personally, i liked the III era better.. i'm not saying GTA IV and EFLC aren't good games.. they're really entertaining but in my opinion the only flaw that IV era has is that it's too realistic.. that it takes the fun out of the game.. playing GTAIV and EFLC is a lot of fun.. but not as much fun as i'm having when playing GTA3, VC and SA..

i asked the wrong question. i think should've asked which era is better in terms of fun..

because obviously the IV era is technically better..

If you want a real gunfight, you play TLAD with Gang Wars, not GTA SA or VC. A pursuit with the cops? GTA IV. A walk? GTA IV.

GTA IV Era is better... except if you like anecdotic things, such as tunning or fitness.

The third era was better. There were many things we could do that we can't in the fourth one.

yes in terms of realism in gunfights, cop pursuits storyline IV wins..but the realism of the game i think sort of limits the fun in the game.. well back in GTA IIIera during heavy gunfights with the cops i could last an hour or more with them without dying.. all those crazy stuffs they do just to get you is really funny... blowing everything up.. destroying everything in your path with a rhino tank.. set peds on fire with a flamethrower.. having huge variety of weapons.. chainsaws, minigun even dildos you could chop someone's head off with a katana or machete.. but in IV i could barely do those things and i couldn't even last 10 minutes with the cops..

Since we have only seen One full game In the IV era, I'm going with the III era.

Currently I'd say the III era is better since we got to see more of it. We've been to LC, VC, and SA in the III era spanning from 1984 to 2001.

In the IV era we've only been in 2008 and 2009 and have still yet to leave LC.

What realism!?!? There's not realism, the graphics are better, that's it... IV and EFLC are more enjoyable than III era IMO.

Too soon? There's only been GTA IV and EFLC for the IV Era.

*cough*Chinatown wars*cough*

I personally choose the IV era, not because of the gameplay or graphics, because of the story.

I will have to go with the III era. I just like it more then IV era because III era got a special feeling to it.

Well if we got a new option that said "too soon" it would be perfect. There's only been one full game in the IV era. And the III era had, what, how many? 5 games? We cant judge yet.

I see it as a comparison between IV and III more than era's, and despite of it's physics and graphics drawback III wins hands down.

IV era. I can't stand III era pre-made anims anymore. Graphics are much better, cops are more fun, missions are more serious.

But overall, IV is III with better technology.

The IV era has only had one FULL game released, seeing as EFLC was episodic content and CTW is only a handheld game .

I voted III

Definitely the III era. Not just because we've seen more games and locations there, but because there were a lot of classic/fun features, characters, etc. left behind or removed when the new IV games came out.

I've played the whole IV trilogy and CTW, but I still think the old games are better. Perhaps it's because I've been playing them since 2003/2004, and they are more "classic" to me. But I just find them much easier to pick up and play. There's more cheats to use, more places to go, and it's overall easier to have fun (IMO of course). Of course, I still like the new games. But the realism can get annoying. I like the stories equally in most of the games.

it's too soon to say that the GTA IV, EFLC an CW are the IV era, i suppose that the next gta will be set in the iv era

I highly doubt the III-era will ever be beat. All the story connections, the classic feeling and nostalgia coming from it is just hard to forget about. Of course, if you're a graphic nerd you'll only care about the future and the latest release.

The III-era is like the GTA version of WWE wrestling's Attitude Era. That's how I look at it, anyways.

There has only been 2 games and 2 dlc's in the IV era so I'd go for the III era...

I voted III

Considering that LCS and VCS were both handheld games, I'd count CTW as a full game.

Anyway, I voted for the IV era. It seems by taking a step back from the craziness of the III canon, R* have pushed on and laid the foundations for V to be a truly fantastic game. The new physics put life and a sense of fun into driving, whereas it had felt rather numb before in my opinion. Secondly, the gun play is now bearable. Like others, there were many occasions in the III era where the dodgy aiming would drive me insane.

the nameless

III by 100 million miles. All 3 were brilliant and LCS was great (VCS not so much). IV was ok, TLAD was flat out crap, and Gay Tony was the IV ers's saving grace. That was a fantastic little game.

i hate the characters from iv era. they are just not from gta universe. also, gta4 is just like a clone of gta games, with a gta name. also, i dont want f*cking realism, life is realistic enough, why would you put in a game that suppose to be fun? you want gta4, go play realistic till the morning. i'm hanging out with old funny ones.

Agreed man, I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets the "classic" feeling from the older GTA games. Also good to see you posting again here smile.gif .
