vincemeister55
hey guys, i got a little problem. well, it's not really a problem but i'm confused. okay here's what makes me confuse. The 1st time I install GTA IV, then the patches from 1.0.1.0-1.0.7.0 one by one, I cannot run the game due to some fatal error. Now what I did is I un installed it then re-install it again. Now, it never asked for the Rockstar Social Club to be installed (since it was remove by the patch 1.0.4.o or 1.0.5.0 the first time I installed the game,I think) so I thought that was the reason. But when I try to patch it again for the official patches, it asked for the Rockstar Social Club, so I installed it. Then I was able to patch it until version 1.0.5.0. Then the 1.0.6.0 version can't be installed so as the version 1.0.7.0 whereas the first time I installed the game, it was successfully patched until 1.0.7.0. And the Rockstar Social Club was not remove. So I start the game and then the Rockstar Social Club appears and I was able to play. Now, my questions is what is the version of my game? Is it version 1.0.5.0? Is versions 1.0.6.0 and 1.0.7.0 already installed in my computer the first time I installed GTA IV that's why I can't install it now? BTW, the error message is this "failed to install update. Check c:\documents and settings\user\application data\local settings\microsoft\GFWLive\install\saves\log". Girish
First off all, you don't have to install all the patches one by one. The latest patch incorporates all fixes from the previous patches, so you only needed to install the 1.0.7.0 patch. To answer your question, you can find out the version of the game by right-clicking on GTAIV.exe and checking the Details tab. vincemeister55
I've check it and it's version 1.0.0.4. So how can I update it to version 1.0.7.0? It already failed to install the first time I re-installed the game, so re-installing the game again will result in the same problem. I always thought it might be the Microsoft Games For Windows- Live installation that causes this but I'm not sure. mkey82
I don't understand anything of this. Versions 6 and 7 remove the separate RGCS application and add the integrated RGSC login window. Installing older version over newer ones is usually not a good idea. If you want to use and older game version, you can completely remove RGSC and GFWL and use xliveless. vincemeister55
how do you remove GFWL? Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/469944-im-confused/#findComment-1060343809 Share on other sites
Girish
Uninstall it from Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. Or you can just use Xliveless to disable it without uninstalling. vincemeister55
Ah okay. I'm using Xliveless now and it's much better. I won't un-install Windows-live since I have other games using it too. It might corrupt the save files. Thanks for the info, man Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/469944-im-confused/#findComment-1060343895 Share on other sites
