Lurch
For the Suburban there, not sure if the Allison 1000 will even bolt up to a Cummins (doesn't it have an integrated chevy bell?). But I know the bigger Allisons out of busses came mounted to 6bt's stock (standard SAE #2 bellhousing like any big truck) so they'll bolt right up. Of course, since a fully dressed 24 valve is nearly 1400 lbs (compared to around 850-900 for a fully dressed 6.5), at least throw a d60 under the front. Too much engine for the 9.25 IFS junk to handle. Ya know, hypothetical dream and all.

And since this is hypothetical, why not a Dana 60 up front and a Dana 80 in the rear? Works for me.
Lurch
Expensive adapter though. $1390. I could probably buy a whole big 6 speed out of a bus or other big truck with bell, flywheel, and starter for that kind of money. I know there was a 90's 3500HD rolllback in the diesel shop of the trucking school I went to with a 12 valve 6bt hooked up to an Allison. Not sure if it was the little one out of a chevy or a big MD truck kind. Oh, and it had a D80 too (37 spline 10 lug chevy version). leik oh em jeez!
hmm. Means I could probably find a mid 90's 3500HD and just swap most of the drivetrain into a suburban. Never knew GM offered a Cummins in the 3500HD.
Lurch
They didn't. This one either had a 454 or a 6.5 stock and most likely a 4L80E or a some big 5 speed and they swapped it over. And by 3500HD I mean the ones with the big divider between the grill and bumper, tall frame, and 19.5's with 10 lug rear and 5 lug front. leik oh em jeez!
I knew what you were refering to, though I thought they used a 10 lug front end too. And I'm pretty sure I've seen a few 3500HDs with 8-lug front/rear. Guess it could depend on the year and model. (C/K) Come to think of it, I'm not sure I've seen a 4x4 3500HD... Edit: Nope, no 4x4 versions from the factory. And it does appear they all had 5 lugs up front, I must have been thinking of the F-450 or something. Edited April 12, 2011 by leik oh em jeez! Lurch
None that were technically factory but there was a pretty reputable company (Monroe?) doing 4x4 conversions that I believe were even sold through Chevy dealerships. Open Knuckle D70 front and 80 rear with 5.13's and 10 lug 19.5's all the way around. They even made a military version with most ending up in the UK. leik oh em jeez!
@Lurch: That first one looks like a beast. I've seen a good number of riced-out C1500s, but that military 3500HD is the ugliest GMT400 based truck I've ever seen.

sivispacem
Suzuki Hayabusa The best two-wheeled car ever. Oooh, are we doing bikes as well? FWIW, the Hayabusa is a massive, heavy, lumbering juggernaut. They've got a very high top speed, but are pretty slow elsewhere. On a twisty road, a half-decent 1000cc will eat one for breakfast. I guess, if you believe, anything can happen, and be different, lol. Anyhow yeah, the Hyabusa’s are heave piggy’s, popular for drag bikes, not much else, I'd rather have a lighter weight 1000cc (or hell any lighter better handling bike with a good amount of though corner acceleration), as sivispacem said, which would eat a Hayabusa on any road with some twisty turns. Actually I know they have the same chassis, engine, and drive train (except the earlier models have 4g63 6-7bolt engines, and the newer 95-99 models have 7bolt 4g63T engines.) The point of the thread is to pick 5 cars to have in your garage. Did I not? It never mentioned 5 different cars. Anyway, I only have 1/5 of my dream. I'm saving up to buy a 1st gen soon. The only other cars I might consider are: The Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 3000GT/Dodge Stealth Evo III or IV R32 (skyline) And the Dodge Cummins
