It's hard for me to feel comfortable with Alex Smith as my starting QB, if I am a 49ers fan (which I'm not). The guy has not shown anything in his six seasons that would indicate he's a guy you can rely on to win games. I know he is mostly used as a game manager type, but part of me is waiting for the wheels to fall off. You guys have a solid defense though, and that helps a lot. If Gore stays healthy San Fran could go places.

Eh, at this point, why fix it if it ain't broke. Smith is clearly having his best year to date, and we don't really have the depth to start anyone else anyway. Maybe in another year or two rookie Colin Kaepernick will be ready to take over, but for now #11 really is our best shot. Last time we went out on the market for someone, we ended up with Troy Smith. Not that he was terrible (from what I recall), but he wasn't exactly spectacular either. I think this year we're far better off sticking with the player we now, especially since Harbaugh is building the offense around what Alex actually does well.

It's amazing what scheme and coaching can do.

Last year the the Texans defense was sh*ttastic sh*t with a side of sh*t salad. Yes, I used sh*t a lot, but that's how terribly bad it was. Now in one off-season, without a proper training camp and losing your best defensive player Wade Phillips has turned this defense into top 10.

You know why, because unlike Frank "Frankly I think ketchup is a little to risky" Bush he schemes around his players. Apparently our secondary coach was telling the secondary to just go out and play. Didn't really have a scheme, that's just terrible.

Sorry, last year did a lot of things to me as a fan. If you ever have the misfortune of seeing a season and a defense like that, just hold on to something tight, so you don't bash your face in.

f*cking Eagles suck. I can't believe how horribly this season has been.

Andy Reid, pack your bags.

Desean Jackson, pack your bags.

Asante Samuels, pack your bags.

It's a shame watching a guy get you to the playoffs every year just get kicked off the team. Andy Reid is one of the better coaches, and he has one of the worst seasons since he drafts McNabb and people jump on the 'lets fire Reid bandwagon'. DeSean Jackson is one of your best offensive weapons, has a sh*tty attitude, but no doubting the guy has talent.

I think Alex Smith of a 10x better Rex Grossman. Has a awesome defense and just enough weapons around him to win games. This is what people predicted the Niners to do last year, but like someone said, with just right coaching it is amazing what can happen.

Stupid Cowboys and their stupid overrated asses. My local station isn't playing the Texans because the Cowboys are more important.

So I'm either going to have to go to some kind of sports bar, invite myself over to my dad's friends house, or watch a internet stream.

It makes sense. Outside the city limits of Houston, the Texans have little to zero following. The Cowboys, however, have a national following. It doesn't matter if they're good or bad- the fact is they're one of the most popular teams in American sports and they take precedent over an unproven team out of Houston that draws no attention outside of its city. Sucks, but that's the way it works in all sports.

Where do you live? I'm in Houston.

It's another Sunday of great matchups and crucial division games - Giants/49ers, Jets/Patriots, Bills/Cowboys, Saints/Falcons, Texans/Bucs, Steelers/Bengals, Lions/Bears and Vikings/Packers on Monday night. No one's talking about the Bears, but they are having a solid season. That's going to be a nasty game against the young Lions. Can Pittsburgh rebound after a brutal loss to Baltimore? Bengals are tough on defense and they have playmakers at WR.

Now Mario Manningham is hurt - damn, it never ends for the Giants.

That's probably because they've played only one "half-good" opponent, the Falcons. The rest have either been brutally tough (Lions, Packers, Saints) or extremely easy (Panthers, Vikings, Bucs, Panthers). The San Diego game should be the one that determines how far the Bears actually can go this year. I for one am highly skeptical of their defense, and if Forte goes down, there's 3/4 of their entire offense.

Regardless, the Bears will lose tomorrow. Their defense is undeniably slipping, they have an awful O-line, and like I said, rely solely on Forte and Bennett.

EDIT: I'm eating my words as the Lions' infamous 6-2 collapse begins; 1999 and 2007 Lions, welcome back! What the hell, Stafford, what the hell...

Because you're a Loser? tounge.gif

Convincing win by the Texans. It's funny when seeing other runningbacks "good" games with stats like 81 yards rushing and 16 yards receiving. Then Arian foster shows up with 84 yards rushing and 102 receiving. He's far and above pretty much anybody else. Of course it helps when you have another back go for 63 and pretty much the best offensive line in the league. We're 7-3, rolling and getting Johnson back after the bye. Oh, and we're also the #1 seed in the AFC.

Finally the stupid comments I made years back are coming to fruition.

Yeah I am wondering why and I'm not even in your league. Andre should not be dropped unless he has a season ending injury. As soon as he comes back he's a top tier WR1 dude it's f*cking ANDRE JOHNSON. It doesn't matter how much they're running the ball right now. Andre will get 90% of the targets no matter what.

