Captain Arthur
I started with Vice City and then went through this long break of playing Gta games because my cousin broke it and during that time, I didn't know ah*t about consoles and games. I forgot the name of the game I loved and played the sh*t outta. Soon, after a few years, I got to play IV for the first time at a friend's house but I didn't play the original IV, I played TBOGT. Afterwards, I bought the game and SA and so, I became hooked to the series.

PolarisDTA
I remember seeing a short preview of it in tips and tricks magazine (it had another name before that) when I was in 8th grade. it was just a matter of waiting for it to come out after that. keysersozeh
I think i played gta 1 in 1998. I played it a t friends house after we both done our shifts at the Mc Donalds . He let me play Gta 1 and Half life for the 1st time. I played 2 legendary titles for the 1st time in that 1 hour. Weird thing is.. at every great (or bad) experience in life you remember all details around it's time frame. Where you were, where you were going, how sunny it was that day... even that nice summer breeze that came trough the window while you were driving over people in a yellow car. Sigh.. time flies... feels like yesterday. Edited March 13, 2014 by keysersozeh Blennerville and Gridl0k

Tank
Started with the GTA 1 demo from a magazine CD, after seeing a preview in the previous issue. I forget what magazine it was, but I believe I've still got the original CD somewhere. Purchased the full game the following weekend. One of the best "new game" experiences I've ever had. Same here, been with the GTA games since the very start. The demo on the CD was ten minutes long IIRC? Also, was there a game called Courier on it? ZenJenga
I played GTA when it first came out at a friend's house and got it myself shortly after. I remember trying to explain it to my parents. I think I was 15 when it came out (I'm 32 now.) I recently went back to it after years of not even so much as seeing it and it's so strange playing it. Still not used to playing with my computer keyboard. Using Ulrika at the moment.
SomeGuy86
I remember when I first saw GTA in school, I believe it was a demo version without 3dfx card and/or support... Can't really tell for sure at this point, but I was around the age of 11 or 12. Few months later, I got the demo version at home, although I was never really into GTA until I got my hands on GTA2 about a year or so later. It ran perfectly on my Pentium 2, 350 machine with 64mb of RAM & Diamond Monster 3D Voodoo2 card, system which I still have today, and it's in working condition
Blingy
Hmmm... It was probably way back in the day, probably when I was maybe 5 or 6 (had to be, that was back in '98) I first played GTA. I didn't really know what I was doing considering I was so young. All I knew, was I could drive a car around a city (not that that was new to me. I've been a Carmageddon fan since day 1.) My brother then moved on to downloading or buying (i'm not sure, it was the early 00's and everything was pirated off of something, somehow) GTA2. Lets just say, I spent a good portion of my early years playing, and eventually beating GTA2. It still holds a special part in my heart because that's where I first got my bearings for GTA, was GTA2. I remember a friend bringing it over for PS1 or PC, not too sure but just being able to shoot the sh*t with a friend while you shot the sh*t, was pretty awesome. I then promptly moved onto GTA3 after seeing my cousin play it a few weeks after it came out, and then going to a friends house to watch her brother play it a few weeks after that. Vice City though.... was the basis of my 3D exploring. I didn't play all that much of GTA3 until I became older, and enjoyed playing it more. Vice City was the one that got my start for the severe love of GTA that I have now. I remember going into this hole in the wall video rental store some days after Vice City came out, and seeing a mint copy on the shelves. I don't think i've ever made my mind up on something as fast as I did that day, I think we were in and out in a matter of 15 minutes. I literally destroyed that disk playing it so much, and it built my love of 80's everything. My brother bought San Andreas about a month or so after it came out, and I played that almost every day up until GTA IV came out. The rest is history.. Spadge
Played GTA 1, the both London expansions and GTA2. The only one I haven't played are CTW and GTAA. GTA1 was only addictive, I think I only played it because there wasn't anything better that interested me back then, it's pretty frustating playing it today, however I enjoy London and 2 for the nostalgia. My favs where in the 3D era however. The game that evokes the most nostalgia for me was Vice City, since the soundtrack from Flash, Wave and Emotion reminded me of my teenage years, 28 years ago from now. It was also the first game, alongside with GTA III with a proper atmoshpere, something special, nothing arcade like in the top down titles. Sawnek
The first GTA that I actually played was GTA III back in 2002. However, I remember watching my cousin play GTA2 well before the release of the third game.

MilezDawg
I started with GTA1 on the PS1 in 1997 when one weekend I decided to rent it from a Hollywood Video while I was in middle school. In 1998, after quite enjoying GTA1 on the PS1, I ended up buying GTA1 and the London expansions for the PC, and a few months later I bought GTA2 the day it was released for the PS1. Other then GTA Advance (the only GTA I haven't played) and GTA1, I purchased every console version of GTA on release date, even purchased Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories the days they were releases for the PS2. I first played a GTA game in1997 when I was 13, I've been a GTA Head since, but the GTA that got me hooked like most that started from the beginning IMO was GTA3. GTA3 in 2001 changed everything, and rejuvinated my interest in gaming. GTA3 forced me to buy a PS2, I was still loving my N64 at that time. Yes, I've been playing GTA since the start, and it will continue to be my favorite game franchise as long as R* keeps making it. ktek01
Started with 1 when it first came out, I was probably 30, played most of them up until San Andreas and then stopped gaming until last year when I got a PS3 with GTAV. My first console was the Atari 2600.
