JayyRemixx
Just about works on the lowest possible settings on my 9600. Almost unbearable for your 9500. Sorry but no.

GTArv
I have a PC setup similar to yours. The game is best played at medium~low settings. You need to have the patience to tweak settings to your satisfaction and keep updating drivers. Graphics quality will have to be compromised, but ultimately the game doesn't look terrible. Its playable all right, and definitely enjoyable.
diablo440
my sig..all crap AMD rig parts but 2GB card that is 1xx:64:32 and 256bit, so I can max and not get killed by lag. Running this game on low-end hardware and getting good results isn't as hard as the 'experts' here claim, and yes maxing out is totally dependent on VRAM, core config and bus width on graphics just helps frames.. people here like to 'chase their own tail' and troll, so I won't be defending my statement.. topog_z
I wonder how a mid-low end ATI 4000 series card coupled with a C2Q and it runs perfectly at high with 30+ fps.
qtruq
Game runs fine on my old computer with Low-Med settings @ about 20 to 30 FPS. (Multiplayer) Specs: Intel Pentium D 820 (Dual Core) @ 2.8GHz 2GB DDR2 RAM Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB DDR2 PCI-E (x16) Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit Maxtor 200GB Western Digital 80GB And that's with RARE lag. Both my hard drives are full and needs to be defragged really bad. (I haven't been keeping my computer up to par lately lol). I'm betting the game will run a lot better if I defrag my drives and free up a lot more space!!!

Have you tried turning all settings down and seeing how high a resolution you can get while maintaining 30+ FPS? Then doing the same but with the settings maxed? At 1GB VRAM you have some flexibility. Also, CCleaner or IObit advanced system care does wonders on old machines. I'm interested in seeing results some people get. I currently only have the system in my sig and two laptops, I can play 800x600 on one of the laptops but it sucks cause it's just a dual core pentium and 512MB 103M with 4GB DDR2 800. qtruq
changing the resolution doesn't lower my fps in any way. and thats with the settings on "high", except shadowing. When I raise the shadow quality it dropped my fps all the way down to around 10, even on lowest resolution lol. I turn it off and everything runs smoothly again. I ran it on lowest resolution and everything on "very high" with shadowing off and my system started to have trouble. it was around 13 fps. :-/
diablo440
You also want to disable anti-aliasing for GTA, on Nvidia CP, I disable or app-control everything, I enable threaded optimization and lower texture quality too. On ATI CP I think you can disable and lower texture stuff, I only have the IGP version on one laptop for ATI so I don't know. IObit also makes a program called game booster that I've had good results with. The commandline.txt with full VRAM usage set to active is also good. qtruq
Yeah that's how I got the program, when I installed Game Booster. So far my FPS hasn't gone up too much. I guess that's the best I'm going to get out of this system unless I have a more healthier hard drive! The game is way more than playable right now so I'm happy. unc13bud
9500gt only has 32 stream processors http://www.anandtech.com/print/2612 is it ddr3 or ddr2? and what is its width? 64-bit? or 128?
NaidRaida
I cannot recommend to run the game on your system. I suppose it would be no fun at all. The game looks ugly with settings lower than high to me. A Q8200 quadcore and a HD5770 1GB was even to weak for me personally.

The game doesn't look bad low, just less reflection and shadows mostly. I'd get a 256bit card with 1GB personally and play on slightly higher resolution with higher settings, it'd get about 28-30 frames probably if it has 9x:3x:1x or better cores, most do.. luckymanhog
nobody wants pixelated shadows i guese, all thou my post only confirms that this gta iv pc dvd will most def run on low power pc if setup well, the minor things like these are surely not noticed all that much if u race around @ 30~50Fps, really is the best driver out~of~them~all i've tested between versions160.**Nvidia up untill 270.**Nvidia set and this one proved too be the best for this particular card. i for win7 i would not know, this is only if u use XP 32bit. i also don't really know yet what would help fps in win7 seems to keep lagging no matter what i test. I'm totally whith u on that patch thing but only for MP and would rather not use it unless MP can't be played without it. Really do wish there was a patch that only does the MP thing and not all the other seemingly useless things. wrong its called tweaking win 7.
