National Football League 2011-2012

On another subject, how the f*ck did Eli Manning earn a spot in the Pro Bowl but Stafford didn't? Stafford broke the Lions' single-season records for TD passes and passing yards and led the perennial underdogs to the playoffs. How's shattering fifty years of Layne-tainted bad football not better than Favre Lite? I'd rather see Tebow shock the world by making the starting AFC position and simultaneously have Stafford in the NFC's third than no Stafford at all. Events like this are why I almost quit watching football altogether.

The Pro Bowl is just a big popularity contest, and Eli captains the more popular of the two teams in the biggest sports market in the country. I also think he got a lot of votes because of his numerous 4th quarter heroics this season. I think they have 5 comeback wins in the 4th quarter. That's pretty clutch. One could also make an argument for Stafford, I won't deny that.

Colts got the number 1 pick. Blessing in disguise tbh.

They could set themselves up nicely by picking Andrew Luck or even trading that number one pick, they'd get a lovely package for him. It will be a nice off-season, I also think Brees contract is up this year but I honestly don't see him going anywhere.

Can't wait for this Cowboys/Giants game.

Could not agree more. I think I might go on NBC's website and watch the whole game from the cable cam. I love that angle.

Kitna should be the starter.  cool.gif

(srsly, he should at least be the second stringer. He played better than Romo did in 2010, even though that's not saying much.)

I'm tired of people hating on Romo just because it's the trendy thing to do. Romo is a very good starting QB in this league. Since Oct 30th Romo has a 19:2 TD:INT ratio, and around 70% completion. That is amazing. You'd have trouble finding three guys whose stats are better over that span.

People like to talk about Romo's December record as a starter (3-4), but if you see the numbers he averages over 300 yards per game, 67% completion, and has something like a 20:3 TD:INT ratio career in December. That is also a ridiculous stat. But people see the 3-4 and assume Romo did something to lose the game. It has reached a point where it's just senseless Romo bashing. Not saying you are doing that, Senex, but I'm tired of other people doing it. I am very critical when people make mistakes, but they have to earn the criticism.

Two of the Cowboys' losses in the past month have come on failed special teams in the final seconds, and horrible defense. Both the Cardinals' game and Giants' games showed Romo putting our team in a position to win, and the rest of the guys failing to hold up their end. Romo does everything one man can do and his team lets him down. If you wanna bag on Romo then give me some reasons why. Everything on paper and on the field is stacked in his favor. Can't blame the guy for being on a team that lacks clutchness and discipline.

Lololol

He is a semi elite QB though.

I'm sorry but when ever i see some one say "Stop hating on Romo" i always think back to that botched FG snap against the Seahawks.

I think what Seattle does in the Draft is get another pass rusher. none of the good QBs will last til the 11th or 12th pick (baring coin toss with KC). I'd rather wait for next year and hopefully we can get Barkley. We need another pass rusher. Chris Clemons can not do it all. But Seattle's rookies this year have been awesome and extremely promising. Doug Baldwin, Ricardo Lockett, KJ Wright, Richard Sherman, James Carpenter, John Moffitt. all of them played above expectations in my book. Baldwin ended up leading the Hawks in most receiver categories which is amazing for an undrafted WR.

I know what you're saying tubbs. It's ways good to see you're draft out class itself it brings a lot of hope.

JJ Watt has completely met the standards of a first round pick and Brooks reed did far more than expected, albeit because Mario got hurt. (Texans are cursed I swear)

So it seems I am the fantasy champion. I'm awesome.

Draft Andrew Luck, have him learn at Peyton Manning's feet for two years, and Indy's set for the next ten.

no surprise spags and devaney were let go by the rams. sucks for spagnuolo, he tried so hard and had a lot of respect from his players. it's tough to have your first gig as a head coach with a team that's totally rebuilding. devaney i could care less, him and most of the front office need to go, terrible talent evaluation and their drafts have been sh*tty. hopefully mcdaniels gets fired too.

i wonder who the rams will pursue for the HC job. jeff fisher maybe? idk if kroenke will solve that issue first or pursue a new GM first. time will tell.

