Do you smoke straights or roll?

Recommended Posts

Bassically, i used to buy camel Blue the cigarette brand i most admired, that has all now gone down hill where now i love Golden virginia or more or less any type of fresher tobacco with less chemicles in it. First they taste and smell way nicer than straight cigarettes, god i hate the smell and taste of normal cigs now!

The only Problem is i find rolling so hard, do any of you here roll? Damn it's f*cking hard i managed Once to roll myself a decent one, but until then it's so f*cking Hard! what are your methods, ive looked over youtube and am finding it so hard, i dont wanna go back to Straights, Never!!!

Oh no!!!! I'm going to have to post my make smoke video again - sorry people.

I don't do store bought, but then again I don't hand roll either. I make store bought looking cigs.

I have it down to a bit more then 30cents a pack of smokes using this method. Not to mention you get a(oxymoron) healthier cigarette.

Geez...Damn dude, I thought this was another question thread about smoking judging by the title. I didn't know it was another adolescent 'help me learn my way through life' thread.

Anyway you know there are a boat load of cheap joint/tobacco rollers out there. They work with standard rolling papers. It used to be you could buy the standard ez-wider one for like $1

Here is a link to a page of them for sale

That up there is a nice machine. What's it called and where can I buy one?

That is my all time favorite. It is a Rizla single injector. They usually have them Here(for some reason it isn't listed today) but they actually sell them at my corner market for $8

Newport shorts. Nothing else gives me a good enough sensation of horrible, horrible smoke filling my lungs. Even Newport 100s as they just don't seem as harsh. I may try the Premiums sometime, though. I think that's what they're called. But again, every other cigarette I've tried is sh*t. If I bum someone a cig and they try to give me one back next time they have some I'll decline it unless it's a Newport.

Hand rolled or homemade, however you want to put it... too much work for me. I'll pay $48 for a carton that lasts me roughly 2 weeks. Sure it's 16 times what trip pays per pack, but I'll attribute that towards the convenience of having them all put together for me tounge.gif

I smoke Winfield Blues usually, but I'm not a smoker to the point where I buy my own packs so often. I'll buy a deck and it'll last me a month as I only smoke when I go out, and when I go out I smoke very little.

Although the other day I just bought a rolling pouch of Port Royals, they're supposedly soaked in rum+wine. Boss as sh*t.

Anyways, I use this rolling machine:

It's awesome. You pack the tabacky and throw in the filter, then place the paper against the top and then all you do is shut it. As it shuts, it rolls. And pops out a perfectly rolled cigarette.

I seem to intermittently switch between rolls (Golden V) and Lucky Strikes. More the former at the moment as they're cheap as chips.

Cheers man, sorry for the Desperate cry for help, but that was partially what the topic was aimed at.

Honestly it only takes 15 minutes a night to make 3 full packs for me and my wife. We don't smoke all 3 packs everyday so I usually don't have to make smoke on the weekend starting from Friday.

Tempted to go full out slamman mode now. tounge.gif

I'm trying to quit smokiking Amberleaf rollies. Chain smoking when I drink isn't helping.

Please do. I'm needing to save money at the moment, cutting down on cigarettes is part of it. I'm struggling and don't actually wanna give up. Some advice on rolling or cheap tobacco in general would be very handy for me and I'm sure some others.

Oh, I smoke about 10 Marlboro Gold a day.

Can it wait? I'm at work and posting via my phone during a very painful conference call that has been going for over 4hrs now cry.gif

I need a beer and a real keyboard to give it the needed love.

No, you're not allowed. Mush mush! turn.gif

I must say I like the tubular way of doing it. Means I can stick em in a normal fag packet and use them as I always do, plus they're the size I'm used to. I'd be very interested in learning about it. Not to mention the money saving considering I'm on £6.50 a 20 deck. Ten dollars a pack. Fifty cents a cigarette. Starting to hurt.

Looking forward to your reply over a beer later icon14.gif

Make your own store bought cigarettes and save tons of money!!

This post is brought to you by the new Yuengling Bock beer. "Tases Good"

Due to the skyrocketing costs of store bought cigarettes, some smokers may actually be thinking about quiting. I'm here to tell you that you don't have to give up your addiction just for money reasons.

With a very minimal start up investment of around $10 you can start to produce your own filtered cigarettes at home. Not only can you produce your own cigarettes at home, but you can tailer them to your exact tastes and liking. You name it; menthol, lite, strong, very strong, kings, 100s and so on. The combinations and options are nearly unlimited.

Here is what you need to get started:

-The one time investment in a cigarette machine(also called an injector)

user posted image

This one sells for $8 at RYOCigarette.com

-A box of cigarette tubes.

user posted image

Tubes are sold in lots of 200(same amount as a standard carton of cigarettes). Sometime you have to experiment with different tubes to find the ones you like. I really like Rizla tubes, because they have a very small filter which gives me a stronger tasting cigarette. You can get any size tube from kings to 100s. You can also get lite tubes and even menthol tubes. More on menthol later. At the local corner store a box of [Rizla]tubes costs slightly under $4. Since I like to save money I buy mine in bulk from the internet and get it down to a little more than $1.50 a box.

-Some lose rolling tobacco.