By the time he comes back it'll be the playoffs in the NFL anyways, always something new with him, so why waste a spot on the team? Even though i'll be 2-8 tounge.gif

You could play spoiler and keep him off someone else's team. Either way, having Andre (who will be back week 12) for the last two weeks is really valuable, and even moreso if you go to the playoffs.

Doubt I'll make it and with Matt Shaub out for the year, I'm sure that won't affect it either. smile.gif

XBoxless, you consider the Texans super-bowl run over with Schaub out for the season?

God, watching Aaron Rodgers is a treat. The throws he can make are mind-boggling, more so when he throws while running.

Proud of my Hawks win over the Ravens. Great game by Lynch and TJack. Defense played good too. Every game i'm convinced even more that Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor are the young versions of Troy Polamalu and Ed Reed.

More like playoff run, not sure if Leinart can come in and win at least 3 games.

Either the Bears are the real deal or the Lions are not as good as everyone thought. What an embarrassing loss for Detroit on Sunday.

I can't believe Michael Vick was playing after suffering two broken ribs on his second play of the game. I may not like him, but damn he is tough.

He played with a punctured lung? That's incredible. I've had the misfortune of experiencing a punctured lung before and it is f*cking excruciating. Kudos to him

the packers are absolutely dominating this year. aaron rodgers is a machine and has a bunch of great receivers to throw to. their team overall is just nasty. clay matthews, aj hawk, charles woodson.. i could go on and on but i'll stop.

i f*cking hate the rule changes they've made. kickoffs are way less interesting now since half of them aren't even returned.. and if there's a 10 yard penalty forget about it, that ball is going into the stands. i feel like it takes energy out of the game. with all the fines the NFL has handed out for hits this year they should start a charity for the NBA lockout. i understand it's about player safety but a lot of the hits they fine for are unavoidable... like a guy would be aiming to hit their chest, the target would lower their head to cushion themselves for the hit and get hit in the helmet. this happens all the time and they still get fined for it. i miss how football used to be.

...before '94, the kickoffs were the same as now and there was no two-point conversion. The rules were changed in 2004 to make the league a passing league: the refs must "strictly enforce" rules concerning defenders and eligible receivers. (I think the concerns on head injuries are knee-jerk at best and the rules about celebration are bullsh*t, personally.)

You want to talk about "boring" football, the way it used to be? Watch games from the early 70's without Staubach, without the 49ers' Shotgun, and before Fouts came around. Strong defenses? Power running not done by Jim Brown? Fran Tarkenton throwing it into the flat to Foreman? Wow, so f*cking exciting! At least the Notre Dame Box and Wing-T featured shifts. The hash mark placement rules of 1972, West Coast Offense, Air Coryell, (subsequent) Run and Shoot, and 46 Defense (killed the over-reliance on play-action passing) are the only reasons football didn't become unwatchable.

f*ck this sh*t.

We can still make it to the playoffs. I mean when Matt schaub is throwing 15 times a game then I am sure matt leinRt can do it.

Super Bowl…no. It's possible but like a 2%chance.

Seriously this is bullsh*t, right when we f*cking get our sh*t together without Mario, without Andre we f*cking lose Matt Schaub. I swear their is some kind of curse on us.

f*ck!

Consolation prize: I'm kicking ass in fantasy football.

That is right, I completely forgot which team beat the 49ers. They were a few plays away from being undefeated as well, since that game went into overtime.

I didn't catch the end of the game, but early 4th quarter Tebow had 3.5 points for my fantasy team and he finished with 16 for the night. I don't know what happened, but he suddenly got 60 more rush yards and TD after I left the house. I need to check Sportscenter man.

Say what you want about Tebow. He's a terrible pocket passer and needs a LOT of work as a QB in general, but the guy truly knows how to win. It's amazing really.

You must check Sportscenter or some how watch the highlights of the game. It's your average sh*tty 4 quarters of Tebow until the last couple minutes or so.

Here's a video of the game winning drive: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlig...e-winning-drive

Vintage Tebow. Ugly, but the chains keep moving and it ends with him scoring the game winner with his legs. Exactly what they drafted him to do. After he scores he kneels in the end zone and you can see his teammates surround him. They believe in him and they play their asses off for him. That team belongs to Tebow now, no question.

He. Just. Wins. Games.

You have no idea how many times I heard that from VY/Titans fans....

ANDRE JOHNSON:(on what he says to people saying it’s the same old Texans when another key player goes down) “Well if they’ve been watching football, I don’t think they would say it’s the same old Texans. I went down. Mario (Williams) went down. Danieal Manning went down and right now we’re sitting at the top of the AFC. If they feel that way, they were bandwagoners anyway, so that’s the way I feel about it.”

Andre seems pissed. He's ready to go, he's going to explode.

Too bad he's going to explode with Matt Leinart instead of Matt Schaub. He'll be lucky to have the ball thrown anywhere near him to be caught.
