Yep, the Packers played like dog sh*t. I keep hearing my friends talk about how now they can focus on the Superbowl instead of the win record or how they can feel free to rest Rodgers and other starters sooner in the game, but damn it would have been amazing to set such a prestigious record.

Ah well. We didn't deserve to win that game.

Ah well.  We didn't deserve to win that game.

I tend to agree with your friends. That's a lot of pressure to be carrying into the playoffs and, in particular, the two weeks in between the conf. finals and the Super Bowl. You could even say expectations were heightenend because they were the defending SB champs and because they hadn't lost in about a year. So yeah, there would be even more pressure on them than say, the Pats in 07 when you factor all that in.

I thought they'd be able to go 19-0, but I actually think the loss may be to your advantage in the long run. Sure, anything's possible in the NFL; but I have a hard time envisioning anyone but Green Bay emerging from the NFC.

Twang.

They showed weakness with that loss. They lost a bit of swag. They're no longer the undefeated and undefeatable juggernaut everyone thought they were. Football is very much a psychological/mental game, and with a single loss (especially to such a lowly team) the power they projected has pretty much vanished, even if they still have the best record in the league at the moment. I still think there are a handful of teams who could take them now. Patriots and Saints for sure, and the Ravens (maybe) and Steelers could possibly do it if you don't think of this week's poor showing from both teams as indicative of their actual talent.

Why must the Raiders continue to piss all over the fans' hopes and dreams by complete donkey-dick, fourth quarter bottlings?

I tend to agree about that situation being crazy pressure, but for what it's worth the Pack seemed to be carrying it pretty well. They just had an off day. Maybe they overlooked KC a little bit. Something I think a lot of observers forget is that even the worst teams are full of professional athletes, and that anyone can win on any day. Just because a team is 2-12 or what have you, they still can't be disregarded. Winning in the NFL is work.

the packers lost because their offensive line was all kinds of messed up. people were subbing for injured players and the normal starters were shuffled around in spots other than their normal spot on the OL. this led to rodgers getting pressured wayyyy faster than he's used to, which led to sacks and bad throws.

it's a shame they didn't go undefeated, but if it was that easy, someone else would have done it in the past 39 years.

also i'd like to throw out a big LOL to austin pettis. he got caught using PEDs, which i find funny cuz he was still doing absolutely terrible. must have been using a hell of a masking agent. the rams could actually get the first pick this year. i don't see how they could possibly beat the steelers and 49ers to finish out the season. the colts play jacksonville to finish the season which imo is a winnable game for them. it will be interesting to see how everything plays out.

The Packers deserve credit for their playing but they are far overrated. Look at their schedule. Apart from the Saibts they haven't played anyone(No Patriots, Steelers, Texans, Cowboys(choke but have lots of talent).....the best teams they play are okayat best.)

I missed the 99 yard TD but did anyone see Jerome Simpson's front flip over a Cardinal defender and sticking the landing in the end zone? Amazing.

And the Raider play-off hopes are still alive! Man, next week's going to one of the most exciting ways to take in the New Year... Broncos have got the Chiefs at home, but if they play like they played against the Bills then we might have a chance to snatch top-spot outright, which would be fantastic and give us a bit more leverage with a home wild-card play-off match.

Gah, I love the NFL. biggrin.gif

Even though my Hawks lost and were eliminated from the playoff race i'm officially sold that we're one more Pass rushing DE and a bit of depth away from having an elite defense. With TJack playing great football i think the hawks skip drafting a QB (Barkely is staying in school any ways) and they take a pass rush specialist. Getting Chris Clemons some help would be awesome. Raheem Brock is on the last year of his contract and he hasnt been able to generate nearly as much pressure as he did last year.

Over the past two drafts the Hawks have nailed both. Espescially this last one. KJ Wright is playing crazy good for a 5th round rookie LBer and getting Doug Baldwin via free agency after he went undrafted was a damn great steal. Richard Sherman was a fantastic pick as well. He's been blanketing WRs great as a rookie CB. Trufant wont be back and either Sherman or Brandon Browner will replace him and play on the opposite side of the field as Walter Thurmond.

Red Bryant is officially the best over 300 pound DE in the league.

Wow I won by 2 points! All I know is is that I am playing Victor Cruz instead of Mike Tolbert.

