Waste
What country are you from first of all? Also, have you given any thoughts on trying to build one yourself? It's not too complicated and can save you some money.

Girish
You don't have to go find someone to put the PC together for you. Over here, almost every hardware store that sells computer peripherals will put together the PC for you according to your specifications without any additional charges. I believe it would be the same in your country. State your budget and someone will put together a fantastic build for you, much better than the branded PC you get for the same price. @Chimpsie: Nice avatar. Wolf68k
The problem with branded PC is that for gamers they won't last 4-6yrs. 2-3 yrs at the most and I'm being generous. Now Dell and HP go make gaming PC that could last for 4-6yrs allowing you to upgrade, but even that's limited. More importantly it will cost you a large sum of money, so much so that it would be cheaper to buy the parts and build it yourself and get the same result and possibly allow you to upgrade further than what Dell and HP would let you do. Go to Dell/HP and have a look. Cheapest Dell listed for "Gaming and Performance" is $500 but it comes with a AMD Athlon II X4 640 and ATI Radeon HD 4200. CPU is meh nice started budget. GFX is less than meh and might even be an on-board chipset. Plus you're only getting 4GB of RAM. Now if we go further up the ladder to say $1000 they have Intel Core i7 930 with a NVIDIA GeForce G310 512MB and 6GB of RAM. Ok the CPU is nice but again I do believe that's on-board graphics and if it's not it's still bottom of the barrel. You can spend ~$60 at Newegg and get a GT 430 and get better performance, or better still for ~$75 for a GT440 and basically double the performance vs the G310. I can't knock the 6GB of RAM at all, unless it was really crappy value RAM and I mean seriously crappy but I can't tell so. Having a look at HP; on the lowest end ringing in for $600 you get AMD Athlon II X4 640 and nVidia GeForce 315 and 6GB of RAM. Ok so the same CPU as the low in Dell, ok fine whatever. Now I've been using this site to compare ATI cards http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/131 and this page for the nVidia cards http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/132 You'll notice on the ATI page the 4200 isn't even listed, but at least on the nVidia list the 310 and 315 are, however the lowest end 4 series is the 4350 so far or not that's what I'll use to compare in place for the 4200. And in a nut shell the 315 will beat the 4350 so it's a safe bet it'll smoke the 4200. Again let's go the $1000 rig. Intel Core i7-950; nice. 9GB of RAM; HOLY COW! AMD Radeon HD 6450; the ATI card list has the almost every line listed as * because it seems it varies from maker to maker of the card. After doing some searching the best I can figured is that this card is more or less equal to a nVidia GT440. Conclusions: No matter which way you go with Dell or HP you're paying for over priced system but primarily paying for their tech support which isn't all that great. I will say this. Finding drivers on HP is a LOT less of a hassle than it is for Dell. /edit I will say there are other people online that you can buy a pre-build gaming PC. However they aren't name brands and you asked for a branded/name brand.
OverTheBelow
Also should note that branded pcs often have their BIOS locked, meaning no overclocking whatsoever.

Wholeheartedly agree. My first venture into PC gaming was a Compaq, lasted me about a couple of months. Then i got into custom rigs and such. I still use the case from the Compaq to this day. They also lock the BIOS, so you can't hardware overclock your CPU.

GTA3Freak-2001
All you need to do is give us a budget, the folks here will kindly put up a build which you can take to a local PC store where you ask if they can build a machine with the specs we've given you. Trust me, I've just had a brilliant new PC built thanks to advice from people here and the PC store I chose.
