nixxio
Surely gonna be getting this for my small collection of ps3 games, I've owned/played all the twisted metal games aside from black, and they were all great, well except for 4. Is there actually an estimated release date for the new twisted metal? Raptomex
Sometime this year. I didn't like Black. Well I loved the gameplay just not the whole story or atmosphere. But I did enjoy head-on. Gameplay is similar to Black but a great TM 2 feel. It was too dark. It needs some humor like the others. I loved the first 2 and TM 3. Raptomex
Sorry for the bump but there is news to report and I'd rather add to this than start another topic. Very exciting stuff. Exclusive Broken Trailer released April 8, 2011 on GameTrailers. Also, David Jaffe says more news about game modes and other features to be revealed on the 14th. Estimated release date is October 4, 2011. agent17
Broken Trailer released. I guess this is the full version as opposed to the one released last week. I'm quite impressed with the dude who is playing Calypso. Dat music. I love the Twisted Metal series. I actually liked how dark Twisted Metal Black was, I hope they bring back some of those characters, besides the preacher obviously. Also, this is the best depiction of Calypso to date, simply amazing. Based on this trailer it seems like the game has been overhauled quite a bit, it looks a lot nicer than it did in the 2010 E3 demo. I wasn't sure I wanted the game back in 2010. But seeing this now has made it conclusive. This game is too nostalgic to pass up. Raptomex
I was never a big fan of Black myself but the gameplay was great. And I believe Preacher has returned. There is a few things nagging me about this game even as awesome as it's looking. So far multiplayer is being whored around and stealing the show with all these new announcements. And rightfully so in today's day and age but I still want more information on the single player game. From what I'm seeing there's only four characters announced to play as in single player; Sweet Tooth, Preacher, Mr. Grimm, and Darkside. I was never really a fan of Black's interpretation of Sweet Tooth. I miss his TM2 and Head-On look where he was a painted crazed clown. I just don't like Preacher that much. Mr. Grimm is quite awesome. However, is he that dude riding the bike in these new trailers or is he going to be the Grim Reaper? I loved him as the Grim Reaper and I also loved his TM2 and Head-On look. I liked Darkside when it was Mr. Ash from TM1. He was just badass. I hate Dollface. My next issue. From what I've read so far (at least on GiantBomb), you will only be able to play as the four characters listed above. I don't know if that has been confirmed 100% but that will bother me if it's true. I liked it better when you could choose all the different characters. Also, many other vehicles have been seen in videos but no info on the drivers. All we keep seeing is clowns or any other factions driving around. For example, Axel was revealed the other day and Sweet Tooth was between the wheels. Has the Axel character returned or just the vehicle? If it's only the four characters and their factions that are available to play as that will be a big disappointment for me. And if the new style is having the different characters driving in other character vehicles, I don't know how much I like that either. Next comes challenge/deathmatch mode. When I was a kid I would play in this mode against the AI all the time. I didn't always have someone to play with and I loved just driving around causing mass destruction. This can obviously support split screen play but will we be able to play by ourselves? I hope so. Also, if this mode is included and there are only the four characters, who will we be able to compete against? Just the other three characters and their factions? I hope not. If the single player story only supports the four characters above then I hope other characters are available or unlocked in an offline mode like challenge/deathmatch. I'm really hoping to see Minion, Thumper, Warthog, Roadkill, and Mr. Slam but so far I haven't heard of any of these characters making a comeback. I understand that multiplayer seems to be taking over the gaming world, however, this series always had a simple style. As long as they bring great car combat gameplay with an offline challenge/deathmatch mode like they have had in the past I will be one jolly S.O.B. I'm sure the game will have great gameplay and great multiplayer, I just hope to see a little more. agent17
I haven't been keeping up with the game too much. But you are right, it does seem like there is only going to be 4 playable characters based on everything we've seen up to this point. Hopefully this will change, the different characters has always kept me interested in the game. Every once in a while I will still go back and play through the old games. I will miss the old classic characters, but apart from their vehicles it is likely we will never see them. Unfortunately Twisted Metal will never be what it once was, a large portion of the team died in a tragic accident. It seems like the series is subject to change with each release. Jake
A lot of the dev team died? Crazy, what happened? Also, these games were the sh*t back in the day. The original was one of the first PS games I ever played. I owned two and three also. And played the fourth but didn't own it. Those were a f*cking blast, man. And they introduced me to Rob Zombie, haha. The trailer looked pretty cool. And I happened to be listening to 'Preaching the End of the World' by Chris Cornell and it happened to sync with it so it ended the same time the trailer did. That was hilarious. Raptomex
If you play Twisted Metal: Head On: Extra Twisted Edition for PS2 it explains what happened to the members that died. It was a plane crash I think. I don't remember all the details. It's quite sad. But yeah my first Twisted Metal game was 3 and it, apparently, is considered the worst. 3, as well as 4, weren't created by the original makers. I still enjoyed them. If we want to talk about the TM games created by the original creators then 2 is my favorite. Dymez
Twisted Metal will have a co-op campaign! Plus a new 'Broken' video. Sharp-eyed tipster, Kevin Clough, recently brought some co-op news to our attention. It seems that the new Twisted Metal game will have a co-op campaign. In a recent interview with Game Informer, Twisted Metal and God of War designer David Jaffe had some interesting information on the co-op properties of the game: "Our single-player, our campaign – which you can also play co-op online or split screen locally – is deeper and more varied than any we’ve done... We have a great IP, great fiction, we’re going to have a great single-player campaign and multiplayer campaign, but at the end of the day this is a game you buy because either you love local split screen gaming with lots of different modes for 2-4 players, or you love going online." Did he just say, "Local split screen gaming with lots of different modes for 2-4 players?" Is Twisted Metal going to offer four player local co-op? We certainly hope so. A quick kick of my Google machine turned up this Twisted Metal information page from PlayStation UK. You don't feel like clicking a hyperlink? Fine. I'll just quote one of the features for you; "Cause chaos offline in single player mode or speed into split screen action for up to four players." That sounds like four player split screen to me, friends. Amazon even lists the game's features as having "2?4 player split screen," whatever that means. What we are uncertain of is the amount of players available for co-op play. While we hope that the game will offer four player co-op (or more), we're listing Twisted Metal as a 2 player local co-op game and 2 player online co-op game for now, just to err on the side of caution. (The four player local split screen mode could turn out to be a 2 vs 2 deathmatch, or something similar.) We do know that sixteen player online combat is confirmed. Players will join one of four factions; the Clowns, the Dolls, the Skulls, or the Preachers, and battle it out in different objective-based modes. Twisted Metal is a PS3 exclusive and it is slated for an October 4 release, so we have plenty of time to bring you all of the co-op details as they become available. We may even pick up a few at E3. For now, here's a trailer with plenty of in-game footage. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/470386-twisted-metal/#findComment-1060501675 Share on other sites

But I couldn't stand the whole dark overtone compared to the rest of the series. I enjoyed the comical yet twisted stories of the originals. It is my thinking that durin Black all the characters fell into a deep dark depression. All of them being very troubled in some way. And even more dangerous than before. Hell, they was all in an insane asylum.... But in this new release sh*t is obviously going to be more outlandish and farfetched. Giant dolls, everything thing blowing apart... I think Sweet tooth is even on a motorcycle. Its not really dark at all. Cant wait to see you guys online, still.
