An event by Project Mayhem.

Introduction:

Welcome to the Twofer event thread. This event will comprise of two very thorough games. Both have been tried and tested and proven popular and will hopefully flourish much like other popular games of the past such as Air/Ground War and 16 V LCPD. Game #1 is Fight Club. Players will battle each other in a tournament environment or in friendly games in a plethora of arenas and game types. Game #2 is Fugitive. A prison break game which requires you to outwit your opponent in order to achieve victory. Additionally, after a break is achieved the hunt is on. Convicts must ensure their survival and freedom by any means necessary and prison guards must ensure they capture their escaped convicts by lethal force if they have to. These games have been well thought out and meticulously constructed. This will remain a strictly 360 affair for the foreseeable future due to organization. Once things are running smoothly, we'll hopefully incorporate you PS3ers into the event. In the meantime, I apologise. We hope you enjoy your stay here in this thread and enjoy the ideas within and we hope to see you in Liberty City sometime soon.

Points System:

Points will be awarded for certain accomplishments, i.e. winning a game. Points will be added to a participants overall score and will be used in both Fight Club & Fugitive. For example, if a participant wins points in Fight Club and wishes to spend points in a Fugitive game, they can. More information on the points will be revealed as you progress through this thread.

Dates & Times:

To be decided subsequently. In addition to your application forms, could all participants please let us know which days would be best for them to attend. Would Saturdays been an ideal day to host the event?

Application Form:

If you wish to join the event, fill out this simple form listing your username and Gamertag.

A game by Fawckue.

Credit to .2D & LeRay0409 for the inception idea(s) of points and awards.

Disclaimer:

Not to be confused with the film, nor compared to it. The event was not inspired by the film. The concept was not stolen from Fight Club, nor were any of the ideas. Any naysayers please read this and promptly vacate the thread if your intentions are to bring negativity towards the event. Thank you.

I've steered away from the more "creative" games to put less of a strain on organization. It usually takes long enough to get players gathered around in a circle. I weep at the thought of attempting to organize fights on top of a precarious structure. I hope folk respect my decision, and enjoy the event regardless. There's an abundance of (what I perceive to be) great event ideas to keep us busy so let's have at it.

Introduction:

Welcome to Fight Club. This tournament is the ultimate test of mettle. Hand-to-hand combat, mano-a-mano as nature intended it. The objective is simple. Engage your opponent, look him square in the eyes, show no fear and take him down. Charity is a virtue that has no place here in Fight Club. The man stood on the other side of the arena staring back at you will grant you no such courtesy. It's dog eat dog, survival of the fittest, and the mongrel with the biggest bite will win the bone.

Rules:

There will be 8 fighters to a tournament, 7 rounds, 1 champion. There will be the initial qualifiers, the semi-finals and the final fight. A fighter will advance to the next round on a knockout system basis. Each round will last until one fighter knocks their opponent out. In the eventuality of a rare draw, fighters will dust themselves off, jump back into the arena and fight again until there's a victor. Two men go in, one man walks out. That's the rule. The fighter that advances all the way to the final and wins will receive 50 points (and any additional points should an award be earned) and also receive the prestigious title of Fight Club Champion!

For optimum success, this will remain an organized event. The typical tomfoolery will be allowed and encouraged, but blatant disruption of the game will not be tolerated and such actions will result in a warning, and if it should continue, the offending player will be dealt with a nice, little kick from the game. These games are here to be enjoyed by everybody, not taken advantage of. Please remember that.

Tournaments:

The Bare Knuckle Tournament - An 8 man tournament, where victors advance on a knockout system basis. Rounds will be fought bare-fisted in either Back Alley Brawls, Home Improvements matches or Street Fights.

Extreme Rulez Tournament - Same as the Bare Knuckle Tournament. Only the Extreme Rulez Tournament will allow the use of melee weapons so vigilence is a necessity in this tournament.

The Redemption Royale - After the tournament is won and a champion has been decided, a Redemption Battle Royale will be held for the losers of the tournament. No prize will be awarded to the victor besides regained pride and self-worth. This is simply just a dicking around session after the initial tournament is complete and shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Throwing Down The Gauntlet

If a disgruntled fighter feels he was cheated out of a victory, he may put forth the challenge for a rematch or a title challenge to the current Fight Club champion. If the current champion accepts the challenge, the two will arrange a fight (Bare Fisted or an Extreme Rulez fight - see Game Modes for more details). This does not need authorization from the host or even need to be witnessed by the host, although that would be preferred for "refereeing" purposes. If the challenger beats the current champion, he'll win the title, but if the current title holder wins, however, he'll keep his title, win bragging rights and 50 points will be awarded for a successful title defence.

These matches can be bet on (see Betting System for more details).

Tournament Results:

Game Modes:

Hosted:

Timed Event - The event will run for 60 minutes. In that time we'll play an abundance of mini-games. Such as Circle of Doom, King of the Castle and Bar Brawls.

Tournament Rules - In a Tournament game, the Tournament will go underway and will be ran reasonably strictly to ensure the event runs smoothly.

