Big PS3 problem.

So,when I start my PS3 everything is normal.But when I start a disk game the TV turns black,digital games are working fine though.This started happening about a week ago, I have a PS3 slim 120GB and I bought it about 8 months ago.The disks are in perfect condition and it happens with all of them.

Any ideas whats wrong?

Maybe your blu-ray laser is screwed up or something. Do you still have warranty? Might want to call Sony.

Yep,im still in waranty and have a receit.I was going to go back to extra vision(Where I bought it)andsee what they say.But mabye I will call up sony isntead.

NO! Don't go to Sony, just return it to the place you bought it from so you can get a new one. All Sony is going to do is fix it, so it can last you 7 months at best.

 

No need to waste time. I've had my PS3 fixed by Sony 6 times already, and they all lasted 7-8 months at most. Next time I'm buying warranty from the place I buy it.

 

Beats shipping it and waiting a month for it to return too.

EDIT:Can I keep all my saves and downloadable games if I get a new PS3?

That is really important to me.

You can back up your game saves via a USB storage device. As for games you can't, just re-download them later.

 

Also make sure you de-activate your account from your PS3 so you can still have the 5 user download limit. You can de-activate by signing in online and going under account settings and select system activation, then de-activate by selecting the "Game" option.

If it IS the bluray drive malfunctioning, Sony will most likely just replace the drive meaning it'll be like brand new and will last much longer than the 7 months aforementioned.

I didnt pay for extra warrenty,and ALOT of people on other forums are saying sony just ask you some questions like:

"Is it plugged in? Ok, did you hold down the power button until the light turned green? Ok, is your TV turned on? Well, your PS3 is clearly broken beyond repair; the only thing you can do is send in your console and a bucket full of money and we'll fix it for you."

It is true, contact Sony as Xtra-Vision gives only a 28 day warranty on everything.

What kind of sh*t deal do you get in Ireland? In the UK all electronics come with a 12 month warranty by law and its up to the retailer to sort it.

Soo,what should I do?

Go back to extravision and see wha they say ,I have a 1 year warrenty.

Or call up Sony,which I dont want to do because im bad at talking on a phone.

Ok,I went up to extravision and explained the situtation.They said I should call sony and they wil ltalk me throught it and that I may need to send it off to them.
