fgcarva1
^^No one asked when you first played GTA, this is a discussion on hold you should be to play GTA. I believe, mature enough to understand that it is just a game and that many of the things the protagonist does are not correct and that they must not repeat what they see or do on their videogame. Zisis1992
I started playing GTA with GTA II and Vice City, back in 2003 (i was 11 years old) i think that it has to do with the character... If you can critisize that -for example- killing is no good (thiefting etc.) and you do them in the game only then you are ok to play. In other words, if you are mature enough. When the IV launched in 2008 for PS3 (i'm not sure about the chronology), a TV channel here was talking about how violent are the GTA series games... And the next program after the news, are usually thrillers, action films (killing, thiefting, full of prostitutes etc. )... How idiots they are... Matty
I was around 9-10 when I first played Grand Theft Auto, also. I honestly think that just so long as the individual playing knows that it is just a game, and not real life; then I think that they are old enough to be able to play, which has already been mentioned by other people in this topic. I think that even if you are 18 years old, and can't realise that it is just a game and not real life; you are still not mature enough to play it (which are the ones that apparently represent the rest of society when it comes to people being against violent games, unfortunately). Bad Girls
I was 10 when I first played GTA in 2003. As a kid, it was paradise.. best game in the world. The games are limited, but I loved the feeling of how you could do anything you wanted. Steal a car, run someone over, kill police, go to the beach, go to the airport, do stunts, etc. Nearly 10 years later.. I have yet to commit any of the thousands of crimes I've commit in a GTA game. I knew when I played it that it was just a game for fun and while it took me years to understand the inside crude humour ("Joey, when you gonna drill me?" and "Putting out since 1856" or whatever it says on the GTA3 firetrucks) I never thought it was anything exactly disturbing. I've been playing videogames in general since age 5 and the first violent game I played was Goldeneye when I was about 6 or 7.. There are some people who shouldn't play violent videogames because of their psychological make-up, but this is little to do with maturity or age. Interesting enough some of the so-called "videogame inspired crimes" have been commited by adults in their late teens, 20s and 30s...
