Sea Exploration In GTA V

Recommended Posts

In GTA SA u can explore under the sea. What about in GTAV with a Scuba diving gear like this.

I don't want to sound harsh but it's completely & utterly pointless, unless we had a Mission based under water, but let's not get all James Bond with GTA : biggrin.gif

I don't see why not. The more possibilities, the better. If there isn't a mission that involves diving underwater, there could at least be a submerged hidden package somewhere (assuming Hidden Packages make a comeback).

I think it's a good idea, though, because it could serve as a way to temporarily hide from gunshots if found in such a situation.

Diving was a neat feature in San Andreas, paired up with some (at the time) quite interesting under-water environments and the fact that you had to look for seashells...

But considering how big and detailed the games are nowadays, i'd rather have them spending all the time they could have making beautiful underwater stuff on making more improvements and innovative gameplay elements above the water. That's where you spend most of your time anyways.

Official General

This feature was in San Andreas. and remember liking it. I'd like to see the sea-diving feature again in a new GTA game, and if this happens, I'd like to see Rockstar elaborate and improve on it. They could create sea-diving activities like looken for sunken treasure or drug cargos to sell for cash, something like that. Adding dangerous ea creature like sharks would be cool too.

Its not pointless?

using that argument, your saying that being able to shoot people when your not doing missions is pointless. The idea of rampages is pointless. Have pedestrians etc in general is pointles.. It isnt pointless at all. Its all in the name of fun, and personally I love the idea, especially if you can use scuba equipment and stay underwater for a wall. Imagine the graphic and scenery chances, and the opportunities for easter eggs.

I just want a Freaking huge sea monster to come out of the water and eat you when you leave the boundries of the map and if possible, a working submarine and sharks. biggrin.gif

sharks. biggrin.gif

That actually sounds like a good idea, specifically in a VC setting. When you swim out of boundaries, you are attacked by sharks and basically torn to shreds. And they're Great Whites, so you can't outswim, overpower, or defend against them. Stay the f*ck away from the borders of the map.

Although I guess that'd be kind of annoying if you have some really good weapons or something and you get killed out there......

In GTA setting, a rebreather would make more sense than scuba gear, since it allows to swim under water undetected. Perhaps, have both, and have AI react to presence/lack of bubbles.

To whoever suggested a port with big ships which come and go, i've wanted this for years well before IV was even announced. You could hijack cargoes, smuggle goods and people in and out and maybe even control a big ship, although I'm not sure about the feasibility of this for one person- maybe for a mission in which you naturally end up crashing it straight through a fully-destructible pier ALA Speed 2 (Awful film)?

I really want a Giant Phukkin Yacht something 400 feet and above. I understand BOGT had a yacht you can blow up but can you explore it satisfactorily? I'd bet 10 Pounds against it. Imagine if the owner gave you missions and you had to move around the map finding it each time because it moved? Then when you DO blow it up you can sneak onboard and stealthily kill everyone aswell as blow it to smithereens with a Hunter. Choices people.

Fishing sounds hilarious fun. When you quit the activity you could keep the rod as a weapon. I really want to see more variety/skins for the smaller boats. When was the last time you visited a marina? What did you see? That's right. DOZENS of different types of motor and sailing boats. Right now we might have for instance 100 cars and 8 boats. That number needs to rise slightly to I-Don't-Know, 50? You DEFINATELY should be able to sail with the wind on boats with sails. It could be a whole new, challenging minigame in itself and would encourage R* to simulate realistic wind patterns/storms.

I also want one of those insane 150-Knot twin-turbine powered catamarans.

Even the tug in IV could have missions associated with it where you help push big ships around the harbour. Ditto fireboats, water-taxis, coast guard boats and police boats which could all have missions. And it doesent HAVE to be a warm city. Imagine a scuba diving mission inside an aquarium?! Infact no GTA has had one yet. Another interior to explore/fight in.

It would also allow the implementation of special underwater pistols as a novelty weapon, plus harpoons and scuba chariots.

@visionist,

yeah the possibility of more watercraft would really make way for some fantastic gameplay features in hijacking and smuggling missions as sources for extra cash! I think this would be a must for a Vice City setting.

The images of the aquaria look fun as hell for a gun fight. Imagine the glass breaking and the subsequent gush of water knocks every nearby off their feet.
