Which setting deserves a remake?

Recommended Posts

Well both have a certain vibe and history to them. (as do a # of different cities in the u.s. and the world) So for me it would have to be which 1 I like more and what type of criminal environment would I want to play in more, and at this time I would have to say,(if I had to choose) it doesn't matter cause I like both for different reasons.

On a side note, i'd honestly like to see a new england setting consisting of boston and rhode island with countryside, woods, and farmland in between.

Great Topic.

I believe Los Santos HAS to be the next location, simple as it's the city with the most relevance & with the fact that Mexican gangs have taken over LA & with Mexico in the grip of a full scale drugs war. It would be a great story & location for V with a Mexican American as a protagonist.

There are loads of issues that face LA like Gay Marriage, press 2 for Spanish, Environment & Arnold Schwarzenegger, which would be fantastically satirized as we expect from the Guys & Girls at Rockstar.

I had different reason for wanting San Andreas, but a Satirically character of Arnie would be hilarious.

both VC and SA were perfect for and in their time, nowadays I wanna step forward, which doesn't mean I can't see a GTA set in the past, but a remake isn't necessary.

VC and SA covered the time and theme already good.

I would love to hear your ideas.

I'd love them to re-make the whole of Sanandreas, I think he would look and feel amazing. Imagine GTAIV's graphics, gamplay and car handling driving around Los Santos with all the street gangs, then up to Vinewood, the huge forests' and mountains, then you have San Ferero, the huge desert with the little towns and then Las Venturas. I think it would be beautiful, and they could do so much with like they could make the forests even more spooky and creepy than they already where in SA, and have the main character meet some creepy people out their (like Niko and Eddie Low).

I would love that too, but can the Xbox handle it?

I'd really like to see a modern-day remake of Vice City, but with a different kind of protagonist, like a Cuban or Colombian caught up in the drug game.

The first Vice City game pretty much got the whole 1980s Miami vibe and atmosphere correct and spot-on, and I totally applaud Rockstar for that. VC is still currently my favourite GTA game of them all. Some people might say, "VC has already been done, done so well that Rockstar should leave it alone on a high note". But the thing is, the previous VC games are set in the 1980s, which right now feels like a long time ago. Miami has changed a lot since then in almost everyway possible, and these days it is a much bigger city than it ever was before. Modern-day Miami just offers tons of material, foundation for ideas and the potential for the possibility a great new VC game being made. Rockstar could even include the whole state of Florida and include other cities and towns, farmland, countryside, swamps, marshes, forests, coastlines and islands like the Flroida Keys, wildlife like alligators etc. There is so much that can be done with a new Vice City/Florida-based GTA.

Then after that a remake of San Andreas.

The thing is, VC (mid-1980s) and SA (early 1990s) were both set in past time periods that have long passed. A modern-day remake of these two places would definitely do them some real justice. In 20 years, so much has changed about Miami and Los Angeles as they stand today, and I really think that their GTA fictional counterparts should reflect this.

Would'nt a revamped version of VC or SA count as new city? they would completly diff in all but name. I count IV's LC as a completly new city.

In any case, I would like to the Idea of the state of SA revisioned, but I think R* should focus on each city as a seperate entry instead, in old SA, los Santos was the only real city that felt like it had good atmosphere and period setting, gangs, rap etc. the other two cities just felt tacked on and just there for the sake of it. San Fierro and Las venturas would have miles more potential if R* focused on just one, give it a suitable time period, characters, cars, music, like 1960's LV and 1970's SF, two periods R* have never done and in two cities that have been completly untapped. thats two gta's there.

Dan Houser said about this "Trilogy" Which was a Fictional New York, A Fictional Miami and a Fictional California.

Think about it:

GTA III (Liberty City)

Vice City

San Andreas

GTA IV (Liberty City)

??? (Vice City) <GTA V

??? (San Andreas)

It's like they started over again...

I very much agree with what you stated about San Andreas. I too felt that out of the 3 cities in SA, Los Santos looked like it was the only one with a genuine vibe and atmosphere, and where all the big things in the game were happening. I can remember playing through San Fierro and Las Venturas and in between, and all I could think about was the first part of the game in Los Santos. Los Santos had it all - gang wars, the different hoods, the nice LA-style vibe etc. I just wanted to quickly finish with the other cities/lpaces and get back to Los Santos to get back invloved in the action and soak up the atmosphere again. I definitely believe that San Fierro and Las Venturas could have had much more potential, even as they way they are in SA.

My reasons are more personal. San Andreas was the first GTA game I played and is what got me hooked onto the series.

People keep saying that GTA IV was GTA I, and that GTA V will be GTA II and that GTA VI will be GTA III.

WHY?

There is no reason to believe they are just remaking the games these days. They probably felt that the Liberty City in GTA III did not do justice to New York. They almost certainly feel like Vice City did justice to Miami. If they do make a new game, set in Vice City or in Los Santos, it will not be to follow a scheme of remakes, I just think Rockstar would have a more inspiring reason to revisit a place they have been to before.

I would personally love a new San Andreas, but perhaps without San Fierro. Cruising around the Las Venturas desert was amazing, doing so with the new graphics would be.. wow

If they expanded the cities like they did to Liberty for GTA IV, I'd love to see both Vice City and San Andreas return. If I had to pick just one, Vice gets my vote with San Fierro in 2nd.

I don't know why, but playing San Andreas, I had more fun on the Fierro missions than any of the cities.
