dozingoff.gif Okay this is starting to get really annoying. I'm not sure if others have this problem but whenever I try to insert smilies with the smiley box,

the smiley icon codes (or whatever you call them), don't go exactly where I want them to be.

Let me put it this way.

Instead of going like this:

It goes like this...

Hope you understand what I'm saying..

Even when your cursor is at the correct place?

I'm guessing this could be a browser related issue. Have you tried switching browsers to see if the same thing occurs there too?

It normally does that for me if I'm typing then go to a different tab or if I click outside of the text box. Just a matter of making sure the cursor is where you want the smile to be.

Even when my cursor is at the correct place.

And I tried it on firefox, works fine. But not Chrome. So I guess it could be a browser problem maybe.

Hmm, I remember the very same thing happening to me a while ago. IIRC, I think it might be something to do with one of your add-ons, but I'm not very sure. Restart Firefox with add-ons disabled and check if it still happens.

Which version of FF is this, btw?

I remember I used some time back and worse version of FireFox and it happened to me as well. But, I've updated it to with a newer version and everything works fine. Try that too, might work.

Also, you can also type the codes of the smiles manually, it's not that hard to remember them. wink.gif

@girishb - I'm using version 3.6.10 of firefox. And I think you misunderstood me there. I don't have the problem on firefox, just chrome. Firefox is working fine for me (with the exception of it being slow).

The problem is happening on Chrome. I've disabled all add-ons and the problem still persists.

I get the same thing, but usually only when I click outside the box.

What I hate though, is that for some reason this happens.

1. move hand over to mouse from keypad

2. accidentally bump some random key, wish I knew which one

3. deletes an entire line of my post. so if my mouse was HERE, it would delete all the way up to "which"

4. bad words

Oh yeah, completely misunderstood. Sorry about that.

Did this problem occur before on Chrome?

If not, then I guess you could try reinstalling the browser and deleting all preferences/cache, etc. to see if it changes anything.

It's called Ctrl + Z or right mouse button --> Undo

This is the first time (on chrome). Never happened to me before on any other browsers.

Anyways, I've deleted cache, disabled extensions, and yet, the problem is still persisting.

Haven't tried uninstalling though. Either way, I'm not sure if it will fix this problem.

Hmm, a quick Google search tells me that this is actually a well known issue on Chrome. Not sure if it has been fixed in the latest version, but is your Chrome up-to-date?

If no dice, then I guess going back to Firefox would be logical until a solution is found.

All up to date.

Anyways, only solution is sticking with firefox for now until this problem gets fixed with chrome. Thanks for the help though icon14.gif <--- (typed in the code.)

Latest version here and no problems, I guess you could try clearing all browsing data.

Wow, the problem is gone.

The weird thing is, it stopped after I cleaned my registry with RegCure (been experiencing fatal errors with my GTA IV, so I tried registry cleanup to see if that would do the fix).

Anyways, I'd say problem solved. Smileys work fine for me now.
