Will Microsoft and Sony ever consider...

Recommended Posts

Do you think Microsoft and Sony will ever make something that allows Xbox live members and PSN members to be ably to play against each other instead of having 2 totally incompatible networks? I just joined live and although there are allot of people there I can't help thinking there could be more, what do you think? Even if you think the answer is no, there are still positives and negatives to talk about.

It would be so much better, there would always be numbers online, for this to work though sony doesn't have to charge, they merge servers, then SONY pays half and Microsoft pays half, they have the funds to not charge except Microsoft is a pile of sh*t greedy bastards, i wish it would happen but it won't, sony and microsoft are firmly against each other.

It won't happen, more to blame on Microsoft's side, Sony have worked together with Valve and the upcoming Portal 2 will be the first game on the market that has cross platform play between PS3 Users, PC Users and MAC Users, Valve wanted to do something like this on the Xbox but Microsoft were against it for either "fairness" reasons or money reasons.

Won't happen. People having to choose one or the other means competition, competition means more money.

At the end of the day that's all both Sony and Microsoft care about.

I see what you mean here, I know a couple of people that have both of the consoles, this simply wouldn't happen if they merged there networks though.

I agree: in the commercial world it's not possible. Though for the sake of playing with friends and having more people online it would be awesome.

PS3 is soon gonna start been cross platform with Mac and PC in Valve's games (well I hope so anyways).

But no, Live and PSN will always be seperate.

unless datel make some software that adds onto the PS3 Xbox 360 that allows this to happen. Failing that the only other way it will happen is if Sony and microsoft merge but what are the chances of that happening?

And there folks is your answer.

I'm not exactly sure who Datel are, but I can tell you the legal headache anyone would have trying to run a service that relies totally on MS's XBL and Sony's PSN is substantial. It'd be similar to trying to run a taxi service with cars from Rent-a-Car.

Exactly what I was thinking. In a situation like that you'd probably end up against both companies in court, and that would ruin anyone's financial future indefinitely.

At least we could get rid of women then.

Wat.

Women are awesome if you do it right.

Wait, this topic's about the merging of XBL and PSN, not women.

For the record, it will never happen because of a reason I may edit into the post later.

Right now, it's BFBC2 time for me.
