Hi everyone!

I'm probably the newest registered user on GTA, I come in peace!

I'm old in the sense that I've played almost all GTA games yet new since I never got the chance to play GTA IV. Well, I played it once but got sick and tired of taking that god-forsaken girl out to dates. Don't get me wrong, I AM hetrosexual, however, taking out a cyber girl when I want to blow stuff up really isn't as fun.

As I've got some time on my hands, I thought I'd give GTA IV a shot - any tips?

Also, I'm buying the game off a friend. He says it includes liberty city and ballad of gay tony. Are these two the complete set of GTA IV or is there more? My platform will be PS3.

Also, do you guys prefer console over PC? What are the advantages over which?

That's all, for now smile.gif

I thought you said "I AM homosexual" there. good thing I read it again and didn't make comments on that.

anyway, with your questions...

I think he means Grand Theft Auto 4: the complete edition. This includes original GTA4, The lost and damned and the ballad of gay tony, the DLCs.

Alternatively, he could mean Episodes from Liberty city, which just includes the DLCs (TLAD and TBOGT). I suggest you play vanilla first.

If you play as a Eastern European dude, its vanilla

If you play as a biker, its TLAD

If you play as a domincan dude, its TBOGT.

Apparently, PC version of GTA4 is pretty weak from what I hear, but I don't play it. Xbox is great.

when you first play it, cars are going to drive really weird. no longer are they go karts, they are now realistic cars. Remember to brake round corners. pretty much the only thing you need to remember, the rest is sort of explained.

Happy to help

Lolzies!

Good thing you read that again, yeah tounge.gif

When you say DLC, do you mean Downloadable Content?

The first time i played GTA IV was when i had to take that girl out for several dates and my charachter was that black/spanish dude that's on most of the posters. What expansion/episode/DLC(whatever) was that?

And yeah, it was INCREDIBLY hard for me to control the cars, VERY HARD. Actually it was because of the handling which also put me off the game but recently i've become all excited and fancy playing the game. (I deserve the time off since i'm working my ass off at University).

Thank you for sharing your knowledge

If you patch the pc version to 1.0.7.0.it`s as good or btter than console versions, + modding is very easy. nuff said.

And for platform advantages/disadvantages...

First of all, console versions will run no matter what. You wont have problems running the game because of your hardware, or because the game doesnt like your graphics card etc.

As for disadvantages:

-its not as easy to mod the console game as it is to mod the PC version

- you cant really mod that much on consoles, while on PC...well lets just say you can do really a lot.

- You cant change the way your game runs. If you experience lag or bad framerate etc. tough luck, you cant do anything.

PC version:

advantages:

Can mod it

Can set up your graphics how you want them - to an extent

Can get a flawless framerate - up to an extent - requires tons of luck

Video editor to capture your gameplay with. And then edit it a bit, add some effects, music, camera work, speed...you know.

disadvantages:

might run like sh*t because, as mentioned above, it may or may not like your graphics card, processor or whatever else.

easier to mod means more likely to encounter cheaters/modders online...

it doesnt necessarily have to run fine, it may crash, you may get texture glitches and so on.

There are some bugs in the PC version due to the nature of itself. Example - last mission in GTA 4, where if your framerate is too high, its nearly impossible to climb up the helicopter because you have to press the jump button quickly, depending on framerate. Its fine if the framerate is 30 fps, but as it gets higher and higher, you have to press the button faster.

Easily fixable, by using fraps to limit the framerate to 30 fps, but annoying nonetheless and ...well i dont think that kind of stupid bugs should be in the game when its released.

You could say that PC version is high risk high reward. lol.gif

Hey guys, guess what?

I met my friend today and he gave me the game. It turns out it's lost of damned and baallad of gay tony - liberty city stories. Which is NOT what I was hoping for.

I wanted to get GTA at least but he doesn't have it sad.gif

Looks like I'm gunna hve to buy it, which is np but, already spent £1,100 on my new PC. Don't want to spend any more!

I'll probably buy the complete edition for PS3.

That's Episodes from Liberty City, not Liberty City Stories. tounge.gif

But yeah I'd suggest playing through GTA IV first before getting into the Episodes. They're all great though, I have them all and had, and still have, a lot of fun playing them. smile.gif

Good news people!

I asked a friend of mine whether he has GTA IV and he did! So I requested to borrow the game and so, well, he accepted with a smile! I HAVE GTA IV!!!! w00t!

And TLOD + BOGT from my other friend!

But..I just get annoyed when there's too much adult scenes...it means I can't play in front of my family -_-'

And I know GTA IV is pact with them, so annoying. Again, don't get me wrong....I AM hetrosexual....and perfectly sane.....

Meh I guess there's no such thing as a perfect game (super mario all stars super mario world snes *cough*)

Any starting tips on the game before I play it?????

Trust me you ain't the only one who's not a fan of adult scenes in video games. There's just something very unappealing about seeing video game characters doing that stuff, it's just weird having to sit through that.

As for tips, I'm really not sure what to tell you there. Cops can be a bit annoying since killing them no longer gives you 2 stars, but 3 stars instead. And trying to escape from the police when they got a chopper in the air chasing you can be difficult. It's still easier than before to get away from them though since they put up a wanted radius on the map that you need to work your way out of. Going down allies and switching vehicles and trying to stay out of sight will get them off your back surprisingly quick.

Driving may feel a bit sluggish at first. Brake in turns and such for easier cornering. It took me a little while to get the hang of it, I was crashing all over the place, but once I got used to it I actually like it a lot more than in the older games.

But things shouldn't be too bad for you, the more you play the more you'll pick up on your own. icon14.gif
