Yes, you can.

 

EDIT 2: I just remembered one more question: can we create UV Animaiton? There are so many in Manhattan, oops.. Algonquin (the hotel -.-).

All animations (include UV) store in WAD Resources.

I get an error while importing weapon model. I think there something with importing textures, maybe theyre in wrong format?

And what kind of lights are supported (omni, directional, etc..)? Also, how to make the light from the lamppost to be on the ground? Image

 

I tried to put light on one custom lamppost and all I get is just one funny tiny small circle instead of light. Even the lamppost wasn't lighten up from it.

Yeah, may be you've mistaken in blend o_O

 

Target Spot light is supported, but there's no editor yet(you must change properties in the .light file through the Notepad)

I also get an error whenever I try to export Niko's body parts to back to ODR. Does that mean that ped support is still preliminary?

Ok, my importing problem was fixed by restarting max, but now I get the same error whilr trying to export my weapon model..

It doesn't work yet. May be 3Doomer made a mistake in plugs. Wait for new update.

Can't you send the report? Try to restart MAX.

Or give me the full error text. May be we should contact through ICQ/Skype...

Actually, it works, but there is a little problem- in game weapon appears slightly higher than it should be, other than that it worked great, I will try to post a screenshot.

VERY IMPORTANT THING:

Model meshes, lights, and skeleton dummies rotation and position are relative to model parent(dummy with ODR name).

Not delete, just restart 3Ds MAX after update.

 

Vertex color/alpha data's importing/exporting as well.

When converting the DFF, the vertex alpha data gets deleted.

We need a DFF importer capable of importing vertex alpha data.

We could ask Flitskikker, he researched Vertex Color in DFF.

vertex alpha's stored in different channels in GTA SA/VC/III and IV

you should make a script, that'll swap channel data

Should the gun's dummies be attached to something? Only the parent dummy seems to have any effect on the weapons confused.gif

 

E: Also, my smoothing seems to break on export no matter what I do.

Imported w_bat.odr, didn't want to bother making a mesh so I just edited the mesh of the original bat and made it wider at the top, exported back to .odr with no errors, now what?

 

Ah, didn't see the import openFormats thing. Lets try this ingame.

 

Cool, it works. I didn't apply a texture to it, though. Is there any specific shader I have to use in 3DS Max when doing materials? Can I just use Blinn, then use GTexture to make that into a .wtd? What about bumpmaps/reflections/specular?

What could be wrong ? The texture has this shader : default > gta_glass

The both diffuse and reflection maps are a white texture... And it doesn't really reflect biggrin.gif

You must change it to the GTA IV MESH material.

 

also GIMS won't let me import ODR.

Try to experiment with the materials...

 

DrDean you can use Standard material, but it will be converted to GTA IV Material at export, with default shader and diffuse texture only.

It's better to create GTA IV Material by yourself and set all desired properties.

It didn't say anything on the listener and I tried w_psg1.wdr and Luis's head and I can't use DEV GIMS any longer confused.gif because it can't download the configuration files.

Yeah, I auto-updated my GIMS and restarted max and it's crashing at the start.

 

I will delete it and try the manual install.

 

Manual install says it can't find the config file, then asks to auto update, but that doesn't work since it's just loading itself again and the config error happens again.
