Battlefield 3

That must mean they want it to be a CoD killer, since MoH didn't pan out as well as they hoped.

I don't care really, this game looks way better than any new CoD game, which I'm sure they'll be churning out around the same time.

I agree that this looks better than COD:BO!

But for the moment we haven't seen anything from a new COD game. And i'm sure if the new one hits the market in november, it will sell more than any battlefield game. Just plain reality...

Creed Bratton

So, everybody may know that the game is hopefully coming out in November. But, did you know EA are planning to spend $100 million on advertising?!

Holy crap. Let's just hope their advertizing campaign isn't retarded like it usually is. That Dead Space 2 ad was idiotic. They really know how to shoot gaming industry in the foot.

But I don't really need any convincing. The game already looks like everything I want from a PC modern shooter and more.

I liked the Dead Space 2 advert.

Also, the BC2 one was pretty good, hard to beat a bit of Queens of the Stone Age.

I personally prefer the BFBC2: Vietnam launch trailer.

I've always been a sucker for that song.

Yeah, that BC2 one really got me. But I had all my money tied up at the time. Then by the time I had money, Mass Effect 2 came out. Then Splinter Cell: Conviction, and then Red Dead Redemption. And by that time I kind of forgot about BC2.

I was, until I had to listen to it over and over on the menu.

Are you actually saying you got tired of Creedence Clearwater Revival's Fortunate Son? Are you f*cking kidding me? D:

I can't get enough of that song, CCR f*cking OWNS.

Even after the twentieth loop?

I'd probably still enjoy it now, but even I had to mute the menu sometimes.

Put two zeroes behind it and I will still enjoy it. I can't even count how many times I've heard that song. In Battlefield Vietnam itself, just the track from their LP, on my iPod, when chilling with friends, when BBQ'in... it doesn't matter I f*cking love CCR.

Also I finally dig the new 'BF' theme they used in the teaser trailer. I'm now aching for more.

According to my XBL "Personalized Update" I spent 71 hours 2 minutes playing BC2 last month and much of that was in Vietnam. I've heard the first few bars of that CCR song enough to last me the rest of the year. Pap won't even play it in the tanks any more.

THIS is the song I got tired of instantly. Always skip that when I hear it coming up.

biggrin.gif Ride of the Valkyries is where it's at. That or the one about "lovely Samantha".

Anyway, determined to keep this topic bumped.

Here's a very interesting interview with Patrick Bach on Jolt. Definitely one for you PC guys.

Also, worth mentioning they put some new screens and concept art up on the official site. The screens are just from the existing trailers, however.

I can't believe they still have less realistic reload animations than CoD4!

I'm talking about the M4. Long story short: just like in a handgun, after you shoot the all the rounds in the magazine and insert a new one, you only have to push on a lever to chamber the first new round (slide release on a pistol, bolt catch on automatic rifles like the M4). Pulling the charge handle is just a waste of time and makes you look like you don't know how your weapon works.

I can't sleep at night now.

Considering the game isn't out for half a year I wouldn't worry because DICE's previous shooter's reloading animation was mostly by the book. sigh.gif

Holy sh*t! Did you see that chicken?

Anyways, I just put $5 on Battlefield 3 yesterday, and I also picked up Battlefield 1942: The Complete Collection for the PC. It runs pretty well except for Battlefield 1942 closing half of the time when starting a round (which hasn't irritated me too much yet) and Battlefield Vietnam's music and speech not working (which I fixed by running in Windows 98 compatibility). Those aside, I think my only other complaint is how Battlefield Vietnam has AI that is quite bad compared to Battlefield 1942's AI.

Checking a site, my PC supposedly shouldn't be able to play Battlefield Vietnam, but it does quite decently. I have a Intel® G33/G31 Express Chipset Family video card while it says I should have a 64 MB AGP video card with DirectX 9.0b compatible driver (NVIDIA GeForce3+ /ATI Radeon 8500+). Since it can run Battlefield Vietnam, is that good enough to run Battlefield 2 or atleast Battlefield Play4Free? I really don't have a job, but I feel like buying a new video card when I do have the money.

I just played play4free and if my guess is right I probably have a worse computer than you. I can play it ok but it's on lowest settings.

My only qualm with play4free is that I just played a match with a bunch of people using the best assault rifle (you have to pay for it to use it forever) and everybody was just getting dominated. WE had no chance.

@Xboxless: You seem like you're more of a console player (like me), but would you know what kind of video card you have? I think my video card is probably a default for Windows Vista, but that can use some confirmation.

Sometimes those websites that say if you can run a game properly is complete sh*t. One of those sites said my computer, under no circumstances, could run Sims 3. Booted it up a few minutes later and it ran near flawless on max resolution and med / high settings.

I believe it's just because two components or specs are quite different (most likely due to make), but that doesn't mean your PC won't run the game.

Anyways, to keep us busy to Battlefield 3, did anybody watch the launch trailer for Battlefield Play4Free? Also, the Battlefield theme for that game is called Age of Rage by Corroded.

Actually I do know what I have its a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200.

What year did battlefield 2 come out, like early 2000's right?

If your comp can play play4free well you should prob be able to play BF2 since apparently play4free is the same engine only slightly better looking.

I guess so. By an artist called jj, who I can't say I've heard of. wow.gif

Also, the Facebook page is at 684,347 likes. Not sure their challenge is possible. Leading on in a way from what fullmetal said, I'm fairly sure most people already like it that would.

I meant to say 'My Life' by The Game. Still, the style it's sang in fits the trailer for me.

Oh sh*t... I really hope this game lives up to it's expectations and will finally be the return of true FPS gaming on PC. Bad Company 2 wasn't horrible at all but in the end it was still a "consolised" FPS on the PC. A good one that had the heart in the right place and all the respect for PC gaming but nothing like the 'good old' PC FPS games we had in the past.

This is looking like it's going to be THE return of PC FPS gaming. I just hope it eventually is what we were craving for the past few years.

On a sidenote, I came big time when I was watching the trailer.
