Well...that would be Take 2 who would be in charge of releasing the information to the general public. But like I said, either company can announce it. Remember back in 06 neither company announce GTA. Peter Moore surprised the gaming community with that GTAIV tattoo on his arm. Who knows how they will do it this time around, they love to surprise us all the time. It's what makes it spectacular and builds extreme hype, as we wait for the actual release date. smile.gif

Can a Mod please be kind enough to remove that page stretcher. It's making it hard to type in this thread.

Thanks.

Well it's probably going to be announced at this year's E3...

he probably has a sh*tty 1024x768 notebook-screen, like i do.

btt: The new domains got my hopes up a bit. If they do not announce it at E3 this year, everyones gonna have to wait for a max payne 3 event, and if they dont announce it there either, everyones gonna wait for E3 '12. This could become an endless circle of waiting, omg : suicidal.gif

Don't expect an announcement before E3 atleast, but also don't get your hopes down. I personally think they can not be silent until 2012, that would screw up the popularity of the GTA series.

I know there's not a GTA every year like the COD series, but, they are not so stupid to take it to the point that everyone looses interest.

If you don't agree with me tell me, because most of the times i only say rubbish.

^ THIS:

@pctechguy again... T2 own R* yea, but correct me if i am wrong, but it's down to Rockstar themselves to announce GTA isn't it?

Who announced IV, was it R* or T2?

T2 are the publishers, R* the developers... who is it that makes the announcements?

:\

Rockstar NYC are the publishers, Rockstar North are the devs. Take2 just owns the umbrella that Rockstar and 2K falls under. Both Rockstar and 2K Games may be at the Take2 booth, and they just want to share a space to save money or something.

However, it isn't up to either of them really, just look at GTA IV, it was announced by Microsoft.

Microsoft announced it!?

Interesting.

Good point about saving space. - it'd also be a good way to "hide" rockstar being there.

The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.

Patcher knows as much as any of us do. He does not work for Rockstar, Take2, or anyone that might have true inside info. He makes guesses based on the info, or lack there of, that has been released.

microsoft announced it because they had the 360 exclusive DLC deal with R*. I dont think that MS will announce it again, unless they have a similar deal again.

I'm sure Microsoft paid quite a bit to announce GTA IV at their conference. Then a lot more for the exclusive DLC.

Microsoft will probably try to get similar deals again whenever the next GTA is announced. Theyare going for the most popular Series (Like timed exclusive DLC with CoD).

Why yes. I'm actually on an old a*s IBM ThinkPad WinXp Notebook - company property. Screen resolution is maxed out at 1152X864 anything higher will cripple the bitch with a no signal.

Anyways, I willing to bet this shi*ty notebook that someone will announce GTA at E3.

Microsoft paid $50 Million for both GTA IV DLCs, and they made a lot more profit with them, so it was a great move from Microsoft. monocle.gif

Is that the truth?

I mean DLCs sold pretty poorly compared to original GTA IV. I'm not trying to piss on your parade, but I'm just wondering if Microsoft really made any real profit.

you cant really say how much profit MS made, because you dont know how many people bought an xbox because of the exclusive stuff.

I was just thinking about these domains and the rush cast then I remembered that last year (or maybe 2009) there was a leak from a musician working for rockstar who had just been asked to do the music for Bully 2 (either that or something along those lines). Now we all agreed that it wasn't going to be for Agent or L.A. Noire because of the internet not being invented then but I don't think anyone ever suggested that they could be for the next Bully game. I'm thinking more about the domains than the cast because the cast seems very GTA like. If Bully 2 is set in present day, which is very likely, could these 'leaks' be linked to that. I'd much prefer it to be for GTA V but it is a possibility.

Microsoft got this $50 million dollars back, plus another $20 million in profit.

why would ms get any of the profit? what kind of deal is that lol.

"we won't let you sell your stuff on the ps3, limiting your sells and the income of the dlc, and in return, you pay us for it!"

It was probably just a good business deal. It had been a good few years between SA and IV so Take Two wanted to ensure maximum sales considering it was the first game on a latest gen console...letting Microsoft announce it and get first dibs on DLC played to the Xbox market which was probably the biggest/most popular console statistically at the time (compared to PS3). R* don't even need to bother doing that this time round because they know it will sell great on any platform.

Actually, the PS3 had not even been released yet when GTA IV was announced at E3 2006, along with the "Xbox 360 exclusive episodes". And the 360 had only been out for six months at the time.

that dont mean nothing its the same damn story, they went to playstation first they probably said no then they went to microsoft, everybody know rockstars loyalty towards playstation. I'm sure you can make deals before a system is out , companies make deals all the time like that

Going by that statement then, R* must have known what consoles their own game would be released on? and with Xbox out first that would have had more market time than PS3. I'm just speculating by the way, I don't mean to say this is true as I haven't dug around for facts or anything.

I think so. I think there was a countdown to every trailer after the 1ST one though.
