Console Video Editior

Recommended Posts

I think it would be awesome if GTA V had a video editior similar to the PC's. I've no idea how the PC's works but I don't have a PC capable of gaming and I'd love to make some machinimas etc.

Black Ops did it, why not GTA? I dosen't have to be too complicated, I just want to save my best moments and show my friends. Maybe even have a feature where you can upload it to YouTube like Just Cause 2?

Thoughts?

Defintely should happen. I think R* should re-release IV on consoles with the video editor in it

not likely to happen though

Yeah but they could at least make a DLC, For it call it Movie IV, or something.. Would be good

The thing is, both "modern" consoles don't have enough power save everything done in single player in a clip to edit.(which can be done on PC) With the massive amount of ram a modern PC has, its easy. Consoles have the same amount of ram my 1998 PC has, the Xbox 360 has 512mb of ram, which is even more than the ps3 has, lol.

You may all say, "well we can do it on cod" ... all recorded gameplay in black ops, aswell as halo is all done SERVERSIDE.

A simple editor with direct upload to youtube is definitely possible.

Only if they have monkeys do it, and actually store information about every single object for every single frame. If they do that, it's their own fault, and has nothing to do with limitations of the console.

In reality, you only need to store full info for initial "keyframe". Game's a game, not a real world where nothing happens the same way twice. If you run the engine on same initial conditions with the same random number seed, the only thing that can go differently is different player input. Store player input, feed it to the engine, and it will run exactly the same every single time. And player input is a few kB/second tops. We are talking 1MB of RAM to store several minutes of gameplay.

And, of course, once you have that setup, you don't have to worry about lag on replay, so when you are actually generating video, you can stream directly to hard drive. Problem solved.

You guys are all wanting the video editor, wait till you see how complicated it is. wink.gif

It took me a year to make videos like

Dude, what the f*ck? That's...... really good. icon14.gif

IMO, I think the video editor was made to make up for the late release of IV on PC.

I´ll post some screens for you to see what the editor is like.

It dosent have to be ages. In CoD it records like your past 32 games which is around 320minutes of gameplay.

Maybe just record like 30 seconds. And it dosen't have to be that complicated just a few editing features will suffice for me.

The system inself doesn't do the recording, a server does it. If they wanted to record single player in gta like in cod multiplayer, a internet connection would be needed.

30 second clips could be doable. in past gta's on consoles they had a instant replay feature. although it was only on the more powerful Xbox at the time.