I like American Spirit because it is 100% natural American tobacco that has no chemical treatments like the tobacco that Big Tobacco companies produce. The problem is it is very expensive and thanks to a new tax law that passed here in the US last year it has tripled in price from when I first started using it. But all is not lost, since tobacco companies found a loophole in the tax law and can sell 'pipe tobacco' *wink wink and not be subject to the tax. So now there are a few all natural 'pipe tobaccos' that are pretty much cigarette tobacco with just a larger cut(or shag as it is called in the tobacco world)

That bag of Golden Harvest is slightly under a pound and sells for $9. Think about it - for less then two packs of store bought cigarettes you can have almost a whole pound of tobacco!

I have to say this though - Even though Golden harvest is good, it does need to be blended with a regular cigarette tobacco. Not so much for the taste but to make up for the difference in the cut of the tobaccos.

Sure blending might sound like a pain in the ass, and I'm not going to sit here and defend blending. It can be an extra hassle. Out of all of my friends who make their own cigarettes, I am the only one who blends. And the only reason I blend is because I am married to a pretty serious hippie, vegetarian woman who demands her tobacco be 100% pure and natural.

Most of my friends are happy just living off of cans of Top or Bugler.

Back before the new tax was implemented you used to be able to buy a pound of tobacco from a company called 'Checkers' for $1....Holy crap!!! It was $1 a pound. f*cking new taxes that were implemented because BigTobacco started to get upset that people weren't buying their products.

People might say that they can't be hassled with it, or that they don't have the time to make their own cigarettes. To that I say "You haven't even tried - how would you know?". Like I mentioned earlier in this topic; I dedicate about 15 minutes 4 nights a week to keep me and my wife smoking constantly all week long. So for one hour of my time spread out over 4 days, I have to say that is not a very deep investment of time. I make my cigarettes while watching CashCab on TV, so it isn't like I'm missing anything that is life important during those 15 minutes. I'm sure some of you watch TV for 15 minutes.

A note to menthol smokers:

They make both menthol tubes as well as menthol tobacco. I understand that you don't want to use both together. My menthol smoking buddy uses a really cheap regular tobacco and menthol tubes.

And since this is a photo heavy thread here are a few crappy ones I just took.

Look it is a standard filtered cigarette.

Storing your homemade cigarettes in an old empty cig pack only works for a bit. Eventually the cardboard/paper pack gets ratty and you will need to invest under $1 in a nice case for yourself

RYOCigarette.com

This is where I buy my bulk tubes. I've also bought my last injector from them. Their prices for tobacco are a bit high though.

SmokersOutletOnline

This is where I buy my big bags of natural pipe tobacco(that isn't really pipe tobacco)

Here in Philadelphia, the supplies are available in regular stores too. I buy my American Spirit cans at the corner deli a block from my house. It is actually cheaper there than from the internet. They also sell tubes, and injectors. Most pharmacies in this area stock cans of tobacco and tubes as well.

I've been making cigarettes for this household for about 5yrs now, and I can't tell you how much I have saved. I can say that it is noticeable in my bank account though. My one friend used to use the line "The money I save is equal to a car payment a month". So there you go - make your own cigarettes and buy a new car because you will be able to pay for it with all the money you are saving.

HA. More Bock. Good man.

Seems like I'll have to try it out.

Found a site in the UK that'll supply the tubing machine and the tubes. £4 for the machine (Rizla Concept) and £20 for 2500 tubes. Combine that with a £60 bag of Golden Virginia being good for about 750-800 odd cigarettes (apparently), I should be able to get the price of a 20 deck down to...£1.63. Eight pence a cigarette. Now we're talking.

I reckon I'll put in an order come pay day for the tubes and the machine, then try a little with a small bag of rolling tobacco, see how it goes. If all goes well, time to bulk buy.

I'm sure that will save you plenty of money. I did the math a few months ago, and together my Dad and his girlfriend spend about $350 a month on cigarettes. That's easily a car payment or two.

It is a terrible shame, to see all that money go to waste on somthing that could eventually become a major threat on your life. Beh, people make their own choices.

Aye it works out to be about £2.50 a day saving at my rate of smoking. £75 a month or so. Almost a grand a year.

Not as bad as the other guys, he claimed his dad and girlfriend spend 350 a month on cigs, coming to an estimated $4200 between them. Thats a hell of alot of money if you ask me, depending on how you look at it. I mean that could buy you alot of usefull and cool things, not to mention things that could help you pay of bills and things like that. I'm still young and innocent, don't often think about those kind of things.

Sanjeem, I'm not sure you understand what is going on here. Or I am just confused (as normal).

Since my wife and I both smoke about a pack a day apiece which would normally cost about $12 a day If I just use the $9 bag and don't blend with the expensive stuff we save a good $11 a day. That is $77 a week, $308 a month, $3600+ a year in savings.

If you calculate back to when I started(without adjusting for the changing costs due to taxes) I have saved over $18,00 during the past 5 years.

Sanjeem, I'm not sure you understand what is going on here. Or I am just confused (as normal).

Oh i see what is going on now, silly me i thought that's how much you spent on cigarettes, i thought that in Marks case anyway. I got confused between what leik oh em jeez was saying about his dad and girlfriend spending and you and Mark saving.

My bad.
