tubbs51
Developer Undead Labs said today it has entered into a publishing deal with Microsoft Game Studios for Class3, an upcoming "open world zombie-survival game" exclusively for Xbox Live. The team is looking to answer the big question: What would you do in the face of the zombie apocalypse? Creative Director James Phinney wouldn't give away too many details, but said that 'choice' will be a major part of the gameplay. "If you see a bunch of survivors held up in a building, do you go in and save them? Do you then accept their gratitude and send them on their way or bring them into your shelter," he told IGN. Class3 Concept Art Phinney explained that as players continue to grow and expand their survivor group, they can then decide to build additional structures, such as sniper towers and reinforced walls for your property. Additionally, food is required to stay alive. Players will either have to try and grow their own crops or raid supermarkets. "It's going to look and control like games that people are very familiar with on consoles," he said. A release date was not announced, but Phinney added that Class3 is "much more constrained in scope than a full online-world game" so the development time is much shorter that expected. Undead Labs will use Class3 as a platform to develop its other unannounced project, Class4, a persistent online game - not an MMO - and will released at a later date. Norehapshida
Sounds cool, but I'm wondering if they can pull it off. An open world zombie game is a concept I've always thought would be fantastic if done right. Xtreme921
This is bullsh*t. f*ck exclusives. Hells to the yes, I would love to see this on PS3. Doesn't matter though I guess cause all the PS3 players will be sh**ting on everyone when AGENT comes out. EvilDynasty
Download-only games are bad. Zombie Apocalypse [game] is not good at all tbh. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/468919-class3/#findComment-1060324344 Share on other sites
.2D
Sounds pretty good. If they pull it off well, it's definitely something I'll get. Look forward to it Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/468919-class3/#findComment-1060324347 Share on other sites

Yeah, but usually downloadable games aren't the best ever lol, I mean the idea behind it, is excellent but I think it won't be brought to it's full potential, in a download format. So yeah, even if it wasn't exclusive I have doubts about it, good concept, but will it have the game play, visuals etc. to back it up, we will see. To bad I won't be able to get it even if it's good, cause I own a PS3, ah well. tubbs51
if you read the article it says this game will be a sort of test for Class4 which is planned as a persistant open word zombie survival game for PS3, 360, PC, and Wii (official platforms were not announced). So Class3 will be a sort of downloadable precursor to Class4. So the PS3 fellas can keep their hopes up as the Class3 is just a precursor for Class4 which is expected to be multi-platform. so all Xbox get excusively a first look into what Class4 could be Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/468919-class3/#findComment-1060324448 Share on other sites

An open world zombie game is a concept I've always thought would be fantastic if done right. I agree. The Dead Rising series wasnt exactly open-world so this game may do it right. The concept art looks pretty rubbish to me to be honest. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/468919-class3/#findComment-1060324532 Share on other sites
darthYENIK
Fanboy-ism aside, I like the idea. I've always wanted an open world zombie game. Undead Nightmare did a pretty decent job, but I'd like to see a big city and modern weapons. Undead Nightmare did a pretty decent job, but I'd like to see a big city and modern weapons. From what i have gathered you can get a group of survivors and build a safe house and in order to survive you need food and defenses. With more survivors gathered the better the defenses you can upgrade your "fortress" with. And in order to feed said survivors you can grow food or raid supermarkets... and the Concept art looks good. there's a fairly big city in one of the Concept arts... It'll be interesting to say the least. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/468919-class3/#findComment-1060324598 Share on other sites
mystk
What happened to creativity? Devs back in the day used to be in serious competition with each other and always tried to bring something new and unique to the table and the devs that succeeded in doing so were the one's doing great. Just look at this. Zombie survival? I mean how many times has this been done. There's nothing unique or innovative about it, yet another recycled concept. I'm also also kind of getting sick of Zombie games and games with Zombie related modes, it's just getting stale. Like Warlord said, what happened to creativity and originality? baptiste
Most themes have been done. Its retarded to think you can come out with an unlimited amount of different themes. Whats important is the originality in the gameplay mechanics. Stop whining about theme. What hasnt been done is how they bring it all together. What Class3 will bring that L4D didnt is that its completely open world similar to Fallout. Plus it has some creativity in it because you decide where your safepoint is and what it should look like and how safe it is...