I barely won but I am in the championship. I am going to work my ass off to be as good as possible. I want to win.

Damn doom .5 points! That's scary we are both within range of stat corrections, let's both hope their are no negative changes to our players or positive to our opponents.

It's saying I won by .50 points, but I don't think the calculations are correct. It's a shame I never got a chance to adjust my f*cking roster.

That guy behind you looks like "He who is a c*nt bag" AKA Brett Favre. So what is itnlike being at a game?

I think I might be starting Ryan Fitzpatrick, Matt Ryan may not play hard and he may sit. Ryan is also playing the Patriots which means he might be playing back-ups and their defense is already bad.

But which Giant team will show up Sunday night? The one that lost to Seattle & Washington, or the one that beat Dallas weeks ago?

I'd rather say Dallas beat themselves, Giants were givin' that game on a golden platter. I have friends tell me they need to try out McGee regardless of Romo's injury. I tell them to f*ck off. I've dealt with this "let the backup start", way before Romo was even a Cowboy. It is very concerning seeing Romo hurt, I honestly don't have much confidence in my Cowboys this weekend. Giants have been gaining momentum since they won against Cowboys.

Kitna should be the starter. cool.gif

(srsly, he should at least be the second stringer. He played better than Romo did in 2010, even though that's not saying much.)

I'm tired of people hating on Romo just because it's the trendy thing to do. Romo is a very good starting QB in this league. Since Oct 30th Romo has a 19:2 TD:INT ratio, and around 70% completion. That is amazing. You'd have trouble finding three guys whose stats are better over that span.

People like to talk about Romo's December record as a starter (3-4), but if you see the numbers he averages over 300 yards per game, 67% completion, and has something like a 20:3 TD:INT ratio career in December. That is also a ridiculous stat. But people see the 3-4 and assume Romo did something to lose the game. It has reached a point where it's just senseless Romo bashing. Not saying you are doing that, Senex, but I'm tired of other people doing it. I am very critical when people make mistakes, but they have to earn the criticism.

Two of the Cowboys' losses in the past month have come on failed special teams in the final seconds, and horrible defense. Both the Cardinals' game and Giants' games showed Romo putting our team in a position to win, and the rest of the guys failing to hold up their end. Romo does everything one man can do and his team lets him down. If you wanna bag on Romo then give me some reasons why. Everything on paper and on the field is stacked in his favor. Can't blame the guy for being on a team that lacks clutchness and discipline.

I'm going to be honest- my hatred of Romo stems mostly from my hatred of the Cowboys, similar to my severe hatred of Brady and the Patriots. There's not much more to it then that, really. I can't say I've ever been very compelled to make an actual analytical case for or against him like I have with Tebow or Dilfer or the aforementioned Jon Kitna- even in 2007 with the 13-3 record (but that's mostly because I was busy foaming at the mouth due to the Pats).

On another subject, how the f*ck did Eli Manning earn a spot in the Pro Bowl but Stafford didn't? Stafford broke the Lions' single-season records for TD passes and passing yards and led the perennial underdogs to the playoffs. How's shattering fifty years of Layne-tainted bad football not better than Favre Lite? I'd rather see Tebow shock the world by making the starting AFC position and simultaneously have Stafford in the NFC's third than no Stafford at all. Events like this are why I almost quit watching football altogether.

It's the pro-bowl dude, the fact that fans can vote an infinite number of times pretty much nullifies the game.

Look at Eli he is part of the NY Giants a big market team, not only that pro bowl invites beget more invites.

Look at Brian Cushing's stats compared to Ray Lewis. Brian Cushing: 110 Tackles, 4 sacks, 2 FF, and 2 interceptions.

Ray Lewis: 88, 2.0, 2, 1.

The average NFL fan is stupid (and listens to ESPN) and only sees names. They don't look at stats.

They really need to figure out a way to make the pro-bowl better. Fans can only vote twice, some type of skills test kind of like basketball. Football distance throwing, football speed throwing, something like that.

I'm still of Lombardi's opinion on post-season NFL bowls, always have been: "The Sh*t Bowl. A loser's game for losers. [...] A rinky-dink game in a rinky-dink town between two rinky-dink teams."

Honolulu does suck, the rest of Hawaii is ten times better.
