This appears right before the download. Everything was deleted from startup folder and I copied GIMS auto-updater back.

After download I restarted 3D max and when I tried to open odr I got this:

 

GIMS has encountered an error!Sending the report to developer...

 

 

maybe it would be easier to just upload the files here.

Yeah I got the latest OpenIV and I'm trying to open tBoGT Luis body part.

Hey, i tried doing a player model, but on export, the files get corrupted. I know that they are because i get a error when trying to import.

Here is what i do:

Open up DFF IO

Click A

import a SA/VC/III model

Do it into position when i import niko

delete the skeleton

delete body parts except head

close DFF IO

open GIMS

Click OpenFormats

click import ODR/ODD

align the sa/vc/iii model head to niko's skeleton bones

attach

delete niko's head model

click export ODR/ODD.

Then i try to import

ERROR

then i test it ingame

CRASH

am i doing something wrong? confused.gif

May be, you've added the model in wrong way.

You can't add/delete files in RPF archives - the game crashes. Use Replace...

in fact it is not smooth with a problem,

i inport odr, always goes

sen to have to change anything , i export odr , and does not export

Model seems to work fine otherwise now, but the material controls could be a bit more intuitive.

 

The spec/bump/ref etc. sliders should be accompanied with some kind of boxes where one could input exact values.

 

Now it's VERY hard to get them even close to what I want sad.gif

Thanks, it would really help a lot being able to punch in exact values for something like normal maps, which will look wrong if it's off even a bit.

Do you need a video to prove it? I have OpenIV 0.9.2 and I did export through it. I even double checked it after you asked about the O4 version and I re-exported that model and Niko body part from EFLC and it still doesn't want to open them sad.gif

I'm having trouble with exporting player .WDRs.

It looks like this in 3DS Max, looks fine, works fine.

Looks fine in the OpenIV viewer

When I try it in the SparkIV viewer, everything goes horribly awry.

 

I didn't manage to get a picture of it ingame, but there was floating polygons above his head, part of his chin was stuck into his torso, I don't know what the hell is going on. It's not the weighting, I didn't touch the weighting. The fedora and Luis are one object attached together, they're not separate, I didn't touch their X,Y, or Z positions, didn't rotate, when I scaled I reset the xForm even though that shouldn't matter if I attached the fedora to Luis' mesh.

 

Don't know what lpgunit did, but something's messed up here.

Read skinning tutorials.

There's no point to trust SparkIV. Some ingame screens??

May be, you have dev build, or some other wrong version of OpenIV...

Files, that you've sent, have obsolete openFormats syntax, which isn't used in OpenIV 0.9.2 public release.

 

2 GTARandom,quenchus13, etc..

Wait for an update.

I know how to skin and weight properly, I'm offended you assume I don't while I'm trying to get some custom characters and such into IV.

 

Anyways, this time I tried a body. It exports fine with no errors, but apparently it doesn't export correctly. When I try to view it in the Open IV viewer, nothing is there and it shows 0 polygons and 0 vertices. If I try to switch to the edited torso, the game crashes.

 

I uploaded my .max file and the folder I was using to export into .odr, but I'm afraid it's a Max 2010 file.

I can't download the update confused.gif (i downloaded the one from first post but in 3ds max it won't download anything)

Make sure that your material naming is correct in your model. My model did crash the game when I imported it for the first time to IV. AFAIK only one Mat ID can be used for the head model; I tried using multiple and while it didn't crash the game, it ended up having rather wonky results.

Every skinned mesh can contain only 1 material and all faces MatID set to 1.

That's why ped models're separated to parts in WDD.

Mine also suffers from some skinning problems, but apparently it had something to do with how I rig things.

OMG... Thank you 3doomer..

when I 1st installed it GIMS wont download the update.. so I removed and reinstalled it.. then it keeps asking if I want to download.. so I keep pressing OK.. then it did.. now its working...biggrin.gif THANK YOU
