_Rob_
As most of you will know GTA3 has a very special birthday coming up, and in celebration I have decided to start a petition. This petition asks that Rockstar Games makes GTA3's source code open. This means that it would allow the modding community access to the GTA3 engine itself and would allowing modding to be taken to the next level. I am very much aware that this isn't a likely thing to happen, but you don't know until you try! So Sign the petition here http://www.petitiononline.com/opengta3/petition.html Edited May 5, 2011 by bammargera

Killzone56k
What about a petition to remaster the whole III era for the current generation of consoles instead?
_Rob_
What about a petition to remaster the whole III era for the current generation of consoles instead? Would be cool, but far more unlikely, think about it they're working on Agent, Max Payne 2, LA Noire and probably GTA V, a hole HD re master is a huge task whereas a source code of an exe is a simple upload. Claude Speed.
If you had at least tried to write using proper grammar maybe Rockstar would take a look at it. And you're English, for f*cks sake. GTA III hasn't even been released for free yet (I'm saying 'yet' because I think they will release it for free like the older GTAs) and people have tried the same thing for GTA 1 and 2, which were free by then, but R* still didn't say anything. Well that's about as helpful as a kick in the face, and it doesn't hurt to try, the people who worked on III will have been different people etc, besides the whole thing will be reworded when I eventually submit it to R*. So if your in the same boat of the rest of us, sign up, otherwise stop being such a grammar Nazi. Edited March 22, 2011 by bammargera
Claude Speed.
Well, excuse me, but when you write something rather important you try to use proper grammar but if you say you're gonna change it then that's ok. Also, signed!
_Rob_
Yeah I'm with you, but to quantify, the petition itself is simply worded because I am aware that a lot of people who have English as a second language are likely to sign, however when I word the finalised letter to R* it'll be completely re written. Anton4291
I wish Rockstar would release the GTA III trilogy for PS3. I don't have a PS2 or a PC powerful enough to play it, and the PS3 does not have backwards compatability (WTF Sony?). I fell asthough I have missed out on three great games . gamerzworld
Unless EA agrees to having RenderWare's source code out in the public, it's not going to happen. Not to mention Rockstar still hasn't released the source for GTA1 or GTA2 even though some of the developers from the old DMA have asked for it. And it's not like GTA III requires a powerful PC to run, you cheapskate. Find me a PC that's at least 5 years old that could NOT run GTA III on at least 30 FPS. Team Bondi are the ones developing L.A. Noire. Rockstar Games are publishing it. Oh, and internet petitions never work, dude. But the guy was right about how it's important to use proper grammar and punctuation when addressing someone in the industry. Think of it like a job interview; if you want someone to take you seriously then by all means, go that extra mile to show that you're better than the competition. Lastly, I love GTA III, but I'm not signing something that has no chance of working. Sorry, dude.
_Rob_
If you were to read my reply you would realise the actual petition you see is just for the use of us, this includes people with little English, so it was written as simply as possible to make it easier for them to understand, it will be re-written into a full letter when i eventually send it to R*. If you think it has no chance of working, fair enough, but think wouldn't it have been easier to sign it than tell us you haven't? lastly you don't know something won't work until you try, stranger things have happened. Node
hey dudes, nice thought and all but rockstar are making BIG profits with new generation gaming i doubt they'll even look back to the GTA 3 era, and its possible that most of the people who worked for rockstar back then dont work for them now. So IMHO i dont think this will work also even if they do agree and do release code or whatever, not alot of people will even notice they will be to bothered about GTA V and other big games. good luck anyways guys

_Rob_
PS3 fat can run emulation Only 1 or 2 models of the PS3 fat can run PS2 games, the rest unfortunately only PS1, which is a big reason why R* should release a classics triple pack on PSN!
