They've ruined Battlefield 3 with this server nonsense that is going on. I just want to play on a server which cycles through all the maps but is rush only but when I do eventually find one I can't add it to my favourites. I can only add DICE servers to my favourites. It's really annoying playing with friends now because we have to back out after every game and then search again for rush. What imbecile decide to add this playlist or whatever the crap it is and not even update the server browser? These aren't upgrades they're downgrades!

I've been using pretty much all the basic guns and just grinding the attachments with them, so would this mean that if I want my US Support class to use the M249 but my RU class to keep using the RPK 74M I wont have to manually switch them? pardon my stupidity.

You set up a loadout for when you're American, and another for when you're Russian. Both loadouts can have the same set-up if you have the weapons unlocked, so no more switching around.

Pity it's a bit late for me, until I get bored of this current weapon experiment. Will be handy for pistols, though. Maybe even RPG and SMAW. Oh, and perhaps recon.

Yes they did. I don't have PS3, but I know that was one of the fixes.

Can't wait for the update... it's installing. Everything seems so promising. I already creamed my pants when I installed one of the latest Nvidia driver updates and everything maxed played even more smoothly than before... plus no more jagged lines randomly popping up.

This patch is great. The HUD is a lot better, map is less useless, the commo rose is good, the Stinger is a powerhouse and MAVs can still kill. I figured I'd try out how the MAV works now, and in doing so I accidentally killed myself by crashing into an enemy. That enemy was me.

MAVs can still kill. I figured I'd try out how the MAV works now, and in doing so I accidentally killed myself by crashing into an enemy. That enemy was me.

Feels like a new game, weapons are more balanced, runs smoother, everything is displayed more clearly.

 

Just one slight issue, the sound still cuts out. But that doesnt bother me too much. Love this game a lot more now.

Yeah, getting people on the ground with the main cannon is one of the most satisfying things in the game, especially when they're trying to stinger/javelin me.. which they were, haha. Seb was in that game, he heard me getting all stoked over it.

 

You'll beat that 10-0 with practice.. I didn't think I'd ever be able to MVP in a jet when I started, now it's surprisingly easy as long as you can sort out the enemy jets quickly and actually contribute to the battle on the ground through spotting people and calling then disabling/destroying vehicles.

Asking an expert, what would be the best upgrade combo? I currently use flares, air radar, and rocket pods. I hate heat seekers because it requires no skill to use. But it is somewhat of an advantage when enemies use them, when they have perfect aim on me, they could choose to let out a line if fire, and I'm dead. But they instead choose to waste time by locking on for heat seekers. in the time they are locking on when we are on a collision course, I am actually doing damage, while they do none to me. By the time they get a lock, we have passed, I did damage to him, and I am unhurt. The dumb decisions of other pilots is the main reason I get kills with jets. Other day, in the z11w, I was LITERALLY 15 feet from the little bird. He continued to try and lock on, instead of just letting the guns blaze.

 

Needless to say, stupid birds get shot down.

I use Air Radar, ECM and Guided Missiles, and I'll explain why:

• Air Radar: Goes without saying, you can see where all enemies in the air are. It's been patched (though of course we're still unpatched on 360), but up until now it gave me the ability to see absolutely every vehicle on the map, including mortars, spawn beacons and SOFLAMs. This has allowed me to, even if I'm not engaging an enemy, call them out to my teammates on the ground. It's nerfed to buggery now, but it's still going to be the best option in my opinion (though I'll be experimenting anyway).

ECM Jammer: This is hit or miss.. Flares are more useful against lesser players as they're definitely more consistent, and you can wait until the enemy has fired. Against decent plots though, ECM allows you to remove your jet from their air radar for 5 seconds. This has many uses.. If you're doing loops with an enemy, it can help get them off your tail/get you on theirs; if you're being spawnraped, pop it immediately and they often don't realise you're in the jet as you're taken off their air radar; if you're coming in to take a run on an unsuspecting jet, you can pop it as you're coming in so that you get a second to get on their tail properly and take your first shots before they're able to notice you on their air radar. However, against great jet pilots.. well, they'll just follow your ECM smoke trails anyway and they're not thrown off your trail, so it's entirely up to you. Don't use anything but flares or ECM. Also, both flares and ECM have a 10 second reload, however ECM is active for 5 seconds, whereas flares are merely 2.

Guided Missiles: I used to use rocket pods, they're bloody class, and you feel like a boss swooping in on a tank and delivering its end from above. I switched to guided missiles however for a few reasons, most of which only seemed evident after I tried going back to rocket pods. In the guided missiles' view mode, you're zoomed in and are able to spot players on the ground so easily.. and you can use its crosshairs to line the player who is on the ground up for an MG run, provided they don't run around too much. The other reasoning is that despite how awesome rocket pods feel, divebombing in on tanks results in far too many suicides from colliding with things, which in turn means your jet takes another 30/45 seconds to respawn and in the worst case scenario your team loses aerial dominance and the match can be lost as a result - Guided missiles on the other hand allow you to do a lot of damage from above, and do it relatively safely provided you know where your plane is going. If you use heatseekers and they're not your only unlock so far, you're an idiot.

That's actually a lot of writing, Jesus. When getting to grips with flying, stay high and come in on opponents to do damage. Use the MG as much as possible, even if you do use heatseekers. Again, if you do use heatseekers, keep the main gun selected until you're sure you'll get a lock with the heatseekers. Edited March 29, 2012 by EmSixTeen

Got my highest ever scoring game including awards earlier, 62,544. Was glad to see that, eager to get upto that elusive rank 100! haha.

 

Also, 706 score per minute and still going up. Given that I play all classes, all gamestyles and on all maps, that's the real accomplishment to me. Genuinely stoked!

lol Sorry, now I feel like an ass. Thanks for the help, I'll experiment with it some.

I hate the F-35. It's maneuverability sucks. The only way I get kills with it is hovering low, defenseless, shooting infantry and helicopters. It doesn't stand a chance against other jets, so the only thing I can do is to stay away from them to avoid a fight.

Installing this game now, 75% done. Pretty excited, haven't played a Battlefield game for a while, but I've had a bit of an itch to do so lately.

 

Hope there aren't a bunch of Origin-related hoops to jump through after the install, as I've apparently heard. It's already taking a lot of stomach to even be using this pile of piss.

My tribute to Battlefield 3's vehicle laser guided weapons. They have brought me so many moments of happiness.

 

Of course they are not always necessary, as a precise (which means lucky) shot with your cannon might do the trick.

 

I wanted to use this song in a video since Bad Company 2, for a completely different concept, but BF3 turned out to offer something that fits this song even more perfectly.

 

I had been collecting clips for weeks, and out of dozens of them I was finally able to put this together.

I wanted to get some more cannon hits, but I just could not wait any longer.

 

What surprises me, is that I so rarely die in this fashion. Well, more scout pilots do use this choice of weapon these days, but I really cannot say that I was shot down by a tank more than a few times, while the number of my kills and assists is probably nearing a hundred.
