I know co-op had been mentioned, but this IGN article mentions that the campaign will be. Not sure that had been confirmed before?

Sorry for the double post, but I feel this may interest some of us. Was just looking through my Facebook wall when:

Hoped on seeing actual footage of the map instead of artwork. Still nice though and dig the artwork/promo artwork for the Back to Karkand "mappack/expansion".

You're just as bad as the people in the comments! biggrin.gif

It's Part 1. After the teasing with the Fault Line trailer, we should be used to it by now.

"It's well designed and well balanced. The best map ever made"

HAHAHAHAHAH! Most iconic FPS map, sure. Best? Hahahha.

Anyway, this was an incredibly disappointing reveal because they didn't reveal ANYTHING.

I hate to sound like a broken record here, but they didn't describe it as a "reveal". It was described as "very first images and new info", as you can see in my quotes up the page. Which is exactly what it was, even if it was an edited wallpaper and a piece of concept art.

You made it disappointing yourself, by expecting too much.

However, I'm sure they'll "reveal" something in the following updates. They have to.

Dragon Valley should be in this pack. I didn't really like Karkand.

Yeah, that's true. Goddamn those evil marketing bastards and their ways with words.

@J'n'H: To be honest, I hate that map too but I still spent most of my time in BF2 on it. lol. There's just something about it...

If they don't reveal more, we can get angry together.

EDIT: Sian Welby (from EA's PWNED) put this on Twitter earlier today:

Hey BF3 fans, if ur wondering whether to preorder from GAME to get the physical warfare pack, DO IT! the weapons will be awesome!

This is good, because it's where I've pre-ordered from, but it may also mean different offers from different places. confused.gif

As odd a complaint as it is, It annoys me every time I watch a gameplay video that the gun is placed so that it runs into the bottom of the screen with space left on the right side instead of running right into the corner. It makes the guns look small and not terribly intimidating.

Why does a gun need to look intimidating from your point of view? The opposite of what you are saying was one of my complaints about Crysis 2 by the way.

Pre-ordered LA Noire the other day, so need to wait a little longer for the cash to build up again before I can pre-order this beauty.

Yeah, the guns are HUGE in Crysis 2.

I like how the gun appears smaller, just seems more realistic. In real life you don't walk around holding the gun up to your face.

I like how it's one of the only franchises (mainstream that is) that uses alot of weapon sway/wobbling. When holding weapons you aren't a robot...

YAY, a picture to fap to from the Special Edition (or well, back to Karkand thingy).

Because it's a gun in a video game. If it were real life, simply having the gun would make it feel intimidating. But when you're playing, you're not holding a gun; you're holding a controller and probably sitting in a comfy chair. I'm not asking for guns to be overly bulky or anything to make them look 'bada$$ lolol'. I didn't like the guns in Crysis 2 either. Showing less of the gun on the screen creates the illusion that it's bulkier than it really is without it actually being unrealistically bulky.

Just a quick mock-up:

To me the one on the left makes it look like he has the gun butted against his chest. It just looks unnatural and weird to me. The camera angle in the game is obviously going to have a much narrow field of view than the human eye because a 2D image on a flat screen would be distorted like a fisheye lens image if it tried to match the near-180° FOV of the human eye. As a result, games typically have below a 90° FOV and even that makes things look distorted. It looks like DICE are trying to compensate for that by placing the gun more toward the center of the screen, but it just ends up looking awkward.

I believe having the gun close to the edge of the screen is a console 'thing' due to a lower FoV than PC games generally. Not a bad thing, I just prefer a bigger FoV.

To me having the gun more in the center does look like it's up to your face. When I carry a gun in real life, I hold it off to the side -- not under my nose.

And yes, consoles generally have a narrower FoV because you're not sitting with your head 16 inches from the screen. A good compromise would be to have a slightly adjustable FoV. It's a give-and-take matter. Do you want to sit close to the screen and see more? Or do you want to sit back from a TV and still be able to see things in the distance? Seeing as I play on a PS3, I'd obviously choose the latter. I hope that there will be some kind of option like this seeing as DICE isn't going the typical route of sh*ttily porting console games to PC.

I use a TV with my PC and sit quite far away from the screen yet I still prefer a high FoV. I see where you're coming from though.

My point though was that if you're playing on console, the gun may not be in the corner like we've seen due to it being PC footage. You never know though.

I hope so. I watched the 12-minute gameplay video on both my PC and my PS3 and it definitely feels 'right' on my PC. Personal preference, I guess. At least it's not BC2 where the gun seemed to be at a different FoV degree than everything else. tounge2.gif
