How To Make DYOM Compatible With SALC

As we all know DYOM isn't compatible with SALC and many other TC's as needed files have been deleted, or some IMG's have been changed effectively meaning DYOM doesn't have all of it's required files.

 

Well with help from PatrickW and Blaster_nl SALC is now compatible, it's very simple to get it to work and shouldn't take you more than a couple of minutes (plus some IMG rebuild time).

 

First what your going to have to do is delete the "player.img" from your "SALC\models" folder and replace it with the default CJ version of "player.img".

 

This will now enable DYOM to work but there is another step to take before it's completely stable.

 

There is a corrupt TXD file in the "gta3.img" located in "SALC\models" folder, so firstly download the attached gtagarage patch, inside you will find a file called "cskydark.txd", using "G-IMG", or another img tool open the "gta3.img" use the find function (usually CTRL-F) and locate the original "cskydark.txd", delete that then locate the newly downloaded "cskydark.rar", extract the "cskydark.txd" to your desktop, then go back to your IMG tool and add the new "cskydark" to the archive, then go "commands\rebuild" and wait, this process may take a few minutes so why not get some coffee while you wait smile.gif.

 

When the archive is rebuilt, run the game, and start DYOM as usually, unfortunately you will be spawned a long way from LC, but if you use the tools function of DYOM it's very simple to teleport to land!

 

 

Your now free to make missions in LC to your hearts content!

Erm, ok not quite sure what isn't clear, care to specify? But basically SALC doesn't work with DYOM, if you replace the player.img with the default SA one and replace the txd file "cskydark" with attached gtagarage file then it will.

So, I can download SALC and then I will do this and then I can play Dyom in Liberty City????

Yeah, install a fresh SA, download SALC install that over the top, then delete the player.img, replace with the default SA one and download the txd patch in the first post, install that and you can play DYOM in LC

Isn't it better to modify a starting point and CJs clothes, because they causes bug as I know?

Can anyone send me a SALC latest main.scm? I might take a look. It's possible to 'hack' DYOM starting clothes, it's not possible to apply some custom clothes though.

I can if you want, but the clothes you start in in DYOM is defined in DYOM not SALC, so I don't think it'll work.

Okay... I hope that DYOM team won't kill me for that.

 

I've edited DYOM SCM to spawn player at different location (taken from SA:LC main) and wear different clothes (from SA:LC aswell, I couldn't apply all clothes though). It should make mod compatible with SA:LC. It's untested though.

If it's just for personal use, there is not much we can do against people hacking DYOM. But we try to prevent there being different versions floating around, as that may cause incompatibilities with the current or future versions. And especially with a mod like DYOM is is important to have compatibility to be able to share missions. It's already hard enough to maintain backwards compatibily when creating new versions, we don't need the added complexity of having other versions floating around that we need to keep happy.

 

So I would appreciate if you not distribute modified versions of DYOM.

I hope you understand and respect our arguments.

 

We've already discussed options to make future versions more TC friendly, by being able to configure the start position and positions of for example wasted and busted respawn points.

Okays, I just wanted to help people trying to get it to work with SA:LC. I personally don't use DYOM.

If I install this file, DYOM won't be compatible with normal SA... right? Cuz I have more than one SA.

Yeah. But you can make another MPACK and name it in different way.

I made MPACK6 and renamed ''5#Design your own mission#'' to ''6#Design your own mission#'' and it crashes. I don't even get an error pop-up confused.gif

 

Do I have to follow Bam's tutorial first?

Try to rename it to "6#DYOM SA:LC#" or something.

Just use the original DYOM, the only annoying thing is you spawn in the ocean, put a marker on the map and use the "teleport to marker" tool and your good to go.

Well, you can always put some extra files in player.img, which will restore clothes compatibility with DYOM and that's all.