Bare Knuckle:

Back Alley Brawl - Straight up mano-a-mano. Fighters will fight using nothing but the tools God gave them. Fought in an enclosed venue. Back alleys, parking lots, top of project buildings etc...

Home Improvements - A one on one fight fought in an interior. Apartment building, housing building, etc.

King of the Castle - The Kingdom of Busstoponia is highly sought after by the kings of Liberty City. They all strive for control of this great land, but an unwritten code of ettiquete has thusfar prevented them for acting on their impluses. Now, however, tensions have reached boiling point and it's time for the warriors of Liberty City to arm up and fight tooth and nail to conquer this great land for their king. Basically, sieze control of the bus stop, any bus stop in Liberty City, last man stood on top of the bus stop after 60 seconds is the victor.

Street Fight - A Street Fight is sloppy and it's vicious. Fighters will sprawl out onto the street in clear view for anybody to see, disregarding anybody or anything in their path to obtain victory.

Battle Royale:

Arena - Fought in an Arena (any location of the participants choosing). In the Battle Royale it's every man for himself. Last man standing wins.

Bar Brawl - Same rules apply for the Bar Brawl. A bar will be chosen as the fight venue and last man standing wins the fight.

Team Bar Brawl - Two rival boozer gangs have arranged a bar brawl. Players will form two teams (The Steinway Bruisers, Da Babylon Crew or Winkles Winkles) and choose a location (Steinway Beer Garden in Dukes, Homebrew Café in Broker or Lucky Winkles in Algonquin). The gang that frequents the chosen bar will wait inside, whilst the rival gang makes their way to the brawl. The rival gang will storm the bar taking the regulars off guard and ding ding ding. Last boozer(s) standing win the brawl for their team.

Extreme Rulez:

Bats and Shanks - Does exactly what it says on the tin. A regular Back Alley Brawl with bats and shanks.

Circle of Doom - A heart-pounding test of wit & bravery. Players will form a circle around two fighters whilst holding AK's and/or M4's. Training the guns on the fighters, the fighters will prepare to brawl, whilst the onlookers will count to 30. If the fight is still going when they reach 30... hasta la vista, baby.

Grudge Match - If two individuals are locked in an epic never ending battle, a Grudge Match is the perfect avenue to determine a true victor. No holds barred. Best two out of three. Lay down the challenge in the thread and your wish shall be granted.

No Mans Land - Fought on a platform ranging from small to medium sized. Once a fighter steps onto the platform, that platform becomes their entire world. They make one wrong move, it's into no mans land they go. Lost fighters will be subjected to unimaginable attrocities at the hands of the feral and vicious Nomanlandians. Watch your footing! wink.gif

A game by .2D & Fawckue.

Backstory:

Two cellmates doing hard time together often sit in their cell at night reminiscing about freedom and the outside world. They ponder how much the world has changed during their time in a correctional facility and wonder if life for their family and friends has stood still on the outside as much as it has for them on the inside. They keep up to date with current affairs via the news at 6, newspapers or word of mouth, but neither man is truly satisfied with the life they're living. Both men accept the crimes they've committed and respect the sentences dished out to them. Only they feel they've served an adequate amount of their 25 to life sentences to compensate for the severity of their crimes. In their eyes justice was swift, justice was served and they're ready to move on.

They yearn for freedom, they yearn to wake up in the morning with a smile on their face, they yearn to feel a womans touch, they yearn to pick their kids up from school, they yearn to sit and watch the game with an icy cold beer in hand on a cool breezy summer's afternoon - they yearn for freedom - and by hook or by crook, they're going to get it. Only thing standing in their way is an abundance of security gates and prison guards - no mean feat for the man carrying the spirit of freedom in his heart and a ruthless determination with nothing to lose. The decision of when or how will be determined based on the current circumstances and the relationship of the two convicts. Will they pull together their resources and know how and band together for the escape of the century, will they bribe one of the guards to set the wheels in motion or will they part ways and go rogue on a wing and a prayer?

The decision... is up to you.

Objective:

The objective is simple: guards guard, convicts attempt to escape from the Alderney State Correctional Facility either by calling up and bribing a guard, overpowering a guard and taking his weapon or simply running for the front gate on a wing and a prayer. Once out of the prison, the objective is to then make it to the objective in one piece. The objective being the helicopter pad on top of the Booth Tunnel. Convicts must then pilot their way to The Triangle Club in Bohan. Once inside, they've secured their freedom and the game is won. The guards objective is to stop the convicts from escaping, either by lethal force or capturing and escorting them back to prison. There's a multitude of methods that can be utilized to secure your freedom. Teamwork, bribery, betrayal! The guards could even get wind of the escape and in the interest of the general public, lure the convicts into a false sense of security and resort to vigilantism. Who can you trust?

Rules:

This is essentially a roleplaying game. All players have one life. Two convicts to however many guards are in game, alternating between players each game.

