soon for my college courses, and I'm looking to buy a nice gaming rig just so I can do pretty much anything my desktop could do so it'd probably replace my PC I have now. Now, I've heard mixed reviews about their site, specifically about how they ship their products. I've heard some great reviews about them, but I've also read some terrible ones.. Was wondering if anyone has bought a PC through them or something, because before making an investment like this I wanna be buying quality.. So, what the f*ck is up with Ibuypower? Yay, or Nay? Fozzy Fozborne
If it was a desktop, I own and would recommend IBP simply because if there is a problem you can simply send that one part back. IBP laptops are really hit-and-miss. I was just looking at one of their quad core 15" laptops with a battery with less capacity than the one in my dual-core 14" laptop with integrated graphics. I would think that 99% of the shipping issues are with their desktop machines (SATA/power cables falling out of their socket and other minor things). Have you checked out Sager Notebooks? There are lots of them.
Stig
Just checked em out, definitely a buying option there.. But what I've noticed is that no matter what company you go through (Ibuypower, sager, cyberpc, etc.) it always seems to be the same exact build, hell even the same exact case for the laptop as well. Not that it's a bad thing, just saying.. The one thing I don't like about Sager is the fact that I have to pay an additional $100.00 on "Zero Dead Pixel Insurance". Well you'd think if I was going to buy a $1,300.00 laptop I shouldn't even have to worry about a dead pixel let alone have to buy insurance for it, haha. Fozzy Fozborne
The laptop chassis come from Clevo and IBP or sager simply add the parts and market/ship them. Oh and the dead pixel insurance is actually not offered on almost any other company. Most companies will give you a screw you if it's less than 8 dead/stuck pixels. At least they give you the option of purchasing that coverage.
Stig
How noticeable would a dead pixel be?
OverTheBelow
It'd just be a pixel (or a few pixels) that only display a single colour, rather than the image sent to the screen. It can be noticeable if you read alot of small text in full screen or something, but it generally wouldn't be annoying until you get around 10 or more dead pixels on your monitor. Stig
Ah, I see. Still kind of on the fence about going through Ibuy, Sager, Cyber etc. Wondering if it's worth the risk of spending 12-1300$ on something that could come out bad.
OverTheBelow
If it does, just send it back for a replacement.
Waste
Dead pixels with be black. Stuck pixels display one color out of the primaries. (This is a fixable problem.) Have you checked out ASUS's laptop for this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16834230027 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16834220957 Samsung has a nice one as well: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16834131117 Just a couple of extra options for you. I know it can be daunting looking at all the laptops wondering what's best.
