Crimie Posted August 23, 2017 Share Posted August 23, 2017 (edited) Here since the beginning, in 97 or 98 my older brother got a copy of GTA 1 from his friend and we installed it on our PC. I wasnt allowed to play it by my parents lol (we got caught actively trying to burn hare krishnas!!) but I would play it whenever I got the chance! Eventually the game wouldnt load anymore without the disc so I had to go without. When GTA 2 came out I played it in my friends house but wasnt impressed by it at all, it just didnt have that grimey feel of the original. The trailer/movie did but the game was too futuristic for me This was when I bought my first copy of GTA 1, I remember I got it for £12 and it came in that massive box Then with GTA III, I remember going into the city centre on Christmas Eve and begging the guy in the shop to sell me the game as he was asking for ID but he actually sold it to me - it was a Christmas miracle! I will never forget the trainride home, reading the instruction manual like a tourists guide getting ready to experience GTA in a 3D environment! I remember the first time I stole a car and ran someone over.. Wow what a moment in history for me. I rented London 1969 from my local grocery store multiple times. Mowed yards all summer to buy a dreamcast the day it came out. Bought GTA2 for that.. I would role play that a certain house was mine and park my car in front of it. Standing next to my car id let my character idle and smoke cigs. Played 3 with my best friend until the sun would come up. Straight up marathons. no homo Vice city was the same. Stood second in line for SA release in a pin-stripe suit. The gamestop was releasing it early. during the day. and making it into a pizza party/ costume contest. My friend had a rebel shirt. A mullet wig. And a bb gun. When we went it they made him take the bb rifle out to the car. The person who won a free copy of SA for the costume party? A gamestop employee. The judges? gamestop employees! His costume sucked too. It was just a tux print tshirt, and he was black so he'd just yell "lance vance dance!". IT was funny, buy my friend wore a goofy phil cassidy mullet, in line on a busy street lol. classic. IV and V were collector edition midnight release. It's been a wild ride.. I had GTA 2, however, didn't like it too since there were many 3D games and I actually was enjoying the Driver series at the time when they came out. I still believe it's a very decent title but released at a wrong time, if it was released 1 or 2 years before the actual release date, it might have the respect and the fans it deserved.
