1st gtaROCKER
I joined for GTA IV, but does that make me an idiot? Just because I discovered these forums through IV doesn't make me stupid, a n00b, or give me aids. I've answered more questions than asked, and I don't bring the quality of these forums down. My first post was better written than many older members, and I also speak for many other new members in this post. TheBlackProject
Only thing I noticed about this forum recently is the lack of memorable topics, and the sense of a 'community'. Back in the days, all sh*t used to kick off, and we had some of the most memorable members/topics ever. Now half of the older members on here only post to add some 'witty' comment to a topic made by a n00b. And the having to do 50 posts thing is pointless, as they'll just end up highjacking someone elses topic to ask their question anyway. What's the difference between a pointless post and a pointless topic? Where is the blue? Most memorable topic in GTAForums history. And that thread isn't even a year old yet. JoeyLeone25
Somebody mentioned that they think the sense of 'community' has left this place. Personally I think it's true, and I think it has enhanced and improved the forum. I remember when General Chat was first split from one confusing forum into the various sub-forums we are able to browse today. Back then a 'Changs Grill' or Forty/Viddy/3vil/Obrien thread would create all the activity, excitement and furore. However, now when I look around the board I see the forums (GTA V, GTA IV, etc) which were originally created in line with the purpose of this forum bursting at the seams with activity and life (which was no doubt helped by the severely underrated move of pushing the ‘community’ forums down the board/menu). Also, you have to remember that a lot of members sign up to these forums between the ages of 12-16 (when you have little responsibility and plenty of free time) and thus can spend hours chatting, arguing and just generally chillin' on the web. Those who signed up in '01/'02/'03 are no doubt a lot older, with their lives being entrenched with a lot more responsibility and thus probably don't have the time to check General Chat five/six times a day (as we did eight/nine years ago). To the older members the community spirit may have gone, but to the (sometimes younger) and more active members, Gen Chat no doubt still contains that prevailing spirit of communal friendship, occasional love and hatred. Josh
Where is the blue might have been memorable if you were the kind of guy who enjoys endless amounts of spam and off-topic sh*t (there was never really a topic to begin with). However for most users it retained the aura of a massive spamathon.

However for most users it retained the aura of a massive spamathon. I think it started getting resorted to spam once the first V was solved. Then the big quotetrain with Northstar and SR2ODE happened. But yeah, sh*t ton of spam. Good thing about the aspect of that topic, was that some people were actually trying to solve the V, and were literally working together.

Remember when one of the forumers said that they had a newborn baby on there? He even uploaded a picture if I remember correctly. Everyone was congratulating him and I think there was one person who said something bad about it like "who cares about the f*cking baby and lets get back on topic", everyone started flaming him. The Killa
We were all noobs once. Back when I joined it was all about GTA3 and VC, so everyone registered at the forum obsessed over it. Now that GTAF has expanded and grown so much, it's more about the community rather than actual GTA games. Thus, creating a "line" between the people who come for GTA and those who just come for the community chat. And both, of course Unfortunately very few of those GTA folks cross that line and make good post contributions and end up not lasting long at all. But I'm sure once GTAV gathers more hype we'll have the next big influx of new members. Also, was curious to see my first posts when I came here, just to see you know... First topic: my fav songs in vice: 1. any love fist songs 2.working for da weekeend 3.Pale shelter 4.I ran (duh) 5.u got another thing comin 6.cmon feel the noise 7.never say never 8.Love my way 9.madhouse 10:turn up the radio 11.Video killed the radio star 12.I wanna rock no duh because the chainsaw isnt a firearm. and leaf linx they take away ur firarms not ur meelee weapons Wow!!! like ANYONE belives that you found that by urself... u deseve to get a warning star. Algonquin Assassin
This was my very post on here. How true is that. That's why I love it, because the 80s theme hits you right in the face. 6,127 posts later, and it still feels like I'm a small fish in a really large pond. As a few have said there was a time where we were all "newbies", and didn't know what we we doing. By the time I got to this forum I already had a good idea how forums worked. My very first forum was a pro-wrestling one back in 2003. I was 17 at the time, and just didn't care what I said. It took a few warnings, and bannings to tow me into line. While there are some new members who are only here to cause a stir some genuinely don't know what they're doing. I always try to point the new members in the right direction in the GTA IV/V forums if they make a mistake, but I was like that once too. Maybe not so much on this forum, but forums prior to GTAF. In general I think this forum is great, and I'm not just saying that. It truly is. I've been on many forums where moderators act like corrupt cops. For the size of this forum the quality is actually pretty good. Edited March 29, 2011 by Miamivicecity
TheBlackProject
We were all noobs once. My first topic and post, on my OLD account. I joined when I was 11, then on the day of 06/06/06 I turned 12 years old and that's where I started my first post here which happens to be my first post and thread in any forum in the world. My cousin from Germany was at my house introducing me to YouTube, and a forum he went to. I loved how you could post smilies after your statement so I was looking for a forum to join. Then I came across GTA modding sites and it really interested me, so I probably found a link to this website and I joined. Anyway here they are, they're all funny and embarrassing. If you laughed please let me know. My 1st topic (and post) on GTAF, and every forum: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=246436&hl= Second: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=246514&hl= Third: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=246813&hl= Fifth: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=247602&hl= Sixth: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=247761&hl= Seventh: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=247777&hl= You know what? Jake
I never really cared for any seniority complex people have. We're all people. We all found GTAForums at one point or another. And whether you've been here since the beginning or registered yesterday doesn't matter to me. As long as you contribute and chat without being a doucher when it's not necessary. Finn 7 five 11
Silly noobs aren't always bad its better than having no-one on the forum, if only to prove them wrong, or explain things to them. The irony is so thick right now I could cut it with a knife. Either you have a very selective memory, or you're just an idiot. GTA's don't get announced at E3's, they usually get posted up on the website or announced in gaming magazines and the like, not at some gaming convention.every year its "GTA going to be announced at E3" blah blah blah. Needless to say, his ass was aptly handed to him on a plate soon thereafter. Yeah that was a stupid thing to say i'll admit that , you can't tell me you never said anything stupid.
