PrussianPrince
I have bought Victoria II a few while ago and I eventually lost the serial key, writen within the box, that have been borrowed to a friend and never got it back. I managed to download the patches and I eventually installed them, worked fine. But as my OS was pretty old I decided to re-place it with a new one. So I reinstalled the OS and re-installed Victoria II. I tried to upgrade to patch 1.3 I got from their forums, but this time it didn't worked anymore, I got this error anytime I open the game. See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.************** Exception Text **************System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Wolf68k
One thing I might do is uninstall and reinstall the game and then run it before patching to see what happens. However before that both that screen shot and the text you posted in the code box tells you want to do to find out more of what's going on. The text starts off with: Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail So do that. Then it says to make a change to the machine.config file which I assume is a file in the game's folder. In there you do what is describes to turn on the debugger. Their forums might be the best place to get help too. There you'll have their dev's and other more knowledgeable people that know the game can better help you. I also noticed at their forums the 1.3 patch is a beta patch, so that could be part of the problem. The only patch that Filefront.com has 1.2 which one can assume is the official patch out now and the latest one you need to really worry about
PrussianPrince
My topic on the forums is untouched, that's why I appealed here. And as I said, before, the 1.3b patches worked, but after the reinstall of my OS, it didn't anymore.