1. Jeff Fisher would be a good choice with Steven Jackson at RB. I've seen the man work with less talent before at QB. Not only would Fisher rebuild that defense, something the Rams haven't been known for since the Eighties, he would establish the threat that is Steven Jackson. Jackson+Fisher=2,000 yard season.

2. Jeff Fisher and the Bucs? Unstoppable. It'd be just like the rise of the Titans. All the talent's there, and he'd be the right man for the job.

3. Jeff Fisher and the Dolphins? I don't see it working out. However, the Dolphins have a good defense. Draft a QB, and they're set by throwing fifty times a game to Marshall.

4. I really hope Fisher doesn't go to the Jags. Cannot stand that franchise.

On another note, has anybody thought about Dick Vermeil? The Rams should rehire him. His offensive systems are tops. Hell, he'd even make a seamless fit in SD right about now.

I was at the game! Mark Sanchez looked horrible lol, especially on the interceptions he threw to the defensive lineman and to the linebacker.

Don't get anyone started on Leaf. Andrew Luck is said to be the best QB prospect since Peyton Manning, I just don't think this guy is going to be that "flop".

There are a lot of teams in both conferences this year that I could see going to the Superbowl. I usually only feel that way about a narrow few, but I'd say this season there are more teams I could see going to the Superbowl than not, which makes the playoffs very interesting.

In the AFC, I can't see Houston, Denver, or Cincinnati making it. I thought Houston before they lost all their QBs, but now I don't believe they can score enough. Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and New England all have legitimate arguments to take the AFC crown. I am leaning Pittsburgh, but now that they've lost Mendenhall I'm not sure. They don't run the ball like the old Steelers, but still his absence could affect the rhythm of the offense and cause problems.

In the NFC, I could see everyone making it except Atlanta and I'll say San Francisco. The Niners defense is outstanding, especially against the run, but I don't believe Alex Smith is a Superbowl QB (don't give me the Trent Dilfer argument), and Frank Gore can't stay healthy so I worry about his impact offensively. Detroit is my wildcard pick of the whole playoffs. They can be very easily beaten or they can be a terrifying surprise. New Orleans and Green Bay are the cream of the crop in the NFC, and the Giants have the experience and are playing better of late, so they could get into the mix.

I think I'm gonna call it:

AFC:

Houston over Cincy, Pittsburgh over Denver

Baltimore over Houston, Pittsburgh over New England

Baltimore over Pittsburgh

NFC:

New Orleans over Detroit, Giants over Atlanta

Green Bay over Giants, New Orleans over San Fran

Green Bay over New Orleans in a shootout rematch of week 1

Green Bay over Baltimore in the Superbowl

I am not committed to any of these picks, I just made them as I typed this. We'll see how well going with my gut works out as these playoffs go along

I honestly think Giants are going to win it again. They did this last time they won the superbowl, came into the playoffs with great momentum and just won. I'm hoping that Tebow doesn't get far, the 'Tebow Hype' train has died down quite a bit and I'm tired of listening to Skip Bayless blap his mouth over and over and over and over about the guy. Tebow is good but jesus christ.

The Giants are a hell of a scrappy team. They deserve to be in the playoffs, but I don't think they are a superbowl caliber team given their competition this year. With the way the Saints have been playing lately I can easily see them making it to the NFC Championship in a shootout with Green Bay. But I have absolutely no idea who would win that game. It would be whichever team's defense makes the most mistakes.

I won't lie, I got emotional seeing how happy Andre was. He's a great man and he deserves everything good that can possibly come to him.

Today the team reverted back to their 7 win streak selves. Good clean play where everybody plays within the system.

Defense played absolutely well, and that JJ Watt pick-6 was just incredible, it really was the momentum changer.

Offense played well, TJ Yates did very well as a rookie, only made one big mistake and only a couple of bad throws at the beginning until he got his nerves in check. Foster proved himself to be all that we thought he would be, beast.

The Ravens are going to be hard though but if we can play like we did today then we can win, but we have to play to perfection.

We need to win for AJ, he deserves it.

Sean Payton is too good a coach to let things like fumbles get to him though. I hate the Aints, but Payton and Brees deserve respect.

Meh, I say our top four positions of need are LB, CB, OT, and OG. All our draft picks need to be for one of these positions.
