Will this forum explode when GTA:V is released?

Recommended Posts

It'll explode

The SA and III VC and even IV fanboys will be slating it. People will be posting OMG LOOK AT THIS, and the spoilers will come.

According to the mods, the forum always explodes around the time of a new release. I imagine the activity will peak at the release, then level off for a few months, before dropping to a normal level, with the obvious addition of new members. Then we jack off to V for a while, and it's on to VI.

You asked the mods?

I didn't ask. I saw it in Network Support or something. But yeah, it's all basically a cycle. I imagine it must bring some dreadful downsides, though. I mean, we'll get some new regulars, yes. Plus some returning members like that Scratchcard guy. But guess what else we get? Yup, that's right. We get an outrageous amount of n00bs who join, post a piece off sh*t topic asking for help, then leave. And with more computers and other internet compatible devices out there than ever, combined with the hype that will be generated, these forums will literally explode. Now, granted, I've never actually seen it, but I'd say it's a fair assumption.

And then after a while, we'd all be VI regulars.

I can attest to that. I'm a left over from the SA cycle, but I saw first hand how it worked with GTA IV. Loads of people registered in the years and months before GTA IV, and a handful of them stuck around to form the regular crowd. GTA IV was released and loads of new members joined, and some older members came out of hibernation to see what was going on. GTA IV died down, lots of people went in active, and a few stayed, and you had the GTA IV crowd.

Nothing has been heard about GTA V, so hence why it's pretty quiet around here as of late, but once info comes out, this place attracts new members like sh*t attracts flies.

The forum will really "explode" in the things leading up to the release of GTA V, things such as new screenshots, details and trailers. Then the day before release, people will talk about how pumped up they are for the game, and how they will camp out for pre-orders and such. The day of release, people will come on here and mention that they just got the game. After that, the silence starts unless people need help on missions.

Whenever a new GTA comes out these forums explode. But it's not like it use to be. When I first registered there were more people active on here than ever. But luckily these forums still remain active. And yes there's usually an invasion of people who are active around the time of a new GTA.

I have a feeling it will explode from the anger boiling up inside of the PC users who think consoles are "wrong", and have to wait roughly around six months for a port.

I kid.

Well, so will I. Unless it comes with a video editor.

true dat (about the spoilers).

I hope Tank's ready for the influx of traffic.

It's the fanboys i'm dreading.. "ZOMG GTA V SUCKS! WHERE'S CJ? WHERES THE GROVE STREET GANGSTAS. JETPACK!"

Although I don't post reguarly, I was here for the GTA VC, GTA SA and GTA IV hype and release (although I wasn't a member during the time of the GTA VC release), and I can tell you, the second we get a grain of info, even the logo, this forum will explode. Then when the first trailer comes out, you'll barely be able to load this site up for hours it'll be that busy. All the years of waiting that we do, come to a head! Happens every time. I think speak for everyone when I say I can't wait! The "Hype", the period from the first bit of info to release, is almost as fun as the game itself! tounge.gif

I, for one, probably won't be visiting this site once people can get their hands on V. So many people will try to spoil the sh*t out of the game. And even still, the V forum will be flooded with n00bs posting worthless sh*t. At the same time, we'll all get to jack up our postcounts.

You guys think this site'll hit 400K after the release?

man i can't wait, no game gets me excited like a new GTA. I remember for IV when there was a website counting down to the release of the first trailer, and i remember getting so excited about it. Pretty sad really but thats what a new GTA does to you!

nevermind the forum, the whole friggin' internet is going to explode.

Or will it go silent do to people playing GTA?

Go to the homepage of GTAForums, then go to the very bottom of the page. Read the part where it says what date it was when GTAForums had the most users on at one time.

It was during the day GTA IV was released.

In the months leading up to GTA IV it was like cutting yourself in the ocean being surrounded by sharks on here. It was pretty chaotic. Despite what some people have said since 2008 that they wont get as hyped for GTA V/Next due to their disappointment with GTA IV I believe this to be generally false.

As soon as R* drop the first bit of information it'll be like it was in late 2007/early 2008. The day the game gets released will probably break the most users online record again.

I still remember the day GTA IV got released. I couldn't wait to get on here to tell everyone how excited I was, but everyone had the same idea.
