cidamelo
Hi friends! Do you own a business? I had a restaurant and a clothing/shoes/school objects/toys store. And now I am a business partner with my husband in a Machining enterprise I had the restaurant in the 80's, I was very young. My father gave it to me, and it was a restaurant in an historical city, called Sabará. The restaurant was near the house of a famous brazilian bandeirante, called Borba Gato (I lived in this house for a short period look the photo http://www.idasbrasil.com.br/idasbrasil/ci.../port/borba.asp it's the first). The restaurant had a great food, with the typical culinary of my state (Minas Gerais). The restaurant was a success! But later I got tired to have a restaurant, it gives a lot of work, so I gave it to my cousin. Later, my father gave me this clothing/shoes/school objects/toys store. Unfortunately, it was a failure It was called "Cida Modas" (Cida's Fashions), but most of days NO ONE came to my store It was in a poor neighborhood of my city, but it had a lot of shops and buyers. But the street my store was located was full of mud, so many products of mine was covered my dirt The district is called "Barreiro", something like "Full of mud " So after 2 months I fled the store, it was a failure. Now I have a machining business, but now I'm business partner with my husband. We are having a lot of success, but also a lot of work!!! It is in an industrial city. And you? Have you ever owned a business? I think that have a business is very fun!!

_Rob_
Lol when I was a kid I'd buy sweets on the way to school and sell them at profit to kids who had to get the bus in, therefore bypassing shops. Worked great I was earning like £50 a day near the end, I gave up eventually as I realised it was illegal , does that count?

sivispacem
I used to be (and sort of still am) self-employed. Not the same as owning a business per se, but I've done freelance security consulting as the main focus of my work- basically providing security advice, analysis and options for businesses and individuals who are operating in or visiting dangerous parts of the world. It's been a case of tagging along with already-organised companies, but technically I'm working independently. My father and mother own about 70%, my grandparents own 15% and my two other brothers and sister own the other 15%. There are about sixteen stores in total. It is because you need a license to sell and have to pay tax on your profits. I'm starting up my own photography "business" I suppose you could call it. Exhibition/Documentary stuff mostly. Chinatown Wars
I would actually in elementary school sell my home-made lunches for money. (like 50 cents an item.) though it all went downhill when my mom found out. Did make a nice $40 though. I also did a scam where I had a broken camera and would "take" photos for $1 a kid. After a week or so I just kept on saying that my moms printer was broken and they might be out in a couple of weeks. Made hella f*cking money from that, cant really remember how much though. But that was nearly three years ago so it's probably gone up even more. I think it was like $1.85 when I was in elementary.

Anyway I only did it for a week or so before I told and had to apologize to the class.

I don't think the cops will bust down on you for selling sweets, i can't imagine one of your buyers coming to school one day with a wire. My father owns and drives a concrete mixer and drops of concrete to work sites, he says he will give it to me when i get my full license if i want, it pays 100+ grand a year and you can tax deduct everything but its long hours, (4 in the morning till 4pm) boring work, and i have got a decent brain and good marks from school, i feel i could do better. El Zilcho
Sold sweets in Year 7, made £1300ish from it over about 9 months. That's as close as it comes to running/owning a business but I'm definitely intending to pursue a career in business of some sort, starting at college. Josh
I really want to start a business online, doing something like prize-draws and quizzes for money. You have to be careful with that sy=tuff though because you're always toeing the line between being legal and being an illegal lottery.

cactus.
well, I'm technically the co-owner of CeramicRussia.com, where we sell Gzhel at everyday, unbeatable prices But as you may notice, the site is down at the moment. I don't possess the tech know-how to maintain a site (I'm only responsible for the bank/paypal accounts and English text on the site), and instead that's the other co-owner's job, who is a friend of mine living in Russia. He can get this sh*t for super cheap and in turn sell it for a small marginal profit, which is why we really are better than all the other online Gzhel retailers that charge twice the price as we do. Usually I don't worry about the site being temporarily down because we generally just make a few big sales around the holiday period, plus my friend is usually quick to respond. But it's been about 6 weeks since I've heard from him and I'm starting to become genuinely worried about him nevermind the site.
