It's only natural. They're contrasting colors. Cover art, movie posters, and the like aren't about artistic creativity, they're about advertising, and those colors catch the eye. That said, I'm sure most graphic designers hate it, but them's the breaks.

That cover is pretty swingin'. Do I get Karkand for pre-ordering the regular version, or do I have to get the LE? It does look pretty awesome, but if I can avoid spending another €10 on nothing more than a piece of plastic paper that would sweet. I'm getting conflicting reports from the EA site:

 

"Pre-order Battlefield 3 to receive the digital expansion pack Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand at no extra charge! /.../ Players anxious to start the fight can pre-order the Battlefield 3 Limited Edition now."

 

I interpret that as pre-ordering the regular version will get me Karkand, but I'm not 100% sure...

I believe only the Limited Edition gets you Karkand. Although if you buy the regular edition you can buy the expansion pack some time after the release.

Crysis 2 LE was sold at the same price as the regular edition.

 

Or at least it was meant to be, some markets in Finland sold the Limited Edition at a lower price.

Just preordered the Battlefield 3 Limited Edition: Physical Warfare Pack from GAME. It comes with the four remastered maps as well as a Type 88 LMG with bipod, DAO-12 Shotgun with flechette ammo and a SKS sniper rifle flash suppressor.

Just preordered the Battlefield 3 Limited Edition: Physical Warfare Pack from GAME.

Aaand now I need to re-pre-order.

 

Also, here, the Limited Edition of the game is the only version available, and it's the same price as a normal game.

It's likely the same as Bad Company 2 where all preorders got the limited edition (plus anyone who buys while the stocks last).

So going by that video, we've been shown one scripted event in BF3, compared to... eight or nine (at least) in MW3.

 

Gee, it sure is hard choosing which game I'm more excited about.

What I got from this.

MW3 will have A LOT of destruction, but it's all pre-planned and in cutscenes.

BF3 will have A LOT of destruction, but happening as you do stuff, oh and minor destruction. Some pre-planned, other as you go, like the minor bullet destruction of walls. BF3 will kick MW3's ass, but MW3 will sell more.

@Menaced: That looks awesome! Oh, and the inclusion of the SKS is totally badass! If the Type 88 LMG still has a 200 round magazine, then I can definitely see it being useful from a prone position. Both the Armsel Striker and flechette ammo are full of win also!

 

EDIT: I've noticed that only the UK gets Physical Warfare. You bloody wankers!

I think they are expanding the customisation to a certain Call of Duty like extent but without f*cking it up and making it totally imbalanced/retarded. They learned alot from BC2 and MOH I guess and from what I've seen now and read it seems like they're going to implement it (attachements/customisations) in a very cool way.

That video did one thing, it made me realise that sadly, I'm actually looking forward to both.

 

BF3 to a huge extent, and MW3 mostly just to find out what happens in the story.

I don't even see the point in comparing the single player, since no-one is going to be interested for more than a couple of hours.
