gtanoob22
Hi, is there any way to create realistic building shadows into GTA: SA? If so how? Because I found this guy on youtube who made it but he didn't say how. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6fT7Z9KTSU...nel_video_title Can someone tell me or know a mod that does this? Frank.s
It says ENB in the video description...
gtanoob22
But ENB only deepens the existing shadows. If you go near a pole you can see the faint shadow outline, but that's not the case with buildings. I'm looking for a mod/tutorial that can create real shadow outlines for buildings so that the game can look good with ENB.

gtanoob22
Google "rapcentr real night mod" Its the first link. And yes I did spell his name right Thanks, but not exactly what I was looking for. I tried the mod and it only darkened shadows that were already in the game, not create actual shadows for buildings and walls, and other objects. The guy in the vid had dark shadow outlines for buildings, but this mod doesn't do that.

It won't render building shadows. What's the file that renders shadows for poles and trees and some other stuff? Maybe I can learn to edit that, so that I can get the desired result? Is it effect.txt?

DSMTuner
I spent a lot of time translating and searching, but nothing has come up. Maybe your luck will change and someone will find it.
DexX
Ah ,that guy made more shadows for trees and buildings and deppend them You know how? ENB modifies the shadows cast by objects, but does not change which objects actually cast a shadow. If you want objects that don't cast a shadow yet, to cast a shadow, you need to add a shadow mesh to the collision file for that object.

fireguy109
Can't you add shadow meshes in CollEditor 2, or is that just to make the game not crash?
gtanoob22
Can't you add shadow meshes in CollEditor 2, or is that just to make the game not crash? Are you asking me or Dexx? Frank.s
Can't you add shadow meshes in CollEditor 2, or is that just to make the game not crash? CollEditor2 can do shadow meshes however shadow meshes are an optional extra, not %100 of SA's objects have them (afaik). Which files in which directory deals with shadow meshes for objects? The shadow mesh for an object is stored inside its collision model, the collisions for objects are stored in the .col files inside the gta3.img

I've extracted all the .col files I could find using IMGTool. Unfortunately I have no idea how to use CollEditor 2. If you know how to use it, can you give me a brief guide on how to add shadow meshes to certain objects? I know that some objects have vertices and faces set to 0 for their shadow mesh and some (that create shadows in game) have values, but I don't know how to add them in. Also, you need to position the shadow if you want to edit it right?
Frank.s
I don't know how to make a shadow mesh using only colleditor, the single method i know is to model a new one and export it to the collision using 3dsmax. I cant tutor you on using 3dsmax 'cos that would take too long. CollEditor2 might simply have a button/setting to copy the col mesh into a shad mesh however i haven't tried to find it. fireguy109
right click object, "shadow mesh"', "get from collision" to make one don't need a new model, works with existing.

But what if collision mesh doesn't have values? Do I then need to model it with a software such as 3Dsmax?

I did what you said and added shadow meshes to every object except hills, roads, and interiors. The shadows "follow" me.
coin-god
Maybe the game wasn't meant to render shadows for all objects. So, it cant really handle it.
