I have one word about the trailer: ASS! I'm so sick and f*cking tired of this trend of making sh*tty CGI trailers, it's like the developers can't wait to show their games and they have to hype people up with fake sh*t. f*ck you, show me real footage. You can't trust trailers anymore.

 

At least they didn't put a fake HUD on a prerendered trailer to make it look like gameplay. That's what I really get a kick out of.

 

Trailers have always been like that, though. They've actually gotten more honest in the last few years.

Looks...intriguing. I remember this game being chatted about some years back, then dropping off the radar.

 

Interested in it being melee and scavenging focussed. Hoping you can form some barricades in a place of safety, too.

 

Would've preferred a trailer featuring actual gameplay, though. Sure, these cinematic ones are all nice and flashy, but when a game's been off the radar for years then pops back up again, I'd like to see what I'm going to be playing.

 

And my heartstrings were not tugged over the girl's fate.

Those details make it sound like the developers want to outdo Left 4 Dead. First person melee combat, weapon customisation, RPG elements...

 

I'll give it a chance... though I'm not that excited (yet).

I've played the Left 4 Dead demo and I though it was atrocious

 

The trailer got me hooked on the first viewing of it, but then as I read more about the game, it got duller and duller. First off, why is it in 1st person mode? Games like this that use 1st person mode tend to lack a real game, if you get me. Look at L4D2 for example; the game was just basically going around killing masses of zombies and nowt much else really.

 

We are given 4 main characters to choose from, each with their own main ability, but yet again this is a feature been used far too much now. Yes, it's a good way of making it about tactics and making it different for everyone who plays it, but what we need to see is that this game offers us enough that we actually want to play through the game 4 times.

 

The trailer was gripping, but for the simple fact that a little girl has been munched on and some sad music is playing in the background. As previously said, why do companies insist on giving us some CGI videos with completely different graphics to the game. Yes, it tells us a bit about the game, but not much.

Glad to see the GTANet expand beyond Rockstar games. It just seemed a little brown tongue..y before. I don't like zombie games but I registered just to call AndyGanteks a poop head.

Looks like it could be a good game. Most people love the zombie genre, and maybe having less firepower will make it more interesting. I hope the melee weapons don't degrade over time like other games, but I'm assuming they will. I'm deff going to check this out!

It's called marketing, you f*ckstick. That's the entire point of maintaining business and selling your goods.

While previously known of, the trailer for Dead Island released today has generated massive attention for the game. I personally have already watched it several times.

 

 

 

I know it's only a CG trailer, generally known for being deceiving, but it's so powerful, it would be a genuine shame for the actual game to turn out disappointingly.

I love that video, They made a brave decision with the child in the video, most zombie-related games don't portray children as undead. I wouldn't be surprised if there is going to be a s******m of controversy over the depiction of a dead child in a videogame, if there is a s*******m all that will happen is the game will sell more copies, look what happened with Manhunt 1.

 

I'll be keeping an eye on this game, hopefully it'll be the scare fest that Dead Rising 2 wasn't.

Trailers are more trustworthy than ever. It wasn't that long ago that we'd get a pre-rendered video with a fake HUD slapped on for a trailer.

While the trailer really got me, its still only CG. What I am really wondering is if the game will have children in it. I know it sounds f*cked up, but I have been waiting for someone to do it. I am all for a hack and slash game that has kids doing the slashing and kids getting hacked. YAY! for possibly breaking new moral ground.

Those previews look pretty good but I must say that I'm not keen on the whole idea of weapon customization. I mean, electric machete?

Well yeah, they were all killed. And to play as one of them when you know the ending is they're all butchered in one of the hotel rooms would be a bummer.

 

Another bummer is how similar this weapon system sounds like Dead Rising. That electric machete does sound very camp.

Hah my thoughts exactly. I was thinking of joining the Dead Island forums but changed my mind.

 

This game looks to blend the formulas of Dead Rising, Borderlands and Left 4 Dead together. But the question is, will it mix well?
