NCONiall
There aren't really any games out there that I truly despise. One that comes close is Gothic III - Forsaken Gods. Already built upon the bug ridden engine of Gothic III with more sh*t smeared over it. The story is absolutely appalling, full of plot holes; and the voices are just laughable (even compared to the odd English voice-overs the previous Gothics had). Not to mention the crashes; it was near impossible to finish the game until the community patches were released. I should also mention that the game before it, Gothic III, had three completely different endings, and yet they still managed to squirm through to make a continuation of the series - simply by just picking one ending. The only aspect I liked about the game was the music, but that was carried over straight from Gothic III. At least III had a decent story to it and held a decent atmosphere. When the original developer goes, the game's life goes with it. Edited June 20, 2013 by NCONiall

jamieleng
I remember buying a Japanese import of a fighting game based on 'The Fist of the North Star' for the SNES back in the early 90's (cost about £40). It was utter pants but probably would be a collectors item now, as I can't imagine it sold many copies. I can't remember what happened to it. Recently I'd say Borderlands & RAGE. The first because it's the most overrated game I've ever played & the latter because it felt like a tech demo with no soul. While neither were god awful, they are certainly the most disappointing for me this gen.

'We have a gazillion different guns' they all look the damn same. I must have played about 10 hours trying to get into it but the gameplay still sucked. I even jumped online to see what all the fuss was about. Minimally better but still awful

Very much I can see that Borderlands could scratch a certain itch, but I like to collect stuff in a game. Like in the recent Fallout games, I'd loot everything & then store at least one of every gun, item, clothing etc in one place. I think it has something to do with a bit of OCD. Borderlands just drove me mental with its bazillion guns & is one of the few games, no, the only game I couldn't bring myself to finish this gen. What makes me hate the Borderlands franchise even more, is the part the sequel played in making sure 'Aliens Colonial Marines' was a pile of Xeno dung. I feel kinda guilty sh*tting on a game I never finished (Borderlands) & a game I refuse to buy until it's going for £5 new. All I know is, Gearbox & especially Randy Pitchford would be no great loss to the industry. Edited June 20, 2013 by jamieleng
Finn 7 five 11
I suppose Avatar for PS3 was my worst choice, it wasn't even that bad really, it's just i'm pretty smart stingy and selective with picking up games so I only really pick up AAA titles, I know I have to get into other games and I really should, but I struggle to find the willpower to play them, believe it or not, I still have Metal Gear Solid on PS2 which I have never played. Right now i'm trying to force my way through games outside the usual few I play, it's hard though because I always end up back on COD MP, or just don't play games.
