A properly optimized game would have fared a lot better with lower requirements. The only people to blame are the ones working at Rockstar. Poorly optimized games are the most demanding because they are never configured well enough to perform on mid-range systems. GTA IV being a game for the next gen PCs is a load of crock-sh*t that Rockstar made up to cover the fact that they failed in porting and optimizing the game properly. This is also the reason why, for some people, it even struggles on the most high end systems that you can find it the market today. It all comes down to being poorly optimized. There is a huge amount of interactivity which they could have cut out, but they have stuck to their guns and put in everything to make the game what it is. That is why I like it. The RAGE engine was awfully optimized on PCs. There isn't even THAT much going on and it has craptastic graphics, yet performance is still sub-par. GTA IV is just a bad port. It's funny, but with high my game stutters a little, and with everything low, it's unplayable And I don't like FPS too high, I have nauseas with it But will my computer brake with those settings? This program will show your video card chip temperature.