Convicts are allowed one knife between them. Convicts are confined to the basketball court, church and the surrounding area within the confines of the fencing. Guards will equip themselves with pistols while one guard will arm themself with some heavy weaponry (shotgun/AK/M4). Guards must patrol the catwalks and remain vigilant, watching for any suspicious behaviour from the convicts. If a guard suspects anything's going down, he's permitted to fire a warning shot in the direction of the convicts. Once a shot is fired, convicts must halt all activity and crouch on the spot until the guard returns to his duties. If a convict is seen outside of their allocated area (outside of the fencing, on the catwalks or outer walls) assume an escape is imminent and don't forget your training. You may open fire or give the convict the benefit of the doubt and escort them back to the courtyard. If a disgruntled guard decides to aid a convict in their escape, the guard becomes as much of a target as the convict. The guard should be dealt with accordingly and approached with caution.

Convicts MUST escape through the front gate. Wall hopping will not be tolerated. Guards must also stay on the move. Camping will not be tolerated. Once a convict has escaped and is on the run, they are given the option to "give up". If there's no foreseeable possibility of escape, if you're able to drop what you're doing and crouch in the spot to "yield" before you get your gray matter splattered all over the place, guards are given the option to stop shooting and return the convict to the facility. Captured convicts will be taken to the middle watch tower in the prison courtyard and put on constant surveillance (at gunpoint) by the guard that caught him until information is extracted regarding the wearabouts/destination of convict #2 or #2 is also caught or killed. The convict is then returned to the courtyard and put on heavy surveillance.

Once both convicts have escaped and made it to their destination (or one convict if the other has perished) the game is won. If both convicts are killed or if the timer runs out, victory goes to the guards.

Points System:

Convicts will be permitted such privileges such as ringing/bribing guards & the use of a handgun for help based on their points. For example: no points, no leway. Each time a guard is called for help, points will be sacrificed for their help. There is the ever-present prospect of a convict being double-crossed by a guard, but that's a risk they'll just have to take, so choose your guard carefully. If convicts have extra points, however, they could bribe the guards with points for added incentive. This rule limits the amount of games guards are called and will force the convicts to devise another escape plan instead of taking the "easy route". Convicts are limited to the use of one handgun and two bribes per gaming session, so, again, choose your privileges wisely.

Guards are also allowed to spend points on privileges. If a convict is caught, a guard may spend points on extracting information about their cohort (their wearabouts/destination). This will be an unlimited perk where the convicts decision is their prerogative, not the guards. Guards may also spend points on privileges such as two rifleman/shotgun guys for added security. Guards are permitted one of these privileges every other game.

All players in-game will start off with 100 points. Whether a player on an oppossing team chooses to accept an offer/double-cross them is their prerogative. Points are negotiable. Points will be deducted based purely on trust and honesty in the lobby. I'd like to think nobody's gutless enough to cheat. Once a player has spent their points, they always have a chance to re-earn them once the teams are switched over and they're on the other side of the law.

Convicts will win 50 points a piece for a successful escape. Guards will win 20 a piece for a successful capture.

Privileges:

Convicts:

Bribe guard for second knife - 50 points

Bribe guard for gun - 70 points

Bribe guard for personal help - 100 points

Guards:

Bribe Convict for information - 50 points

Added security - 100 points

Players may combine points for privileges. Points are negotiable in-game.

Settings:

Location: Prison

Duration: 60 minutes (Allows players extra time should they need it)

Friendly Fire: On

Weapons: Standard

Traffic/Pedestrians: Medium (Not too excessive, but helps players blend in)

Blips: Team

GT/Reticule: Off

Voice chat: Team

Time of Day: Midnight

Weather: Negotiable in lobby

Player Models:

This is mostly for authenticity purposes, but it does help distinguish players from opposing teams. It is a hassle changing outfits everytime you switch teams but it would be appreciated if players would memorize and wear the applicable outfit(s) during these games.

Convict Attire (Male):

Head - Any.

Torso & Legs - 2.

Glasses & Hats - none.

Guard Attire (Male):

Head - Any.

Torso & Legs - 6.

Glasses - 4.

Hats - 14.

Final Words:

These games are here for everybody's enjoyment. So respect the game, respect your fellow gamers and have fun.

It'll be possible. Just f*cking hard to get. It's the Auf Weidersehen Petrovic of Fight Club monocle.gif

Besides, you don't have to go for it. You can just focus on the fight. But it's there for anybody that fancies that extra little challenge. And you were complaining about nitpicking earlier... for shame! sneaky2.gif

Oh, it'll be possible. Usually during fist fights on GTA, people will try and keep their distance and get a few hits in as quick as they can, and taking a few in return as usual. But if you're actually going for it, it will be obtainable, the fight will obviously last a lot longer. The way I'd do it is just keep my distance as much as a I can, and only go in for one or two punches occasionally. I can see the best mode for this being street fight. You have a lot of room to move, keep the distance and run in for a couple of punches then make off. It's possible, just pretty f*cking hard.

Yeah, I don't see a problem with that. You're signing up for the event, but it's your prerogative which game(s) you attend. You don't have to sign up for both. Just imagine the two games are divided into two seperate events in one thread, as opposed to two games bundled into one event.

Though, the only downside to only attending Fight Club is it'd kinda render your points obsolete in terms of spending. If you're merely only after points for bragging rights (which I assume IS more your thing), however, then Fight Club is right up your alley.
