Freezing

I have a freezing problem, mostly in driving sequences. Sometimes when walking. I don't know what's causing it.

 

OS: Windows 7Home Premium (64 bits)

Manufacturer/Model: HP G62 Notebook

CPU/Processor: Intel Pentium P6100 @ 2.00 GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz

Memory: 4GB RAM (4096MB)

DirectX: DirectX 11

Graphics card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 Series

Dedicated video memory: 512 MB

Resolution: 1366 x 768 (60 Hz)

That's a weak CPU/GPU combo. Are you sure your laptop's not overheating? I suggest you check your temps.

Btw, when it freezes, what exactly happens? Does the game crash afterwards? Do you get an error?

I'm pretty sure it's not overheating. It doesn't crash or anything. Just freezes randomly. No mods installed either.

Have you actually checked? Assumption is mother of all f*ckups.

Did you install any mods? I recently have the same problem. I've done everything - including reinstallation my operating system.

 

Even vanilla GTA IV, 1.0 (or Patched to 1.0.7.0 - Completely Seperate OS/Game Reinstallation) locks up / stutters at random times. Seems to happen most often when Police Lights come on.

 

The computer doesn't have any problems running Bad Company 2 at 1600x1200 16x AF, 1xAA + Max Settings.

 

The only thing I can think of is that Boris (ENB) said his ENB 0.82 was toasting video cards - and that's the last thing I was using before I had lockups and freezing.
